So NOT surprised this place closed down. Good food with terrible ownership, so sad.

I wish I could give 4 ½ stars for this place. I ordered from the delivery menu and haven’t had a chance to pop over to the actual roadhouse just yet, but I will say it’s on my list of places to visit… and soon. And I’m sure this review will bump up to a 5 star review once that happens. I called the place directly. The woman taking my order couldn’t have been nicer and repeated my order for clarity. She quoted me about 35 mins and the order arrived around 30 mins. I agree with Demian F. – the food arrived on time and piping hot. She even sent a follow up text to see if the order arrived and inquired about how the food was.(Nice customer service!) The pulled pork/BBQ mac & cheese was… the mac. Definitely order it. And I hope it never leaves the menu. The truffle mac & cheese was also very good. Kinda wish the mushrooms were a little smaller. I think they should add a lobster mac & cheese, but that’s just me. :) The wings were crispy and yummy. And we also ordered the buttermilk popcorn chicken, which was also very good. And the pecan pie is damn good. The portions are super big, so don’t worry about under ordering. And the prices are very reasonable. Definitely a nice addition to Sunnyside.

Wild turkey claims they will deliver just about anywhere… And they are correct because they deliver to my apt and im waaaayyy on the other side of the blvd. Before ordering from them on seamless i was lucky enough to try them out at Unilocal’s Springtacular event where I had some truffle mac and cheese and it was so good and creamy that i took the trek the following week. This place threw me off a bit you walk in and it looks like a bar walk further in and you see tables on the left and a backyard with some comfortable patio chairs and tables. We decided to sit in the back which was sort of a bad idea because with all the food we ate we almost fell asleep there. –Must order: All the mac and cheese varieties it’s just that good. –The burgers are hit or miss i have ordered multiple times and it can be dry sometimes. –BBq items like brisket etc are also delicious and you can’t go wrong on any of them. FYI the menu CONSTANTLY changes so be prepared to try something different every time but don’t worry it won’t dissapoint.

Well, it may have been the fact that it was 7 degrees out, but I decided to order from here via Grubhub. There were quite a few disparaging reviews citing their delivery service, but I can’t say I had the same experience. The food came on time and piping hot. So it seems they have learned their lesson. Every item on their menu sounded delicious and I couldn’t decide what to get, so I went a little over board. I ordered the Lobster Bisque to start, velvety smooth and lobsterific flavor. I can’t say I tasted the«chunks» of lobster like the menu called out, but the flavor was definitely spot on. I followed this with the Jerk Wings. I had one of these before my taste buds were completely overwhelmed. It had a VERY powerful jerk taste, but it was almost too much. Then came the BBQ and Mac and Cheese. This was the perfect balance of sweet n’ tasty BBQ pork and cheesy buttery goodness. A+. For kicks I picked up the buttermilk popcorn chicken as a chaser. Very good crispy chunks of chicken. Not the best I’ve ever had but definitely above average. Final Verdict: Everything was clearly on the delicious side of the spectrum, but none of these items completely knocked my socks off. They don’t have any staple dishes, but what they do put out, they do it well with a wide variety of very tasty treats.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My husband and I saw this place on and decided to order from here. I placed the order and got the update that it would be here in roughly an hour. I figured since it was a Friday night that it was no big deal. After the hour was up, I got another message stating it was going to take an additional HOUR for it to come. When I called, the girl who answered the phone was less than personable. I had told her we ordered via the website and before she even asked what my name was or for any other information she got all defensive and told me that it just left and they were short staffed… I had asked her how much longer because if it was going to be another hour, I didn’t want it. She told me it would be here in 10 – 15 minutes. That was 20 minutes ago. I’m less than thrilled with this place and will probably never order from here again. UPDATE: The food came and it was not very good. at all.

