It was our first time in Stowe, so decided to check this place out for their famous Dutch pancakes. We ordered the vegetarian frittata and the pineapple almond pancake(and added strawberries). Both were delicious and incredibly filling. As previous posters wrote, the food is a touch greasy — but we’re on vacation so that was sort of an afterthought. Our waitress was very sweet and the staff was welcoming. My only complaint was that the coffee cups and utensils weren’t washed properly, and the tables were somewhat sticky. The great food and service makes up for all of it.

Avoid this place at all costs and travel two minutes down the road to McCarthy’s, you won’t regret it but you might if you stay here for breakfast. The restaurant is dirty and the food doesn’t taste well. Comparable to Denny’s or iHOP which would be fine if you were elsewhere but you’re in Vermont. The first thing I noticed were the dirty mugs and I had our waitress give my boyfriend and I new ones. I got two buttermilk pancakes, two sunny side up eggs, and bacon and the only thing I liked were the eggs. The bacon and pancakes didn’t taste good, at least compared to McCarthy’s. Their maple syrup container was nasty as well. On the bright side, our waitress was very nice and they were playing Christmas music in June. I love Christmas music.

Their service is very warm and friendly. Our server recommended the apple bluberry pancake so we got that with the savory ‘farmer’ and another sweet one with pineapple coconut. All were delicious, I loved the apple blueberry. The pancakes are pretty big, so if are not very hungry then might want to share one!

I was looking for this place, got there around 11:30am. The restaurant was packed and a waitress passed by and we ask how long to get a table she told us the host was busy. Then after after waiting 20 minutes with no body saying anything we got a table. We order food and were able to eat it after 50 minutes after placing the order. I don’t think I’ll come back to that place again. The food is just ok.

I ordered the«45» eggs+cheese+bacon mixed into a buttermilk pancake and it proved to be too much of a good thing for me, 12″ diameter molten pancake hanging off the sides of the dinner plate. I lost track of the time but it was a very loooong wait.

The food is delicious – Dutch pancakes are like crepes, and they had many fine varieties. The wait time was exceedingly long – an hour for an order consisting of a pancake and a frittata. Go for the food, but choose somewhere with faster service if you are already hungry.

I’ll start by saying that the food was good. Not blow your skirt up like Marilyn Monroe in Seven Year Itch good, but good. It took them an hour to bring us eggs Benedict and a pancake which was just inexplicably long. The wait — not the pancake; the pancake was freakishly round. I was tempted to give them two stars but, then, as we were walking out, this little Dutch pancake house totally redeemed the third star. How, you might ask? Well, let me tell you. On the ledge over the staircase was the European version of the Golden Egg: tiny little wooden shoes! Oy vey! So impractical, but yet so deliciously Dutch adorbs! I mean really, wearing tiny little wooden shoes would make anyone murderous, but the Dutch know how to temper that rage long enough to make some damn fine pannoekken. I shared my little painful shoe=delicious cook theory with my beloved, and told my girlfriend that her cooking might improve if she were to wear those spiky heels she never wears because«they hurt her feet.» I LOVE those shoes, but between you and me, I rolled my ankle the last time she was out for the night and I wore them around the house. Anywhoo, she didn’t think my suggestion warranted any consideration and basically hasn’t spoken to me since breakfast. Women can be so sensitive. Must be that time of the month! Still, those little Dutch clogs just made the whole experience. Run on in and check them out!

So I will tell you I have been here when its extremely busy, and its not as great then. However, I went with a friend a week ago and it was SO dead due to mud season that we eagerly went back again! The dutch pancakes are HUGE and its taxing to finish, but oh so worth it. We tried the cheese pancake and with a drizzle of syrup created the perfect combination of savory and sweet. I had also tried the coconut chocolate chip pancake. It was extremely sweet with the finish of confectionary sugar, but worth every bite. Besides the pancakes my friend had ordered an omelet that was gorgeously fluffy and still came with a pancake! I would definitely recommend.

If you have never tried a Dutch pancake, you definitely should. They are different than what you might think of a traditional pancake. The batter is thinner and less sweet. You can get just about any topping in and on them too. This place is a decent example of a Dutch pancake house, which in itself is a rare find. We tried two different kinds and liked both of them, but the batter seemed a bit thicker than the ones we had eaten in the Netherlands. Overall, we liked it and would go back if in the area. The staff are friendly and the menu gives you a huge number of options to choose from for topping. The coffee is pretty mediocre, think instant Folgers, especially considering what is available in the area.

Delicious. Huge pancake. First time I came here, we each got our own and I couldn’t finish it. Came back next day, cause it’s that good, and we shared. Perfect amount. The potato, onion, cheese and egg was great. Perfect food to eat before a brewery tour!

Authentic Dutch pancake situated in heart of Stowe. This place is located in the Grey Fox Inn hotel in Stowe, VT. They have an extensive menu full of dutch-style pancakes with both savory and sweet. I bought the Unilocal deal which was $ 10 for $ 20 off food. My husband and I split two pancakes, one savory and one sweet. The great thing was they had a whole section of vegetarian options so we got one with vegetarian sausage, cheese and veggies. My husband ordered the sweet one which came with apples, raisins and honey. Both were delicious and incredibly filling. Glad we split them up. The only thing i will say is that they were a _touch_greasy so they kind of sat in the pit of my stomach for a few hours. But other than that, it was a filling breakfast before we ventured out for the day. I would recommend this place, but maybe split one if you are with someone!

