I’ve never had to go back and update a restaurant review, but this time I think it was necessary. I returned here for dinner recently and was very disappointed. The first time I came here was last year for brunch which was a great experience — delicious food, quick service, etc. but now that I’m looking back on it, it was probably just because we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. The service this past visit was extremely slow– we came here for Valentine’s Day and were hoping for a relaxing, enjoyable meal. When we were seated(which took about 10 min. despite a reservation), we waited for at least 20 minutes before anyone came over to even fill our waters or let us know our waitress was on her way. When our waitress finally arrived, she didn’t apologize and from that point forward everything was extremely slow. Overall we were there for probably 2.5 hours. Will not be returning!

I’ve stopped going here because the prices are INSANE for what you get. They’ve removed some of the more reasonably priced items from the menu. I have no problem spending money on excellent food, but this just isn’t.

Writing this review for the brunch on Sunday’s Love the Bloody Mary bar! The only thing I would suggest is educating the servers around what the different alcohol choices. My friend ordered what she thought was vodka but was really tequila. The first time I went the older man knew all of them but the second time we had a woman that knew nothing around these. The eggs Benedict and pork shoulder are delicious! The second visit the eggs Benedict was not hot just warm so just make sure to serve things while they are hot. My friend got the breakfast sandwich and said it was bland. Overall, going to be back because we love the Bloody Mary’s but hopefully they take note of some of the above.

Wow. On a Thursday night when you think couples might want to go out for a cocktail this place and nothing but tumbleweeds. In fact I think we could have better service out of tumbleweeds. We entered, Sat at the bar and attempted to order a drink but the bartenders were out on the back deck smoking cigarettes and talking to insignificant others. There was a young man behind the bar wearing in ill fitting black shirt that he pulled out of someone’s laundry basket. He was a sweet kid but explained that this was his first day on the job and they wouldn’t allow him to pull a tap and serve a beer. Very strange encounter And we wished him well. what else could one do? When the bartender finally returned after finishing his smokes, he never checked the 6 people scattered around the lonely bar and engaged in buddy talk with single guy sitting at the end of the bar. No service… Service level, ambiance and cuisine not good. The beet salad; lettuce with a few canned beets on the side. The Margherita flatbread was crispy yet so is Papa Gino’s…no, 29 Sudbury gets a 29 out of a possible 100 in my book and certainly is on the non-repeat list…

The food has gone up and down, because of the Chains too fast for furious growing pains. But they have settled on a pretty straigh forward menu — although I will not forgive missing my fried artichoke hearts!!! Or the carpaccio(I will assume its seasonal and will be back in the summer). Ashlee, the GM has moved up in this corporate expansion of restaurants, waiting for the soft opening of their digs — Flank — in Waltham. In the meantime, Liz the new manager, and my adorable Amanda(assistant GM), have the new chef, menu and staff, flowing like a brook. We came over for a Sancerre tasting — 3 wines and lots LOTS of noshing of their high sellers, for $ 20 — gratuities included — CRAZY value, GREAT evening, GREAT staff. The short rib pizza is FOODPORN on dough. Not apt for junior eyes… Just raw, animal flavor. The spoons worth of artichoke /mushroom risotto killed it with the Red pairing. And a great time was had by the tiny group that weathered the cold. 29 Sudbury is hip and happy, cater to families, and rock special events. But their GREATEST strength, just like the local dig Rail Trail Flatbread Inc — are their people. The staff make it. The food — it calls to you, but the staff make you feel like you are home. And thats what a full dining experience is about. Oh yeah — ITSPAINFULLYCLEAN!

We sat at the bar, the bar servers were great. We had the beet salad first which was amazing. Roasted beets with walnuts, blue cheese, mustard and frisée, super yummy, I will try to duplicate this at home. Next, I had the scallop chefs special and my husband had the margarita pizza. It took a while to get the main course. The bar was full but the restaurant was empty. The pizza arrived and it was soggy and cold. We escalated this to the server who was very apologetic and sent it back. The scallop special was barely ok. The flavors were promising however the execution failed. The scallops were room temp at best. They were cooked well so they probably would have been delicious if I had received them when they were initially done. The rest of the plate was cold. $ 33 later I feel like this was a total miss. So overall, there is potential but they can’t execute. I also feel like there are a lot of mixed reviews so maybe soliciting feedback at the restaurant would help them improve more quickly. I would suggest a feedback card with each dish, not only how the dish was but what changes would be recommended, then they could get a feel for consumer opinion.

