Upon entering I was given a stare by the hostess. After a few awkward seconds I said I’d like to eat. Her response was, «by yourself?» I decided to just sit at the bar and skip the seating part. The bartender had his back to the bar and continued to play with his phone. Another server hollered at him trying to get his attention. After a few unsuccessful attempts, he came behind the bar and got my drink order. When he returned with my soda, he went to the bartender and told him he had a customer. I ordered calamari as an appetizer and meat loaf as my entrée. The calamari came quickly, but was a giant fried together stuck mess. Lots of oil at the bottom of my plate and way over cooked. The calamari was very chewy and rubbery. A positive about the calamari however, is there is plenty for a couple people. You do receive a large portion. My meat loaf was screaming hot(good), the mashed potatoes were of perfect size. Not too big, but plenty. My overall impression of this place… the service skills have much to be improved and I don’t know if the cook always makes the calamari that way. I probably wouldn’t return unless invited by a friend who wouldn’t eat elsewhere. There’s just nothing about this place that earns my business over other dining options in the area. :/

Great comfort food! I usually gravitate towards the Coffee Rubbed Ribeye, and substitute the mashed potatoes for the Gouda Grits. I have had an opportunity to have most items on the menu and have enjoyed everything. The service can be spotty which is why I am dropping it a star. The staff is primarily college students so the turn over is frequent leading to frequent poor service.

Man, this place. It just keeps on being mediocre. For a while I was willing to give Brooklyn’s the benefit of the doubt, because the management seemed to actively try to improve things, but brunch today exhibited a clear downturn in the food quality. They’ve taken the veg. benedict off the menu, so rather than try to remember what was on it, I just went with an omelette – which was 100% FINE, but the potatoes were some frozen deep fried thing(whereas am pretty sure they used to be fresh) and the toast was made with super cheap bread that I’d expect from a diner, not a mid-scale restaurant. Service was fine — overall used to be better. I get the impression that the servers aren’t treated very well; many seem under-trained, which means turnover is high — and they have that beaten down(or sometimes slightly snarky) quality that bespeaks an unhappy work environment. Moreover, the dining room is STILL crazy loud. I try to avoid coming here now.

My favorite place in Stillwater. Nice nice nice restaurant! I love the turkey burger and the pot pie! For breakfast you HAVE to have the chicken and waffles or the sweet potato pancakes! TODIEFOR!

Food is good but the customer service is Extremely poor. I’ve frequented the restaurant for several years and it continues to decline in quality both service and taste. I even attempted to send management an email via their website and it is not linked to an email. The staff is terrible and I don’t think there is a training program or a manager on duty. I WILLNOT be returning! Sadly Stillwater could have something to be proud of but unfortunately the management and staff do not care. Spend your dollars elsewhere.

We have been eating here for the last 4 years. Quality has declined significantly. Tonight our meals were both sent back to the kitchen. Management could care less. You’ve lost a good customer! I’ll miss your wine list. Sad

In the past we have enjoyed Brooklys and I was really looking forward to going back yesterday. We came for an early dinner and were the only people in the restaurant, even so, our server ignored us. I ordered the strawberry salad with chicken, it was mediocre at best. The strawberries were not fresh and the chicken was like rubber. When it came time for the check, I paid in cash and she brought back the wrong change. When I finally got her attention her flippant answer was«that’s all they had». And she hurried off before I could give her a card. So, either I had to wait another 30 min to get her attention, or I left the cash. I’m pretty sure that was her purpose ’cause she ended up with a 39% tip.

We took my son and girlfriend to eat on October 3, 2015. So we walk in and the hostess, with no prompting from anyone, was just flat out rude. She never said a word, but snatched her menues up, looked me up and down from head to toe with a snarl on her lips and face and turned around and led us to the table– never said a word. I was dressed down for the day as we had visited the Botanic Garden before dinner. The establishment is not swanky, so what was her problem? Not really sure if it was the fact that she had to work that day, or if she just hates people, but that was upsetting. The waitress, however, noticed her arrogance and really tried to make up for the hostess’ indescretion. The food, however, was pretty decent. I had the shrimp and grits, and while tasty, were ever-so-slightly undercooked. The dish was seasoned perfectly. I also had the Soil to Soul Riesling and was unimpressed. The rest of my party enjoyed their food. One had the Sunny Side Up burger and Sweet potato fries and liked it. My husband had the Poblano Matchstick burger and parmesan fries. He enjoyed the burger and didn’t care for the fries. One had the Chicken Pot pie and enjoyed the puff pastry crust. So in all, the experience would have been slightly above average, if not for the hatefulness of the snobby hostess. I am almost sure the job of the hostess is to set the mood for the evening and she certainly did. 3 stars.

