Excellent and very nice selection of frames… Helpful receptionist and very knowledgable optometrist

Had my first appointment with Dr. Mohammed today and it was wonderful! I needed to be rechecked for my contacts and with two very different eyes, that can sometime be tricky. Dr. Mohammed was not only very professional and knowledgable, but also very kind. My exam was also very reasonably priced, even without having vision insurance. Would recommend to anyone!

My husband and I had a really great experience with Dr. Mohammed and Vanessa. They were very kind and helpful. I truly appreciated Vanessa’s help picking out frames that honestly looked good on me, something I couldn’t rely on my husband for :)

I really enjoyed my visit here! Dr. Mohamed and his staff were all friendly and helpful. They helped me pick out the perfect new glasses. No Sales-​y tactics or anything! I highly recommend this place if you’re in need of an exam or new glasses!

This was the best eye exam experience I have ever had. The people are so nice, especially the owner Dr. Mohamed! His equipment is new and more advanced and they got me taken care of, and set up for my new prescription very fast! I will be referring anyone I can to them!

Dr. Mohamed and his assistant are wonderful! I came here for a new prescription because I work close-​by, and it was convenient. I didn’t have particularly high expectations, but I left my appointment so incredibly impressed by the service and care that I received. Dr. Mohamed went above and beyond to meet my needs. The examination was very thorough and I never felt that he was rushing. I enjoyed his company, and he seemed exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate about optometry and the latest technology in the field. I really enjoyed my appointment with him.
After the appointment, I met with his assistant/​receptionist, and she was just lovely. She helped me pick out a great pair of glasses, and 2 days later, I have them in hand (and currently on my face). I couldn’t be happier.

I am appalled on the results we found this morning!
After the visit last year, we still felt uneasy about the exam so we searched around for one we can trust. After the incident, we felt betrayed and hopeless.
Found a ophthalmologist with Unilocal and friends recommendation and finally went to our appointment this morning.
HIS:
Omg! He needs surgery and roughly we are talking about $ 6000. She look at his eyes and saw cataract right away. She explained what we needed to do and give us different options. It was a good thing we caught it now and can fix it.

After I found out what happen with my bf, I wanted to get another exam. My glasses which was adjusted from them already, it was still too strong. It could have been a number of reasons so I went to get a second opinion, Mine was also higher. I threw my glasses and contacts right away, few hundred dollars wasted. =(
The only positive outcome from this situation is finding a really good Ophthalmologist and optometrist we can trust now. Sometimes paying more doesn’t equal better results.

So glad I came to Southland Optometry! I’m new to the Studio City location and was looking for a new eye doctor and very glad I came in. The receptionist was great, very friendly and helpful! Dr. Mohamed is a very easy to talk to, friendly as well, and professional! I was having trouble with one of my contact lenses and thought I would have to schedule another appointment, but they allowed me to come in the same day!
I would recommend anyone looking for an eye doctor to come here.

Three years ago I started going to Southland Optometry since it was a walk away from where I used to live in Studio City. Even though I now live in Santa Monica I still make the trek to see Dr. Mohamed!
Before Dr. Mohamed stepped in there were a few mediocre optometrists. Now that Dr. M is there I’m a lifer. Not to sound like a broken record with the other reviews, but he is approachable, professional, personable, and knowledgeable.
I would highly recommend Dr. Mohamed!

Fantastic! Great experience overall. The doc is knowledgeable, takes the time to talk to you intelligently, and is pleasant and funny to boot. The staff was really sweet, took their time with me, and treated me like I was their only patient. Aaaaaand, when I called to tell them I didn’t like my progressive lenses and wanted to trade them for single vision, their exact words were, «No problem at all. If you want to give it another week, you should do that. Otherwise, just come on back in, and we’ll make it right.» Couldn’t ask for more!

Southland Optometry is fantastic. I took my 6 year old daughter to Dr. Mohammed for an eye exam. He was thorough, patient and professional. In addition, I needed a new pair of glasses. I brought Southland my prescription and John was able to make my lenses and put them into the frames I selected within 15 minutes! Everyone at Southland is dedicated to customer service and I highly recommend you go there for your eye care

Wow… This will be my new optometrist for all my future needs indeed. Now that my eye is all fixed up I can finally see clear enough to write a review!
I ended up finding Southland via the other great Unilocal reviews and so glad I did. Dr. Mohammed is the best! I recently got a direct finger in the eye during a jiu-​jitsu class and the persons fingernail scratched my cornea on a Saturday. It was a pretty nasty injury. Dr. Mohammed ended up giving me a full eye exam to check for any other serious damage and wrote me a prescription for an eye ointment to avoid any infection over the long holiday weekend.
What made Dr. Mohammed so great is not only is he super caring and smart guy, but he offered and came in on the Monday over the memorial holiday weekend just to check up on my eye! What service!!! He did not have to do this for me obviously but did so out of pure concern for a patient. I was super grateful and in return will be recommending Dr. Mohammed at Southland to all my friends!
Also as a bonus, his office is right next to my friends Vegan restaurant called Vegan Plate (I have a review for them on Unilocal as well). So you can get your eyes checked up and eat some great food at the same time!
Go see Dr. Mohammed, your eyes will thank you.

Dr. Mohammed is amazing — personalble, extremely knowledgable and professional. He recently bought the business and is enthusiastic and caring. His staff is attentive and friendly. Their frame selection is fabulous and hip and the one on one service is reminiscent of bygone local busiesses where the owner and employees remember your name and your needs.
When I couldn’t find a frame that was right for me, the office connected with a vendor that had similar styles, ordered a bunch of the style I was looking for, then called me to come try them to see if any were a fit. I left with the perfect pair just a couple of days later. There was never a wait any of the times I went in and they take insurance.

I had so much fun at Southland Optometry today, which wasn’t was I was expecting. I also was SO happy when it was discovered my last optometrist way over prescribed– and my glasses I paid $ 350 for last year were actually hurting my eyes. In fact– many of the tests they did I have never had done and they seemed surprised– which tells me I’ve been seeing some lame eye doctors. I finally have the right prescription for both my contacts and my new Raybans I scored there today. I won’t go anywhere else again for my eye care. Southland Optometry rocks!

A superior experience in every way. Dr. Mohammed is smart, kind, personable, and patient, as is the staff who helped me find new frames. They carry a well-​rounded selection of well-​known brands.
The store is tiny and has the feeling of a neighborhood shop, right here in the shadow of a television studio lot.
When I called to make my appointment they gathered my insurance information so there was very little paperwork or waiting for me to do when I came in.
I also received a call «just to let you know we haven’t forgotten about you» and that my made-​to-​order frames would arrive in a few days.
Great customer service, great people, high quality products. I dig it.