I’m gonna have to give Wild Turkey 2 stars, but I want to explain why. I work at a local office and we recently found Wild Turkey pop up on GrubHub, we decided to try them for lunch and their food was very very good. We had the pulled pork mac n cheese, the truffle mac n cheese, and the tavern burger. Being a Texan who was displaced temporarily to New York(sorry New Yorkers, I just love my home too much to claim to be one of you) it’s been impossible to find good barbecue up here. I was pleasantly surprised by Wild Turkey, their food was so good we almost made them a daily staple here. Unfortunately after our first two orders things went a bit downhill from there, hence the«almost» part. Whenever we order from Wild Turkey we have to wait until the actual start of lunch break due to their posted opening time of 12pm, this is no real trouble as the food is worth the wait and we just delay when we take lunch. The problem comes in that as posted on GrubHub(and apparently Eat24) their hours are wrong. Our first order was placed on a Thursday and went fine, the following Friday we again ordered, this time my coworker tried the pulled pork mac n cheese that I had the previous day and I tried their Texan burger. The food took a bit to deliver but not long enough to bother us and was again very good. The next Monday we tried ordering again, just to be notified about an hour later that the restaurant informed them they were not taking orders that day. Fair enough, we found somewhere else to order and decided to come back to them on a later day. The next order was on the Wednesday following, we again delayed lunch to place our order and again were told about 40 minutes after that the restaurant wasn’t responding to confirm the order so our order had been cancelled. At this point we were a bit curious so we called the restaurant and were told they only deliver food on Thursday and Friday by the nice waitress. Again, fair enough, most likely a mistake on GrubHub then that they were just having trouble getting fixed. We waited till Friday and attempted another order, but when we were going to place the order at 12:10PM the restaurant still showed as closed. The next week their posted hours on GrubHub are 4pm to 1am daily now, which takes us completely off the list of customers. Eat24 still shows them as open daily 12pm to 1am, however, but with their track record we would rather not risk fasting. We decided to just cut our losses and stop trying to order from them. In the end I rate two stars, because their food is great but it seems they only want to serve when they feel like it and the odds are almost as good as the lottery’s on if you’re going to catch them open.

currently under renovations of some sort. their website fails to point this out, and in retrospect we should have checked more recent Unilocal reviews, but wanted to use a Unilocal deal before it expired and rushed over on Friday night. walk in, and we’re in what seems to be a small under-construction sports bar. uhhh… did we shlep to Sunnyside in the rain for this? after finding a table that was secure enough to eat on(third time’s the charm), we were given a drastically truncated version of the menu. hmm. I’ve had their stuff at some local events(both Unilocal and non-Yelp) and was expecting to try some more options. however, the food was great! I had a pulled pork sandwich which was large, juicy and tender, with a sweet BBQ sauce and on a pretzell roll to boot. the steak fries it came with were perfect. I tried some of Caroline’s truffle mac and cheese, which was alright. service was good, and the prices were alright. the Unilocal deal certainly helped, as it covered pretty much our entire dinner! I’d like to come back when they’ve finished the renovations, to see what the place looks like when it’s done and hopefully try the full menu.

I bought a Unilocal deal to Wild Turkey Smokehouse months ago and we decided to finally use it this past Friday night. The restaurant itself was a bit off the beaten path and, apparently, the sign had fallen down. We found it nonetheless but the place looked like it was in disarray, though they clearly tried to decorate with the photos of Old Hollywood icons on the wall plus black lights overhead. We were told they were renovating. The first two tables we sat down at toppled over. The menu was clearly adjuncted; we both remembered there being more options on the menu online. I’m weird in that, despite being a very unpicky eater, I don’t eat pork – when you don’t grow up eating something at home, you either develop an affinity for it or find that it tastes strange. This limited my options drastically. I ended up getting the mac ‘n’ cheese with truffle oil and mushrooms. It was pretty good and I could taste the truffle essence but I was hoping for something a bit more inspired that night. The waiter/bartender was sweet and extremely good-natured. If it hadn’t been for him, I may not have left with a good impression and would have given this establishment a two star review. However, I think that once the renovations have been completed and there is a more extensive menu, this place would be worth a second trip. Also, the Unilocal deal covered both of our entrees which, as a baller on a budget, made me happy.

