Note, this review is based on only intial contact(based upon which I wouldn’t recommend going any further). After meeting at my home to discuss my landscaping needs, Mike(the owner) told my wife and I that he would send us a proposal for the cost of our landscaping needs as well as the cost of the design. At the time, he indicated that the design would be included if we choose to have his firm do the landscaping. Upon receiving the quote, it was noted that only 25% of the cost of the design would actually be included(first warning sign!). I left a message for Mike to discuss this and some additional questions on the proposal, however, the message wasn’t returned for several days(second warning sign!). Upon finally getting a call back from Mike, I asked about the cost of the design and why it wouldn’t be included even though that was what he had originally indicated. The short answer is that the job wasn’t large enough, of course, he could have/should have known that before doing a bait and switch(third warning sign!). The next and last question was more basic; what is included in the budget(i.e., what am I going to get for the thousands of dollars that you are going to charge). Straightforward question that other landscapers don’t have a problem answering. His response was that he couldn’t say and he then proceeded to hang up(final warning sign!). Old adige, if someone isn’t willing to disclose what you are paying for, don’t pay!