I have wanted 29 to be successful, great location and cool bars. The food is so inconsistent(we have been sick twice). Sangria is cut with a cup of sprite and the wine pours are tiny… only order a bottle if you go. They need to reduce attrition in the kitchen, have a grand reopening and, we will try it again. Again, we want you to succeed… you have the best location and nice ambiance but you need to focus on getting the basics right!

I have to tell you that we had a very bad experiences at this restaurant one Saturday. It was after a funeral. My daughter did not have a lot of time and we were close. We were there almost 2 hours. First there were no tables so we sat at the bar. Other people were waited on who came in after us. My tea came to me cold. I ask for a hot cup. It took a while and it was not much warmer. Finally food came out, but for 2 of us it was incorrect. He had put the order in wrong. So a longer wait. In the mean time more people cam to the bar. Ordered. Then the waiter came out to them and told them the drinks were on the house but there would be no food. «THEKITCHENHADRUNOUTOFFOOD!». The 2 of us still had to wait a long while for our food. I ask the waiter how they were going to open that night if they had no food. Apparently there was a bar mitzvah up stairs. We got no apology and my daughter got no reduction on her bill. She paid. Also, the 2 of us who waited found out food not very tasty. On mine the sauce was just in the fold of the bread and not on the meat. VERYDISAPPOINTED!

Just recently moved to Sudbury and have been trying the local spots to eat. Tried 29 Sudbury for the first time last week because it’s very close to our house. Although the outside isn’t too impressive the inside is nice and much bigger than I expected. The service was very good, but the food was excellent! We went as a party of six and not a single person had anything but praise for their meal. Definitely recommend!

A favorite spot for awhile now. Close to home. Often easy to sit right down. Had no idea they even did brunch until this morning. And O. M. G. Fantastic brunch! We have officially declared it our new favorite brunch place. Bloody Marias started off the meal(it’s a Bloody Mary with tequila, instead of vodka.) Very good flavor. Traditional. Simple. Fresh. No acrid bite I get sometimes from other restaurants. For an extra treat, they have a Bloody Mary bar where you can mix and match vodkas, rims, and even add a giant shrimp skewer. For food, I went lunch-y and had a burger and fries, and a side of bacon. It was perfectly cooked, juicy and flavorful. Bacon had great flavor, I just wish it had been a thicker cut to make it different from everyone else’s bacon. French fries here are always good. The BF had the biscuits and gravy. He’s a southern boy and has been searching for great biscuits and gravy since he’s lives here. In his words, it’s not traditional southern style, but it was by far the tastiest biscuits and gravy he’s had up here. The biscuits were light, buttery and everything you’d want in a biscuit. The gravy didn’t try to be a southern style sawmill gravy. It stood out all on its own as a northern Italian style, lots of sausage, garlic and a little peppery kick. Very excited that one our favorite go-to spots has brunch. Can’t wait to come back.

I must say I was a little hesitant to try this place after reading some of the reviews but my co-worker suggested it and I wasn’t paying so we made a reservation on OpenTable. While waiting for everyone to arrive a couple of us grabbed drinks at the bar. I had a wonderful Cucumber Sangria. The bar is a nice size, and they have a great selection of cocktails but the service was a bit slow. The décor downstairs is rather odd, unfinished. I know that’s the look they were going for but it just didn’t work for us. Especially for a $$$ place. We were seated upstairs when we were ready which was nice because we were the only party up there so it was rather intimate. Our server Sandy was wonderful! Knowledgeable and funny. She guided us through the menu making all the right suggestions. For apps we had the Carpaccio, Burrata, Italian Sausages and Fried Artichokes. All were well presented and delicious. My favorite were the artichokes which I never thought I’d say! They were amazing! They have awesome bread too. For an entrée I got the Carbonara which I also couldn’t find anything wrong with. My co-workers enjoyed their Flat Iron steaks and Scallop dish. In a party of 5 no one had any complaints. Although we all noticed upstairs the décor was nicer but also unfinished. The pictures were the wrong size for the wall and the sconces were misplaced. Obviously not a deal breaker but we’re in the business and observe such things. I think the bill was $ 390 before tip but we shared a bottle of wine, apps, entrees, desserts, cocktails — we went all out. Sure it was a bit pricey but DUH you’re in Sudbury! Wouldn’t mind coming back :)

The service was good and the atmosphere was decent save for constant bad pop music through some really low quality speakers. More importantly, though, the food was bafflingly bad for its price – expect overcooked scallops, undercooked risotto, lukewarm soup, and unappealing quasi-creative flavor combinations all over the menu. This alone wouldn’t merit a one-star rating, but the absurd prices and unfairly inflated expectations for the meal make it a bitter pill to swallow. BYOB to Applebee’s then burn a 100 dollar bill for a comparable experience.