So Wild Turkey is still under construction. Which also means that the food comes from another kitchen controlled by these guys located about 2 blocks away. But it’s worth the wait. The menu, as you can see with some diligence on their website, looks and is legit. Note: Renovations should be finished around February. For our Thursday night feast my friends and I dined on truffle mac & cheese, lobster bisque, shrimp & corn chowder, corn dogs, and a few more things that slipped my mind in the whirlwind of the food coma that followed. And then there was my entrée: a cheeseburger with a pretzel bread bun. Freakin’ hit the spot. Price was decent for a night out, especially given the food quality(~ $ 25 pp)

Rae, Rae, Rae… what can I say? First, I have to apologize. This review is very belated as I thought I had posted it previously, but it was in draft form only on my mobile. Wild Turkey is far-and-away my favorite place from which to order delivery in LIC. I love how Rae and his team are constantly striving to try new things with the menu while still keeping the staples that we have come to love(Big Chicken, Truffle Mac and Cheese, fried chicken, pierogies to-die-for) on the board. Like many love affairs, this one started with a rocky start. My wife, Audrey B. has summarized our first interaction back in March with Rae and Wild Turkey and refer you to her 3÷30÷13 review. Since then, we have ordered from«the Turk» an embarassing number of times. I think we’ve tried almost everything on the menu and are always excited to see what special the chef has conjured up. But at the end of the day, the food is only half the story. Rae and his team of delivery guys are always so pleasant when they drop off our food(yes, the owner makes many of his own deliveries). The service is always incredible — we even ordered here on my wife’s birthday and Rae sent us a bottle of wine! One more story. Wild Turkey for a limited time was carrying this really delicious Philadelphia Water Ice. When I saw Rae at one of our recent deliveries, I asked him if he would be carrying it again. He told me that it would be back in stock next week. Well, next week comes and there was some snafu — so no Philadelphia Water ice. I text Rae jokingly and what happens next? He goes to the corner deli, buys a Marino’s Ice and throws it in with our order. Such a nice touch. Rae and his team know that the restaurant business is about more than just serving food. It is developing real relationships with your customers. Rae has a customer for life and we wish the Turk nothing but continued and huge success!

Wild Turkey Smokehouse. I first learn about this place through a Unilocal deal and then I saw them again at the Queens Unilocal Elite Event held at the Museum of Moving Image. All I remember from the entire event was the Truffle Mac & Cheese. *licks lips* So obviously the Truffle Mac & Cheese is a MUSTGET item. Other items we ordered were pulled pork on a roll, burnt ends, sweet potato fries, stout chilli, and the Wild Turkey signature fried oreo. All were good… but Truffle Mac & Cheese is a MUSTGET item. Did I say that it is a MUSTGET item? ENJOY!

This place was so good it almost tricked me into liking coleslaw and I do not like coleslaw! The scene was pretty low-key this evening, but hey, it’s Sunnyside on a Wednesday night. Fine by me, I loved the easy going atmosphere. The waiter/bartender was very prompt in greeting me and taking my order. She had not problem accommodating an off the menu request and the request did not delay the speedy service. Basically, I had the pulled pork with steak fries with a couple modifications. The food was so good, I want to break it down. The pulled pork sandwich I had this evening is safely in my top 5 pulled pork sandwiches ever(I am from rural Kansas if you need credentials) The bread for the sandwich apparently comes from a local bakery in Astoria and it is very fresh. The pork was moist, soft, and nicely seasoned. The BBQ sauce is homemade and strikes a perfect balance between sweet and zingy — amazing. The steak fries were very good too — crispy on the outside, «meaty»(«potatoey?») on the inside. I enjoyed the main course so much I was convinced I’d even like the coleslaw. Unfortunately, I am still not a fan of coleslaw, but I knew that before visiting Wild Turkey. I will definitely be back.

