My wife and I usually eat at either Amish Door, Mrs. Yoder’s, or The Der Dutchman. We heard about this place when our church group stopped by Mrs. Yoder’s a month ago so we thought we’d give it a try. The food and staff were excellent. We usually prefer the salad bar or sometimes both the salad and hot food bars. We hit both during our visit. Both were wonderful. On the Salad side I tried their chicken salad and found it was the best I’ve had in a very long time. The rest of the salad side was average. For the hot food side, I tried the dressing(very good), the bread pudding(very good), and the broasted chicken. The broasted chicken was tender, but tasted also a little over-cooked and dry. I would have expected this if we arrived well after the lunch crowd, but we were there right after they opened. Will we be back, most likely, but our favorite places are the Amish Door, and Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen, with Mrs. Yoder’s being my preferred, while Amish Door is my wife’s.

In this area there are many Amish style restaurants, and this one I really enjoy. They have both a cold salad bar and hot buffet. Favorites for us include the broccoli slaw, chicken(so tender), and garlic mashed potatoes with cheese. The food is well stocked and the flavors are good. Homemade rolls and peanut butter crème start off the meals. The oreo pudding dessert and hoho cake were great ways to finish the meal. The restaurant also has a specials board and the ability to order off the menu, but we never do.

My family and I had dinner there tonight. I thought the food was very good. My youngest didn’t care for the gravy. The biggest complaint I have is that our waitress never really checked on us at all. We basically had to flag her down to get a refill and she seemed very distracted and not very friendly. But over all still a nice place.

Great food, pleasant staff, clean store. Buffet could be a little bigger but overall was a very nice experience. The pricing was well done too. The bread pudding in the buffet is fantastic, one of the better bread pudding I have had. The restrooms where clean and there was ample parking… What more could one ask for?

Delicious buffet — the pot roast tender and full of flavor — best corn that I feel I have ever eaten! The wheat rolls are delicious with the peanut butter spread. I do generally skip dessert only as I prefer to buy donuts for later in the back!

We come here several times each year and are never disappointed. Today I had the Stuffed Pepper Special with green beans. It was delicious. Had to send back the green beans to be heated up, but that can happen anywhere. The lady of the house had Ham and Bean Soup and it was delicious as well and perfectly seasoned. I finished with a dessert sampler of three half slices of pies of my choice: sugar free cherry, Banana Crean and Strawberry. All were very tasty. Come for the service and stay for the food!

The closest thing to going to an actual Amish home :), although there is a big difference from what it was 5yrs ago. The food cost has taken some valor. As in what they prepare and how they prepare. The cost to eat there is incredibly low.

I don’t usually go for the buffet. This review is for the Chicken Fried Steak. Perfectly sized, juicy and flavorful Mashed potatoes perfect and addicting, actually I’m glad they only served what they did, even though it was plenty enough, I could have consumed more. The rolls are pillow soft and sop up the gravy and butter perfectly Salad Bar, believe me, just get this in lieu of your second side. Our table of three shared the pie sampler, which at other places are 3 full slices of pie. Dutch Apple, Cherry and Banana Cream all so good. It’s nice 90 minute drive from Cleveland. We went for lunch on Monday so, the crowds weren’t really a factor.

We had a wonderful first experience today and plan to come again very soon! The menu is quite extensive and was a bit overwhelming, but our kind waitress helped us decide. Hubby and I both decided on getting the buffet… for the price, it could not be beat! Everything we ate was delicious, but my favorite was the broasted chicken. it was everything chicken should be… perfectly seasoned, moist and deliciously tender! We are very excited to return soon!

Amazing home style food. Rolls are amazing. I have eaten all three meals here in the past couple months. No complaints. The staff is very pleasant. The buffet is clean and is kept well stocked. After dinner stop in at the bakery and get some if the best desserts, homemade bread or just about anything your heart desires.

I’ve only eaten here once, I did the buffet a couple years ago and thought it was impressive overall. At places like this I always feel like buying a meal is silly bc it costs almost as much as the buffet and you only get to try one thing. I’ve been back to the bakery portion of the restaurant several times. Great hoho cake, German chocolate pie, cranberry muffin, and probably some other things I’m forgetting.

I had the buffet. It was incredibly average. There was nothing on there that I thought was great. I felt like I was eating at a smaller Golden Corral or something. Perhaps if I had ordered off the menu, it would have been better. I don’t know. I was not impressed. You can tell they have been taken over by a corporation. I would say the food was simply mediocre and that is the highest praise I can offer… if that tells you anything.

First visit here. Even on a Saturday night(about 6:00pm) the line was only about 10 minutes which was great. Overall the place was clean and friendly and the food was good. The desserts(peach pie, german chocolate pie, and hot fudge brownie) we ordered were all a hit. I thought their stuffing(dressing) was some of the best I’ve ever had. The biggest miss was the broasted chicken, which was a let down. I was looking forward to the broasted chicken after reading the rave reviews on it. I ordered the 3 pc mixed dinner. The breast piece I had was slightly chewy, and the seasoning/coating was bland on both white and dark. It was at least crispy and made from quality chickens(not a ton of fat, no hormone, etc.) If/when we get back to the area, I will try the baked chicken next time.

Ate dinner here while staying at Carlisle Inn and was pleased with the quality of the food. Fresh and generous servings on the Buffett, there is plenty to choose from. The kids portions are extremely generous. The atmosphere is family friendly, and the service was good too. We will definitely eat here again.

I was skeptical about eating here. I’ll admit I don’t have good experiences with Amish or homestyle food. ITWASAMAZING. I will drive down from Cleveland anytime anyone wants to go to Amish Country just to eat here. Now there is a menu and a buffet. I usually stay away from buffets. They are usually questionable at best. This one was pristine. THere was a girl cleaning it constantly while people were serving themselves. The salad part had a great variety and(this impressed me) the broccolli and cauliflower were crumbled up so you could sprinkle them on your salad. Their dressings were amazing and must have been homemade. The sweet and sour/poppyseed was amazing. Croutons were wheat and had to be homemade and there was freshly grated cheese! The three cold salads were amazing. Delicious. ANd they give you fresh rolls that are heavenly. There was a hot section as well, but honestly I would have happily paid the $ 13 for just the salad part. There was two types of mashed potatoes and they were delicious. There was also fried chicken, pot roast veggies and a few other items. My mom tried the pot roast and she said it was the best she’s ever had. Melted. So, to say again, I’m reallly picky and this was maybe the best salad I’ve ever had. Worth the drive.

I have visited several of the area Amish restaurants, and Dutch Valley is my absolute favorite. If you are looking for home-style cooking, I’d say that Dutch Valley offers the best value and the tastiest options. My favorite is the broasted chicken – delicious, tender, and not dry at all. This restaurant has full-meal menu options, a salad bar, and a hot food bar. I’m not much for food bars, so I typically order from the menu. Although this isn’t the place for a quiet dinner(seating is in a large dining room), for the taste of Amish country, this restaurant can’t be beat.

I love Dutch Valley Restaurant in Sugarcreek, Ohio. When I am craving good home-style cooking I drive 2 hours south of Cleveland to embrace the simple way of life. Many different things to choose from on the menu, which is actually your place mat as well. You can not go wrong with the broasted chicken. Down home Amish style cooking. Dutch Valley has a salad bar for those who want to eat on the lighter side as well. Great for families and large groups. On the weekends get here early as they do not take reservations and they are closed on Sundays. If you show up and you have to wait… it really is completely worth the wait. Before you leave, stop in the bakery and pick up some yummy treats to take home. The snickerdoodles are my favorite!
