Relocating to Ohio from Southern California has meant finding a place to live sight-unseen. Studying web-reviews I found Parkside Towers, and I’m so glad I did! My experience with the office staff, and Parkside itself, has far exceeded my expectations. In EVERY respect they have gone the extra-mile, both Jacci & Ann Marie helping with the many roadblocks I encountered. While moving-in and getting settled everyone has been extremely attentive and courteous. I’m very pleased living here, and offer my observations and OPINIONS for your consideration: The building has gone through a very recent renovation and it’s looking fresh, modern and maybe even regal =) The individual units are well maintained and clean, but other than a few apartments which have gotten a complete make-over(as seen on the Burton Carol website) most units are pretty much original. So ask about both. I have an older style, un-remodeled unit and I’m satisfied because I like the location and layout. The majority of units do not have a balcony, but if it’s important to you ask. Closet space & storage is plentiful within the apartment, but it gets even better! There are extra storage rooms for your bikes and bigger items. The grounds of the building are gorgeous. The landscaping and flowers are first class. Nestled into the Metro Parks woodlands there is a well equipped kids play area, a separate picnic/BBQ space, as well as several picturesque outdoor seating areas for tenants & their guests to enjoy. The entire interior & exterior of the building has been updated and modernized. The lobby and other public areas, including upper floors, party room & hallways, are all freshly refurbished in modern colors and furnishings. The place shows very well and I’m proud to call Parkside Towers home. Parking is abundant, or rent a parking spot in the secured parking garage And speaking of security, the building uses a state of the art secure electronic key-fob systems rather than keys. When someone moves-out, they must return the key-fob or be charged a hefty fee. The fobs can’t be duplicated. If the person keeps the fob it is then deactivated so they no longer have access to the building. It’s brilliant! The cameras throughout the building add another layer of security. This is a tall building, built with cement floors, so at least my my unit there is little sound migrating between floors. Move in/out cannot be done through the buildings front doors, so be aware that your furniture must be brought through the side doors which have a pretty tight turn. Elevator dimensions are: 7’2″ L x 3’9″ W x 7’9″ H Door: 3′ x 7’ My un-remodeled kitchen has limited counter space, only 2 slim drawers which can’t even fit a flatware holder. To make more counter space for my microwave, coffee maker & a few other small items I need at arms reach, I bought a 4’x2’ folding banquet table, online at Walmart for $ 35(not super sturdy, so may NOT be suitable for households with children): The table, extended to it’s tallest, is the same height the counters and fits perfectly in the space across from the refrigerator. Another more attractive option would be to fill that space with a baker’s rack or butcher block cabinet, but I was going for cheap and cheerful =) The laundry rooms are clean, bright and well appointed with new machines which use a modern re-loadable debit card rather than an ‘old school’ pile of quarters. Wow! It sure makes doing laundry easy! Pets: Cats only, security deposit & monthly fee; Vet certificate. Cable/internet installation: For the best service possible DONOT call Time Warner directly!!! Instead use Parkside’s recommended vendor, Dave Chaney, offering concierge service. He’ll customize your outlets exactly as you’d like. Only downside I’ve found: noise WITHIN the unit. While I’m thrilled to have central A/C, it is very loud. So is the dishwasher, and both bathroom fans sound like jet engines(but they keep the baths dry =) Also the paint color throughout seems to be a gray-white, whereas I prefer a warmer shade of cream white décor, but you may think that’s knit-picking. LOL Although the central A/C unit is loud and took me a bit of getting use too, I wouldn’t trade it for the world! Most comparable rentals only offer one box style A/C unit in the livingroom. How is THAT suppose to cool your bedrooms for a comfy nights sleep? It’s something to think about. Upside: GREAT staff, maintenance, security & grounds. Plus, you’re close to EVERYTHING, I-71& the turnpike. Get anywhere in minutes. So check out the remodeled units, and the older style units. I think you’ll find something you like within your price range. I’ve been here a month and am thrilled to call Parkside Towers home!