I’m not the type of person to let one mistake ruin a restaurant for me, but if you’re one of those Groupon-wielding, anal retentive types you might want to skip this place because they’re a new business and obviously still working out some kinks. I ordered a Tavern Burger and fries, plus a caramel milkshake, for delivery through GrubHub. I was quoted a time of one hour, but received my food in about 40 minutes. So, as far as delivery service goes, they have their act together. Unfortunately, the burger I received was virtually raw in the middle. Red meat, cold to the touch(although delivery time was a factor) that wasn’t anywhere close to mid-rare. Granted, I wasn’t asked when I ordered through GrubHub how I wanted it cooked, but still it should’ve been in the pink-to-grey range. And I’ve cooked plenty of burgers in a restaurant and at home to know when something is pink and when it is raw. After reheating the burger, putting a fresh slice of cheese from my fridge on it and crisping my steak fries in a separate pan, the meal was tasty. Steak fries had a nice, creamy texture and didn’t taste soggy or greasy. The meat was of a good quality and the bun, bacon and dressings were good, too. I got a caramel milkshake that was a bit too sweet, but by no means does Wild Turkey Smokehouse serve bad food. I called the restaurant after I finished eating and the woman I spoke with was apologetic and friendly. She offered to refund my money through GrubHub(which is all I wanted) and offered a 10% discount on my next order(which I declined.) She didn’t argue with me or give me an attitude that suggested I was making it all up. To sum up: Great delivery guys, good food and friendly service. I will continue to give them my business and you should too.

Where do I begin? The rating would be negative were that possible. And to those who gave positive reviews… well not everybody has good taste. The owner of this restaurant is incompetent and unprepared for the rigors and demands of an NYC crowd. He is more likely suited to handle a strip mall crowd somewhere in the suburbs of New Jersey… though I’m not sure he could even handle that. I will speak for my group of 4 who are by no means overly demanding or difficult. We just want decent food and service without drama. Apparently that is too much to ask from Wild Turkey. When you get shafted you should speak up… therefore this review. The scene: Friday night. The crowd: maybe 4 people besides our group. The restaurant was cold. There was no music on. Awkward, but oh well. It is way off the beaten path in an obscure area that is lucky to have any passers whatsoever. Waitress/bartender came up to us and the exchange went something like this: «Hi, what can I get you?» «Yes, what kind of beers do you have?» «Oh, I’m sorry… we are renovating and not serving any alcohol» (We all glance around to the bar and around the room and observe no renovations… then all furrow our brows trying to understand the illogical connection between what is being said. Renovating, therefore can’t serve beer? And this is a pub? And where are these renovations? Okayyyyy) «Alright, well we have a Groupon…» «Oh, I’ll have to check with the owner since we maybe can’t take the groupon» «Why is that?» «Oh, you need to make reservations? And we can only take so many a week» «Reservations at an empty pub? With 4 people on a Friday night?» She disappeared downstairs for nearly 10 minutes and came back with the predictable answer that the owner said they can’t take the groupon. I asked if I could speak with said owner who was mysteriously not taking guarantees that they signed up for and was hiding downstairs. She said he’s actually out of town and told her over the phone. «Please don’t shoot the messenger. You can make reservations and we can honor the groupon till May» «Oh, we are not into that… but it’s pretty astounding on a dead Friday night why your owner thinks its good business to not take a groupon that is guaranteed till September and can’t serve beer at a pub due to phantom renovations.» The line cook from the obscure basement even made an appearance and could also not offer a plausible explanation. With that, we left for Molly Blooms(which we felt like Norm entering Cheers after this fiasco) and offered to the staff that this was not a good way to build loyal clientele at which they just shrugged their shoulders. This place is obviously going to go out of business very shortly. Do yourself a favor and don’t be inconvenienced by this amateurish owner who doesn’t know what he is doing. People seem to forget that this is a customer service oriented business… but that still doesn’t explain how a pub can go without serving beer. My gut tells me that their liquor license was revoked and that’s why they put that whole renovation story out there. That still doesn’t explain the whole groupon thing? But I won’t be giving them another chance.

