De Vega Brothers

Seriously can not understand this place getting any stars at all. So here Its the full night cliff note version.
Service… Polite but that’s it. Drinks ran out for long periods of time. Calamari was so bad we didn’t touch it and she asked if we wanted a box after we told her.
Food… Ribeye steak first. Literally no meat at all just a slab of fat. Mashed potatoes were good vegetables were ok. Side salads obviously don’t wash the greens.
Tri tip was decent but rosemary chicken dry.
Overall for supposedly a nice restaurant it seems there’s no concern for quality at all. A $ 32 slab of fat was the deal breaker on already mediocre at best.
At least the bourbon was good.

This is one of the really good classy places in Stockton. They have been around for a long time, though not in their current location. To be fair, I haven’t been a regular that long, just this year really.
I go for lunch. They have great sandwiches and salads. Their seafood is fresh and real (crab might have bits of shell in it so beware!). I also like their iced tea.
The dining area is always clean and well lit with relaxing décor. The noise level can be a little high inside so you might consider the outdoor section if that is a problem. I tend to meet people I know there having a fine meal. Don’t just look down, check out those around you!

Quite disappointing, given that I’ve been hearing about this place on the radio. I chose this place for my birthday dinner and after I kinda wished I went somewhere else. It was a Thursday evening so the place was slow. We walked in and I had to say hi to the waiter before he greeted me. Bad start. We picked our own table and sat down. I got a glass of Chardonnay and my glass was dirty. There were finger and streak marks. Usually I’m not a picky person but this is pretty bad for a white cloth restaurant. We ordered our food and waited. Food started to come out on good timing and we started to eat. My husbands rib eye was the most disappointing thing ever. Dry, flavorless and tough. Not for $ 30+. Worst we’ve ever had. My sons spaghetti was not your traditional spaghetti. I wished the waiter would of told us that theirs was different, especially if a kid was ordering it. It was probably roasted smoked tomatoes of some sort. So he didn’t eat it and felt bad that the waiter might think he didn’t like it. Our water was not refilled and I wasn’t asked if I wanted more wine either. No dessert menu offered. Sadly, we talked about getting a chocolate cake for me but it was never offered! We got our check and gave the waiter the money and we stood up and started to leave. There was no «thank you» whatsoever as we stood up and walked away. Spent $ 120 on food to say we tried it. I can tell the people there was not passionate about their job. I really hope the owners do something to bring the place to its full potential.

Nice atmosphere. That is the only positive.
Worst filet mignon I have ever had. Dried out meat, fatty, flavorless. Way over priced
for the lack of quality. Really low quality meat cooked overdone when I ordered medium.
Salad that came with dish had mediocre sauce and sides were just okay.
Do not recommend this place.

Had a delicious lunch our first visit we will be back and try the dinner menu! A nice place for a special date upscale atmosphere attentive staff.

a1 on service, quality and taste. the set up is very romantic as well, at nigh there is outdoor seating available where you are delighted by the sound of sweet music. Places like this make me love Stockton and give me such pride in the city. We need more places like this!

We went today to try out a new place so I Unilocaled and it sounded promising.
I will start from the beginning. Parking was easy and it looked like it was closed but the sign was on indicating the place was open. So we parked and went in.
Very nice inside, cloth tablecloths, full bar to the right, and two big screens playing baseball games. It didn’t bother me. Looks pretty good so far. It took the host about 30 seconds to come out of the kitchen to greet us, which gave us (my kid and Dad and I) time to scope out the ambiance. Very nice, real tablecloths.
Host was very polite and casually walked us to our table. Got the menu’s, water, ordered our food and got our appetizer; crab cakes delicious, hearty size but only two.
Then came their soups and my salad. They really liked the New England clam chowder and I really liked my salad with all fresh ingredients, definitely not salad from a bag. So far so good. Then came our meals, they looked spectacular. It tasted even better, very special attention to details and not afraid to use spices and herbs. I had the salmon, my Dad had the rib eye, my kid had the scallions. No complaints from us at all. Service great also. Our bill came out to $ 75.00 plus tip. Although the prices were very reasonable, the bill crept up. I just think we won’t go so crazy next time, because next time I want to try dessert! I won’t say anymore the place has my vote. You’re up next!

