When I came across this multi layered poofy very Carrie dress at a thrift store for $ 10 dollars with not a flaw, I knew I had to have it and I had just the occasion coming up to wear it to– the marine ball! Only problem was the size, it was 2 sizes bigger than what I wear. I think this made the length perfect because I don’t like above knee fits, but of course my torso was swimming. I imagined wearing a padded bra and a belt, then I realized for a dress that’s only $ 10 I can totally afford to get it professionally tailored. So I took it to Josephine’s, who I heard about from some military people as their go to tailor. i came in and was measured and left my dress with my pick up date and time(picked it upon the day of the ball, during my lunch break at work). It fit beautifully! I was worried what a dress taken in two sizes would look like especially because he fabric is delicate and has this pleated texture and I have flashbacks to my junior prom dress having this bunching sides after being taken in at a dry cleaners, I even had a back-up LBD. I was very happy when I examined my dress and tried it on. It was cut in the back and the zipper re-sewn in so it fit perfect and had no bunching or asymmetrical weirdness like my junior prom dress did. I wish I had pics to show of me in the dress but unfortunately I got very sick the night of the ball, my skin was literally green even and I went pretty much to just make the appearance :(but at least I had a really cute dress, I hope I get a chance to wear it again! From now on if I ever need a dress taken in, I will go straight to Josephine’s and never to a dry cleaner lol

Needed a shirt altered and pants taken in for a cruise. Brought items in on Thursday(5÷15÷14) morning and she said they could be done by Tuesday(5÷20÷14) for our departure the following day. I called Monday(5÷19÷14) just to verify that my items would be completed and she stated that I’d be done by Tuesday afternoon. I showed up today(5÷20÷14) and with a blank stare, she said«oh, that’s the shirt and pants I said would be done today. They’re not done.» Sadly, I won’t be going back.

Reasonable prices, you just tell her when you need it ready

Terrible terrible terrible. I was told when my alterations would be ready. Went back on that date. Not ready. Told another date, went back, still not ready. Told a third date and waited an extra couple of days to ensure it would be ready. Had to go back three times because the first two times I went during the business hours she set up, no one was there. When I finally got my alterations, two weeks after what I was told would only take two days, the work was mediocore at best. Very unhappy.

Josephine is one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met. I started coming here when one of my husband’s belt loops on his jeans ripped on one end and created a hole in his jeans so I couldn’t simple re-stitch it. I called around to several places, but Josephine’s was by far the cheapest! And she did an excellent job! Now my aunt uses her for all of her alternation needs.