Rae, the owner of The Wild Turkey Pub, is committed to making his restaurant truly successful by developing loyal customers. He personally brought us an order to make up for my 3⁄17 disaster dinner, and explained new staff are being trained — our bad order was a fluke and he was sincerely sorry. Seriously, the fact that an owner cares enough about his customers to email and also to come to our door? Incredible. Really, can you recall seeing so much effort and concern for customer satisfaction? Rare. Impressive. So how was it, you ask? Burnt ends so good that I am weeping. My husband reports Lobster Bisque was great and flavorful with a kick(suggestion: more chunks of lobster would make it even better). He loved loved loved Big Chicken(«Oh my God,» he gasped mid-bite — and he is not like that). And of course, that Rae took the time to get our business — well, I cannot wait to order from Wild Turkey Pub again.

Came here for dinner with two friends on a Tuesday night. One friend ordered a beer, but had to go through three or four different choices before finding one that they actually had that night, which were some pretty lowly choices. The waitress informed that their beer delivery doesn’t come until Friday(but they were already out of most things by Tuesday!?) My friend and I both tried to order different types of mac and cheese, of which there are several varieties on the menu. The waitress took our order but then came back to tell us they had no more macaroni cooked and to prepare a large batch would take over a half hour and asked us to order something else. She chose a sandwich and I picked a burger. Well, the food ended up taking over half an hour to come out anyway, and my friend’s sandwich was cold when it did come. My burger was of a normal size(smaller than most other restaurants), which is preferable, but it was about $ 13 which is on par with other places so I felt a little jipped. There was only one other table eating and a few guys sitting at the bar, and took quite a while for us to get our check and get out of there. We were pretty excited to see this place rebrand itself and have an interesting menu, but it doesn’t seem to be living up to what it could be.

DONOTEATHERE! After a long week, we often look forward to Friday nights where we pay someone to cook for us. Unfortunately, Wild Turkey ruined my date night with my wife in splendid fashion. We should’ve known something was wrong when we were the first one’s to arrive for dinner at 7:45pm on Friday. The place was a ghost town. After placing our order and waiting more than a half an hour for undercooked chicken tenders we received our entrees(burgers) I order a medium Texas Burger and it was nothing special. I heard this place serves 10oz burgers but what I got was a tasteless 4oz brick of dried up meat. My wife ordered a well-done Mushroom Geyeher burger and the damn thing comes out practically mooing, straight up RAW beef. It was quickly seared and served up. We immediately flagged the waiter who apologies and says«I’m so sorry. I’ll have them fix this right away.» Five minutes pass and the burger is back in front of my wife and guess what? All they did was flip the burger over, reapplied the cheese and served it still bleeding to my wife! We once again flag the waiter notifying him for a second time that the burger is undercooked. He takes the burger back downstairs and when he returns, he meagerly offers to take the one burger off the bill and send it home with us in a doggy bag. Like I would trust this establishment again. «Here’s a doggy bag so you can be food poisoned in the comfort of your own home!» I think not. We decided to cut our losses and leave right away. So this is how I spent my friday date night with my wife, reliving the horrors of Wild Turkey pub and writing this review. Save yourselves the trouble… seriously!