29 Sudbury is positioning itself to be an alternative to driving downtown for a high end meal. There are plenty of options in this class in neighboring Wayland and Wellesley. The setting was nice but did not have the higher end feel that other restaurants of this class do. When I say«this class«, I am referring most specifically to the cost of eating there. Our meal for 2 adults and 2 kids totaled $ 240. This was before tip. A salad, truffle fries and some oysters were our appetizer. All was good but the Flying Point oysters were disappointingly small though tasty. 2 of the 6 were laughably tiny. At $ 20 I would expect better. My prosciutto wrapped cod was wonderful and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, there is no specific kids menu, although they are very accommodating for kids by altering the entrée choices to suit your child’s taste. My kids split the chicken parmigiana. Another reason why the $ 240 price seemed a bit high was because it was for only 3 entrees. You will spend Boston prices of $ 30 — $ 45 per entrée unless you go with the pizza or pasta which looked great as servers brought it by us to other tables. I didn’t need to go GF here, but if you do your options are gluten free pizza dough and pasta. Other entrees will be prepared to your needs to ensure it is GF. We enjoyed the outdoor patio space. The weather was beautiful and conducive to an outdoor meal. Overall, the food was good, the drink menu was nicely inclusive, the menu was properly varied, and the service was very good. Why only 3 stars? The pricing. Too high in my opinion. A reduction of T least 10−15% would be more acceptable. When considering a well deserved 20% tip, a total bill of almost $ 300 for apps, drinks, — dinner and dessert, 3 entrees, 2 desserts is too high for us to come back anytime soon. I recommend it if you aren’t too concerned about what the final bill is.

Went for my anniversary. Bartender was great. Food. Well it was disappointing. I ordered the rib eye at $ 34 I expected a 2inch cut and cooked to order. I received a ¼ inch steak and med well. Really! They tried to replace it with their short ribs. It was over salted, dry and the potato pancake was cold. My wife’s salad was also over salted. Sorry no stars this ship is sinking. Unilocal want me to post a star rating I am foxed to give it a 1. I wanted 0

I’ve tried a dining here a few times, and each time it seems to fall a bit further off my radar. The Staff: very friendly hostesses, and waiters/tresses. The upside of dining here. The Space: really well designed, overlapping the look for the area while keeping it modern. The Food: As others have noted, falls flat. I would be fine with the price point is the food warranted it. Portions are fine, but the food mimics all other high end bars, while falling flat on flavor. The Bar: stick to the draft and wine lists. Imaginative cocktails in description, but again seem to fall flat, and specifically in the ginger beer for Kentucky/Moscow Mules. I know 29 Sudbury is trying hard to make a new destination in the MetroWest area, but for the time being I’ll look to the area’s tried and true hits.

Food and drink highly over priced. Short draft list with nothing special. Beer in bottles WAY over priced. Food was OK, but portion sizes were a bit ridiculous. $ 17 antipasto appetizer had a max of $ 3 worth of food on it. I had the braised short ribs, which were cooked perfectly, but was served on an insultingly large portion of pasta. General atmosphere was a little bit weird too. Very dark and spread out. Feels like it is trying to be fancier than it actually is.

½ BRUNCH We just had brunch here for the first time and it was delicious! The food far outshines the regular lunch and dinner menu. While the Bloody Mary bar looked very appealing, we stuck with regular beverages. I had the crab eggs Benedict and got the sauce in the side. Comes on brioche. So, so good. The big highlight was the home fries. Grated, crispy, sautéed onions mixed in… so good. Similar to super tasty potato latkes. My friend got the picture I’m posting with this. Absolutely obscene. Plenty of options for children as well. The kitchen continues to be very, very slow as it has been since the place opened, which is a bummer. The prices also continue to be too high. Two thumbs up for this brunch-best I’ve had around. Great discovery!

The service was fine, but I wasn’t a fan of the food. It sounded so good on the menu, but was very bland. Fried artichoke($ 10) was lacking in flavor which was disappointing since I had read the review that it was supposed to be great. I did like the lemon arincini($ 10) but it wasn’t very lemony. The halibut($ 33) was the biggest disappointment. It came out semi-warm and completely dried out and overcooked. My friends risotto($ 20) tasted okay, but nothing special. It all seemed overpriced and under seasoned.
