I love this fish market. I usually go to get Clams here. Delicious, haven’t had a bad experience. One time I went in and got the Fish Roe. So good!

Friendly owners, the fish I have purchased has always been good quality and I like that they have a wide selection! You have to ask to find out what is wild and what is farmed, but other than that, am satisfied and come here often.

Hard to believe that some people are giving this place five stars. It’s mediocre at best. It’s true that it’s the only fish market in the area — the seafood selection at grocery stores nearby is pathetically paltry — so this place gets its two stars for simply existing. It is fishy smelling in there, and the freshness of the fish is often disappointing. I’ve stepped foot in the store without buying anything at least three or four times before finally settling on a fillet of cod. I had to give it a fair shot, I thought. The man in there(an older man, my guess is the husband and not the assistant whom I think some of the other reviewers have referred to) cut my fillet silently. I gave the couple a hearty thank you and they didn’t even look my way, much less respond. Yeesh. Maybe they were in a bad mood. The prices are not phenomenal, but I’m willing to let that pass because I know it’s family-owned and I don’t mind spending an extra few bucks supporting a local business. The cod turned out fine, but in the future, I’ll probably trek elsewhere to buy my fish.

I like this place a lot. The price is fair and quality is good. I wish they had more variety, but the place is small like all sunnysode shops are. I love the convenience of having a fish market around, because there aren’t any others in the neighborhood. The bad: They close early every night and they are closed on sundays. I would go there every Sunday if they were open, because it’s near by and I’m off work. The fish prices are a bit higher than flushing main street area, but worth the time saving and driving plus gas. I like this place, overall. The staff is friendly, a bit rushy rushy.

Sunny Fish Market(Fish Market on the business sign) is one of the few decent available fish markets in the Sunnyside area, owned by a lovely Korean couple. I purchased halibut and salmon, both which were highly fresh and covered in ice to ensure quality. The fish butcher could accurately measure the weight(.5 lbs./1lbs.) without actually measuring the weight. I was impressed. Note it smells quite fishy inside, granted it is a fish market. Closed Sundays.

I come here when I’m in the mood to cook seafood. I usually get Chilean seabass(frozen), shrimp and mussels. Everything has always been fresh and the prices are reasonable. They do take cards but a minimum of $ 10 which at a fish mkt is hard to spend less than that anyway. The employees which I believe are the owners are always helpful and the service is fast.

This is a 3.5 star review. We always come here since there aren’t any real fish markets in Woodside. If anyone knows of one please let me know! Pros: The fish seems fresh and never frozen. They have a good variety of fish like atlantic salmon(although i’m no fish expert so that might not really mean anything) It always seems clean. Located right on queens blvd 2 blocks from the train. They accept credit and debit cards Cons: although they take cards they have a $ 10 minimum and they don’t make exceptions I once went to buy shrimp and even though it was about $ 9 they still made me go to the ATM(minus 1 star for that). The prices are also on the higher side for example a salmon fillet goes for about 10.99 lb.(minus .5 star).

The places smells really fishy which always leaves me scared. I’ve purchased clams, mussels, squid and sea scallops from them. All were good, I did question the smell of the scallops but they weren’t sticky so I cooked them and they turned out fine. The woman owner is a hot unorganized mess but the assistant is great and helpful!

I have always had good fish here. Small, family owned local business. Great QPR when you consider I live on the block and there is not much for seafood options in the immediate area. Except for the live lobsters, clams & mussels I assume all the fish is previously frozen and not at the level of dayboat-fresh. Recommended.

i bought three pounds of flounder filet here, i took it home and put on a plate so i could rinse and bread it, when i went to rinse the second of 8 pieces there was a worm squirming out of the filet, i was disgusted absolutely horrified that there was a worm in my supposedly fresh fish, i inspected the rest of the filets and found a total of 3 more in the next two filets before i just stopped, videotaped the worms squirming out of the filets, bagged it and returned to the market. the proprietor had the audacity to tell me that its ok, that its natural. i showed him the video and explained to him that i wanted fish and not fish and worms TAPEWORMSNATURAL? i asked politely for a refund and was refused, I demanded a refund and the owner refused… i left the fish on the counter and stood outside telling anyone that was entering the store of my experience and offering to show them the video after two people decided not to enter and 1 person inside left after seeing the live worms squirming out of the fish the owner relented and refunded my cost. i should have been given a refund immedietely and not had to go through such an ordeal, the wort part is after i was refunded i went back to look through the window and saw them putting the fish that i returned back on display. just horrible

I’m gonna start off with a three because this shop does smell unnecessarily fishy buuuuuut I’ve purchase seafood from here on several occasions: mahi mahi, shrimp, salmon, talapia, lobster and mussels. I’ve never been disappointed(or sick which is an extra bonus). Not to mention the surrounding grocery stores have a sad excuse for seafood selection for The Fish Market is the next best option. The lobsters are super reasonable — $ 10/lb — and the staff is really nice.

This is a decent last minute place to grab fresh fish if you’re in a rush. Back when I lived in Sunnyside, this was THE place to go as an alternative to Key Foods or the trek to the nearest Whole Foods. Now in Woodside, I still frequent when i can. They carry your basic items– Salmon(Steak and Filet), Snapper, Filet of Sole, Halibut, Cod, Lobster etc. They offer de-boning as well. I haven’t ever been dissatisfied with their product or prices until just a few weeks ago when I purchased shrimp(which didn’t taste as fresh as I had wanted it to). I’m hoping that changes the next visit. And, if for some reason, you forget a garnish, they’re stocked with parsley, chives, lemons/limes and garlic. Friendly staff too.

I got some squid and soft shell crab here. The crab was stellar and the squid was good. They also have some organic farmed salmon options too.

I am sorry but if I can smell the stanky smell of rotting fish when I get out at the 46th street station, you better believe I am not coming inside to buy my seafood. It’s that or heavy heavy smells of chlorine, which mean they just scrubbed out the stank smell. Either way, grossly uninspiring to get seafood here.