True rating — 2.5 starts Allow me to preface this review by writing that I whole heartedly support local establishments and understand that it takes several months for a new restaurant to learn its base and develop peak efficiency. Furthermore, my review is based on delivery(Grubhub) and not a dine-in experience. I’m going to provide candid feedback to help improve this business because I believe it has the potential to be a good establishment. And, because the owner reads these comments. I came across this restaurant under Unilocal-Hot New Businesses near me. Based on the reviews on both Unilocal and GrubHub, I was excited to try out of few of the popular items. Delivery via GrubHub: FIrst surprise– $ 3 delivery fee. Who charges for delivery in Sunnyside/Woodside? This place is like 6 blocks from me. There are tons of great restaurants/pubs around here that are free delivery. Not happy, but paid it nonetheless. The estimated time was 30 minutes with an update that it would be more like 60 minutes. It took almost exactly 60 minutes. The poor delivery man was obviously overwhelmed because he apologized, ran out, and I had to yell at him to give him the tip. Food: Based on reviews, I ordered the Truffle Mac n Cheese, Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Oreo dessert. $ 32 –The Truffle Mac n Cheese was overpriced. At $ 10, I was expecting a mind blowing experience. This is probably the cheapest dish to make and it was not worth the price. It arrived warm, but it had ZERO truffle oil and no breadcrumbs. What’s the point? Also, I’m not a fan of shell pasta as it groups with other shells and doesn’t allow the cheese to seep into the pasta. I think elbows would be a better use of pasta. The cheese did taste well and the mushrooms appeared fresh. However, no truffle oil, no truffle taste, no truffle smell makes this a «meh» dish. –Pulled Pork Sandwich. At $ 11, it is reasonably priced and the portion size is generous. It comes with french fries. It arrived stone cold; I had to reheat it and the fries in the microwave. It also arrived with cheese(it wasn’t melted either). This was not on the description and a disappointment because I would have either left the cheese out or changed it to a milder, white cheese. The cheese took away from the fresh coleslaw and delish pork. The pork was well seasoned and not attacked with tons of sauce. You can tell it was high quality pork. The bun was fresh. Overall, I enjoyed the sandwich and will eat the other half for lunch today. However, next time ingredients should be accurately detailed on the website. And, there is NO excuse for cold food. I’d rather wait an extra 10 minutes for hot food than have to reheat it in the microwave. –Oreo cake: $ 6 and seems overpriced. It tasted fine, not anything spectacular, but satisfies the sweet tooth. It should cost more like $ 4. I can get a $ 2.5 slice of fresh baked cake at a local bakery(will not name) that is just as good or even better. Summary: Hot food tastes better so I would imagine that dining at the Wild Turkey Pub is a better experience. I would also assume that the ingredients are clearly labeled on their menus. If I wasn’t starved, I would have demanded that the order be recooked and delivered. I probably will not order delivery from here again, but I’m willing to give them a second chance at the restaurant. I think they still have some kinks to work out and wish them good luck.

I ordered about $ 50 worth of food on a Saturday night and was thoroughly disappointed. The tale of the tape: The mozzarella sticks were cold and salty with no dipping sauces provided. The online delivery site I used specified 12 pieces per order but we only received 8. I was hosed. I ordered the brat sandwich which was soggy and cold with mostly bread and chili and a small piece of bratwurst(pic uploaded). My wife’s crab cake sliders were inedible(she thought they tasted like paint which prompted me to ask… how do you know what paint tastes like?). =) The burnt ends tasted good but a few pieces were very hard and chewy. Also for 9 bucks the portion was very small(pic uploaded). Assuming they gave me a ¼ lbs of burnt ends(it was less than that) it comes out to $ 36 a pound. Ridiculous. Oreo mousse cake was delicious. Not too sweet with a great fluffy texture. 50 bucks down the drain and a wife stuck eating cereal for dinner.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I order last week through grubhub. I got a confirmation email that said it said they would arrive in less than an hour, which is typical of the places around me. Before the hour was up, I started getting a little concerned. I called grubhub, they called the place and then the place called me and told me they were sending my order out and it should arrive in 15 min. 30 min after that, I called grubhub again to complain. Delivery eventually arrived, a good 2 hours too late! By this time I was angry, hungry, and regretting the tip I gave. The food was not even worth it. I did not taste quality. The burgers were dry and tasteless and the«onion rings» were more like fried shavings(poorly advertised from what they were and how much they cost). The wings were soggy and luke warm. The celery sticks were obviously unwashed, they had bugs on them. I have had delivery from cheaper places that tasted 100% better and delivered on time. Maybe if you go in person and order in you are treated right.