Holy crud, prices were steeeeeep. Call me frugal or whateva but I don’t think the food on the menu was worth the high prices at all. My review is probably not the most reliable… because as soon as we looked at the high prices on the menu, we bounced. We’re talking eggplant Parmesan for $ 20.00 (cheapest entrée dish btw). The only time I’ll go here is when I test the waters on my future first date, when he asks me «where do you wanna go out to eat?» Ahahaha, no questions asked… De Vega brothers it it! Yeah, that’s a tad bit shady but I’m notorious for breaking a mans wallet !! Hehe. However, I will commend this restaurant for the romantic ambiance. Anyways, I’ll definitely update my review of this place if I get the chance to taste it.

My family and I went to De Vega brothers to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We made reservations earlier this week and when we arrived, we asked to sit outside because the weather was so nice. The hostess said to pick a table which we did then a server brought us napkins and silverware and told us who our server would be. We weren’t even given menus, also.
Our server arrived and took our drink order then randomly asked if we liked asparagus. My husband and I said yes, then he asked if we wanted an asparagus appetizer. The way he brought it up was just odd and threw us for a loop.
He later returns with drinks and our appetizer. My husband had to ask for menus. Odd.
Our dinner was delicious and the remainder of our evening was great.

Great food presentation doesn’t make up for poor quality food or service. I ordered the Pasta Del Mare. The shrimp was fresh, but over cooked and the salmon and scallops were not fresh at all. Over priced for the quality and service.

I went here for restaurant week! The food wasnt bad. My friend got the steak, i bought the lamb. It is a fair portion size. I wish we had gotten more bread. The service was a bit slow, even though the place wasnt crowded. The food was pretty good though! Im glad their vegetables werent overcooked — it’s a big thing for me.

What a bummer! We recently tried De Vega brothers as part of Stockton Restaurant week. We’d been curious about the place and found this to be a great opportunity. Sadly, we found the service to be way below expectation and the food to be so-​so. I hope to give them another chance another day.

This place is definitely one of the top 5 restaurants in Stockton. I have eaten here at least 8 times, and it is consistently great. They have the best alfredo sauce I have ever had. The tri-​tip is spectacular. The jumbo prawns are very good as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the mood for great Italian food.

Haven’t been to this place in over two years…
I met a friend for lunch and really enjoyed our visit! The ambiance was lovely, our server was really sweet and friendly and the food was outstanding!
I had the soup and salad –house salad and minestrone soup. Both were great and the vinaigrette was SO good!!! I added blue cheese of course… Not everyone does a great minestrone and they nailed it!
The others had the French dip and salad and the calamari salad. All of us ate our entire meal and left satisfied and so glad we chose here to enjoy a nice birthday lunch…

We come here for our Business Meetings every Tuesday.
The foods so good I had to bring my wife.
She loved it.
Atmosphere was great and food was great and service was great.

The location and service is amazing. But the food was eh! The mash potatoes and the bread was the best part of the very pricey meal.

Had my birthday lunch there today. The service was slow. I had to ask for water three times. And no they were not busy when we first got there.
Half of us ordered the Calamari sandwich. The calamari was super thin. Half of my sandwich just had fried breading with a wee bit of calamari. Half of us ordered the pasta. The pasta was so spicy it was barely editable.
They did give us birthday cake that was yummy.
All in all I was really disappointed. I had been looking forward to our lunch there. In hindsight I should have sent the food back.
I am hoping they were having an off day. I will try them again in 6 months.

We decided to have our dinner here for a special birthday, & what a pleasant surprise. I’m so used to mediocre food here in our great city of Stockton. Big $$ and not do good food. Not here! We ordered ribeye steak, filet mignon, shrimp tortillini, scallops, shrimp fettuccine… everything was wonderful! I mean full of flavor and just really good! Our waiter, Rauel, was awesome. Thank for great service dude! I apologize for our dad & his harassing comments (jk & lol) we will definitely be back!