You need to try this. While it’s certainly difficult to pick out a place to eat with so many options in Stowe it would be wrong not to go here. The Dutch style pancake is so unique and afar from the American pancake. #24(potato onion and cheese) was what I had and the wifey had the banana and blueberry. I don’t know what I was expecting but whatever my expectations were, they were blown away.

OMG these pancakes are magically delicious! Seriously, if you’re up at Stowe, you owe it to yourself to stop in here. Servings are huge, so you either better be hungry or ready to share.

Wait staff was amazing, very friendly. Food was good. Loved the eggs Benedict. Different type of pancakes, they are similar to a crêpe. A little pricey… aka coffee is 2.50. But a pleasant experience. :)

Staying at the Stowe mountain lodge and was sick of high breakfast prices, so I looked for a place in town. Got a $ 20 Unilocal coupon and couldn’t resist coming here. The pancake that I got was 12″ in diameter and contained egg, cheese, onions, sweet Italian sausage, and peppers – ask to combine numbers 25 and 47 to get this. It is easily enough for 2 hungry people to split. I had to take almost half home! Linda easily wins the server of the month award for her stellar service and willingness to actually serve the customer. Will definitely stop by again if in the area.

I visited this place after reading about it on The Manual’s micro guide to Stowe — I had high expectations and they were completely met. I was a little wary after reading past reviews complaining about the slow speed and inattentive service, however, this wasn’t the case at all during my visit. Moreover, this is looks like a family run restaurant, so they definitely deserve a little slack given its popularity on certain days. Our servers were kind and attentive, they kept our coffees full to the brim and did all they could to ensure we had a great breakfast. I ordered the breakfast panekoeke(hopefully that’s how it’s spelled) and was greeted with a 12″ stuffed piece of heaven — it was cheesy, crispy on the outside with perfect fluffy scrambled eggs and bacon on the inside. My girlfriend ordered the Eggs Benedict, which came with a mini crêpe stuffed with strawberries on the side — the eggs were perfectly cooked and the hollandaise was as good as it gets. They also came with home fries which were well seasoned, and well cooked, though it’s definitely hard to go wrong with those. The pricing is a bit more than you’d expect at first but given the amount and quality of the food you get in return, I’s say its worth it. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in Stowe next time.

Linda is my favorite. She always greets us with a smile, and remembers our favorite menu items. This breakfast restaurant is totally unique to Stowe. They also have a pretty extensive Dutch pancake selection from savory to sweet. There Artisan Coffee is grade A . The wait staff is professional and very curious.

Went for breakfast today with my husband. The food deserves 5 stars, it was delicious. I had the apple bacon pancake and my husband had the traditional eggs benedict with a side of home fries and mini pancake with strawberries. Both were delicious. My husband says the pancake was the highlight of the meal for him, but everything was very good. My apple bacon was the perfect mix of sweet and savory and the perfect portion as I didn’t feel too stuffed after eating it, but also didn’t want to eat anymore. I take off one star for service. When we entered, there was no hostess to greet us. It was about 5 minutes before ourselves and two other groups who were waiting were noticed by a waitress who went to find the hostess, and another 5 – 10 minutes before we were seated. It was busy there, which I completely understand, but a hostess shouldn’t be away from their post that long. Other than that, it was quite a wait for food after ordering, but worth the wait. Our waitress was kind and friendly and helped me decide between the apple bacon and banana/chocolate/coconut. Her description made me choose the apple bacon and I am very happy with that choice. Will return in the future. If you come here, make sure you have some time. This is not a rush in and rush out establishment. Enjoy!

I was in Vermont for a ski trip and wanted to get some vermont syrup along with some tasty pancakes before I left. A buddy and I decided to check out this place on a Sunday morning before we had to head out for our flight back home. The restaurant is located inside of one the many inns in the Stowe area. Luckily when we arrived, there wasn’t a wait so we were immediately seated. The menu is composed of mainly different types of Dutch pancakes which are thinner pancakes kind of like the thickness of a crêpe. The menu also has regular pancakes as well as other traditional breakfast items such as eggs and bacon. However, it is called Dutch Pancake Café so we decided to get Dutch pancakes. Our server took a few minutes to come greet us and bring us water. The restaurant was pretty full but only had 2 servers so they were pretty understaffed given the conditions. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to eat since they have both sweet and savory pancakes. So, I decided to get one of each of course. I went with the banana chocolate chip pancake and the corned beef hash with egg pancake, both Dutch style. Once we ordered, we waited over 30 minutes for our food to come out which was definitely a stretch since we were going straight to our flight and had to ask for our check as soon as the food came. The banana chocolate chip pancake was delicious with both the bananas and chocolate chips cooked inside. Also, it came with some powdered sugar on top which was a nice touch. As for the other pancake, the egg was all lumped together in one giant patch with the corned beef hash scattered around it. This pancake was a little more on the bland side and it would have been better if the egg had actually been scattered throughout the pancake. The pancakes themselves are massive and one by itself definitely is filling. I couldn’t even finish both pancakes and am used to eating big breakfasts! The overall experience was not worth the long wait given that I spent over $ 25 on two pancakes and I only enjoyed 1 of them. If I come back to Stowe, I would come back to this place and hopefully have a short wait and only get a sweet Dutch pancake because that was quite good. They need to work on the service though because we had to flag down other servers just to refill our waters and get our check since we ended up being in a rush given the long wait time.
