Place has plenty of character thats for sure. Took a few beers before anyone would talk to me. Great bartender and super friendly guy from Ireland. Watched some football here and jumped on the bus to Greenpoint. Been back many times since when I have to go Greenpoint to Sunnyside.

Bartender was super rude from the beginning. Asked her what she recommended… she said«is this your first time at a bar».totally rude.

It’s a dive. The drink selection is limited but adequate. The drunks are friendly. The service attentive and courteous, The prices damned good. There is a back garden for smokers, which wafts a bit back into the bar if you’re sensitive about that stuff… or if you’re smoker maybe you like it. Theres a pool table that is easy to get a shot at.

This is a quiet, no-frills pub. And that’s exactly why I like it. The crowd is a bunch of regulars, mostly Irish, so don’t hesitate to introduce yourself to the staff and crowd particularly if you are new to the neighborhood. They love locals here as that is their bread and butter :-) Cute little outdoor area in the back with a TV. Again, this is a very no frills place, and while not the most popular place in Sunnyside, has a true community vibe which I think is part of the charm. It is a place to relax and chat, not a party place.

If you ever find yourself toying with the idea of going to The Greenpoint Lounge — please call me immediately! Any time, any day, and I will gladly escort you to any of the other 30+ Irish Pubs within its five block radius. This place is a vile cesspool — which until now was a term I reserved for the RiteAid on Greenpoint. My roommate and I walked past one evening, and decided to duck in for a night cap. My first observation was that the bartender was drunker than the 3 other patrons in the place. It took her over 5 minutes to acknowledge we were alive, and another 10 to get us two beers. My bottle of Bud Light literally had sand on it for some reason. Sand. After finishing about half of her draft beer, my roommate mentioned that it tasted sweet and slightly vinegary. I called the bartender over and suggested that perhaps their lines were bad. I-kid-you-not — the bartender walked over, took a gulp from my roommate’s glass, slammed it down on the bar and said«It tastes fine to me!» and walked away. We left, and my roommate spent the better part of her night violently throwing up. All of that in mind, what bothered me most was not the intoxicated staff, the rude service, the unhygienic facilities, or the botchulism. It was the damn Adele they blasted on repeat the entire time we were there. If I wanted to be unbearably sad while drinking, I would have done what I usually do — which is drink alone in my room while looking in the mirror.

Nice irish pub. Nice bartenders, nice people. Drinks were reasonably priced. I’m a fan.

In what only felt like moments after I wrote my Black Lamb review( ), Greenpoint Lounge took over and probably became the 5th reincarnation in as many years. The edge is no longer there(grr, Black Lamb!), but for the most part it’s the same place. In spite of it’s name change, Greentpoint Lounge still feels like an Irish pub far more than a lounge. Not much has changed décor wise, minus a few pieces on the wall and possibly a newer TV, people who never paid attention to the name may never know they stepped into another bar. Bartenders are pretty nice, with generous pours for various beers on tap that include a mean Guiness and Hoegaarden. For some reason it feels pricier than it’s predecessor, but I suppose that comes with territory whenever something new comes along. Bathrooms seem cleaner and I haven’t had a chance to see their back patio as it’s not summer yet. What is also true is this place is about as dead as Black Lamb. I’ve been here on weeknights and stopped in on the weekends and there are usually less than 4 – 5 people total, most of whom are sitting idly at the bar. My hope is this place becomes more vivacious or it’s only a matter of time before another name change.