Great comfort food and excellent selection of drinks. Our party had the salmon, ribeye, shrimp, and chicken and waffles. All of the meals were excellent.

Love this place. I moved away from Stillwater two years ago and actually miss this place. I always go back when I’m in town. The downstairs is cozier and quieter than the main floor. Great drink selection. Food is always excellent and service is great. Have to take off one star because it can be rather challenging to eat veggie or vegan here. One or two entrees without meat or cheese, that aren’t salads or pasta, would make this place 5 stars for me. Still love it, though.

A great place to get comfort food and some drinks. Every time I have come here we’ve had a good time. Make sure to try the chicken, as they really know how to cook it so it stays moist!

I currently reside in Stillwater and Brooklyn’s has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants! They have this thing going on over the summer where every thursday after 4 is $ 2 tacos and $ 4 mini margaritas. OMG the tacos are delicious! I highly recommend the fish and the pork tacos, they also have chicken. The margaritas are refreshing and super good! The lime ones are my favorite, but when I want something a little sweeter the peach are delicious. The brunch menu on sundays is also delicious! I had the eggs benedict and it had chorizo… need I say more? Like other Unilocalers said; the chicken and waffles are really good, but the syrup with the figs are not my favorite. I recommend not getting the figs on it and getting regular maple syrup. The tangyness of the figs throws it off. But the steaks are very good and cooked to exactly how you order it. My favorite is the coffe rubbed steak! mmm. Great wine selection. Good beers. The bar isnt amazing or anything, but its a little fancy.

Food — 4.5 stars Food was good. Steaks fantastic and everything else acceptable. Bar — 1.0 star Nothing special bar with inconsistent pours and no understanding of how to serve. We had to go to the bar and request a glass for a premium drink and then given the wrong glass — probably OK for the fraternity but not from a «professional» bartender serving premium drinks. Service — 2.0 Wait staff was attentive to the person she identified as the likely payer and everyone else was fairly well ignored. We were the last table to leave and as soon as we walked out they turned off the street lights on us… –1.0 star Final Score: 7⁄3 = 2.5−1.0 = 1.5 rounded up = 2.0…(this doesn’t take in to account the miserable experience we had making the reservation… I only heard about the incompetence from the person that made our reservation and was not directly involved — that being said, Ryan’s review below describes a better(and still terrible) experience with reservations at this restaurant).

Had less than one hour for lunch so we were pretty rushed but the food was pretty good. The fries were amazing. I had the Italian grilled cheese, not sure what makes it Italian but it was good — would have been better if the cheese were more melted. My daughter had the guacamole turkey burger and she said it was good, very juicy. Would most likely try it again.

What the fuck. Fish tasted like it was floating at the top of the river for a week. Fried chicken is good. Waffles are good. Maple syrup is good. Balsamic Vinegarette is good. Fried chicken-waffles balasmic maple syrup is a late term abortion of a meal. 0⁄10 would not eat again

Probably the most delicious restaraunt in stillwater, this place gives you slightly elevated pub fare. They do have an excellent wine selection, and the staff us extremely helpful. The bar is spacious and comfortable. I ate the chicken and waffles, and while the chicken was super tasty, and the waffles were crisp and delicious, the fruity gastrique they drizzled over everything really took away from the meal. I would ask for maple syrup on the side.

Visited on: March 272012, March 12013 One of Stillwater’s few(or only) New American restaurants, this place is fancy schmancy and is an obvious pick if you want to impress out-of-town visitors or a date. The environment is certainly nice, but the food is a little more hit-and-miss. The first time I came here, I had the Chicken Fried Steak, which was good; it came with a unique gravy that’s different from the usual white gravy. For dessert I had the Brooklyn Block Party, a mashup of cookies, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, marshmallows, pistachios, caramel, and chocolate, and it was quite delicious. On my second visit, I had the Chicken & Waffles. The chicken’s texture was fine, but in keeping with its New American theme the dish was, to quote the menu, «drizzled with a cranberry-balsamic-maple syrup», and also topped with pecans; I didn’t like either of these additions. The syrup made the chicken sickly sweet and gross. I also tried some of the Crispy Calamari appetizer, which was decent, and had a Café Brooklyn’s, an alcoholic coffee drink, which was not good.
