After a failed attempt to get into Kula due to a ridiculously long line and closed waiting list, my dinner party made our way here instead. Best decision of the night! Vons offers oven roasted chicken as well as fried chicken. My group ordered one of each, the boneless ssam chicken and the crispy fried chicken. If you’ve never eaten Korean style chicken before, it usually takes around 20ish minutes to prepare because they double fry to get that extra crispiness I love. The crispy fried chicken was mind-blowingly good. Once I bit into that crunchy goodness, waves of sweetness and spiciness overtook me and I became a Vons convert. The batter was so darn crispy and the meat itself was incredibly juicy. I was enlightened. Their fried chicken is the best Korean fried chicken I’ve had so far in the South Bay. On the other side of the table, the boneless ssam chicken provided a fun and refreshing way to eat what essentially tasted like teriyaki chicken that wasn’t drowning in teriyaki sauce. The colorful platter comes with an array of sliced vegetables, thinly sliced pickled daikon, and two sauces: one sweet and spicy chili sauce, the other a more sweet soy sauce with hints of wasabi. I particularly loved the wasabi sauce. Both the crispy fried chicken and the boneless ssam chicken were delicious, but the winner of the night by far was the crispy fried chicken. I’m definitely going to spread the word.

We just tried small order of crispy chicken with Kimchi rice. We are definitely going back to try the Sesame Chicken Platter.

It’s good chicken. Fairly nice interior. Higher end that 99 chicken but not better tasting. Go for nicer service and ambience. But if your primary focus is food. Go to 99

This place is just okay. Nothing special about their chicken. Bön chon and 99 chicken is way better than this place. We ordered the Von’s special chicken, crispy hot, and the boneless chicken. The crispy chicken was our favorite. The texture reminds me of Popeyes. The Von’s special wasn’t that special. Tasted like bbq chicken. The boneless was okay. Nothing amazing about it.

VON’S SERVESDEEEEEELICIOUSCHICKEN!!! I wanted something from a small place because I’ve noticed that some of the little«hole-in-the-wall» places are great for something new when you’re in the mood. Anyway, on the way to an Indian Thali place I like to go, I passed by Von’s and thought«why not?» Glad I did. At first you think this is a fast food place. The young lady behind the small counter who wanted to know if I was going to sit in or take away asked me to take a seat when I said I was going to eat in. I had never eaten there before so I had a couple of questions on the menu. I wasn’t in the mood for the same old same old so I asked about the Wine and Green Onion Chicken. She told me it had a kick, which made my ears perk up. What kind of kick you ask… wasabi. So I’m all in by now and I thought maybe I might need some fries to go with the meal. Saw on the back of the menu they served sweet potato fries! Okay, I thought, sounds good already. Only took about 5 minutes to bring the fries, which were served«truffle style» in a stand up basket. Well presented and the fries were just perfect. I knocked off every last one of them because they were really yummy. Ten minutes later my dish was served. WOW! I was blown away by the presentation and by how much chicken was on the plate! On the side was some cole slaw and I think rutabaga squares. Anyway, I tucked in and caught the familiar wasabi sting immediately. I wasn’t powerful but yeah… my sinuses felt it right away. I can see how some people can’t eat this because it is a little strong for a sweet chicken dish, but it was the perfect amount of kick for me.(I got Cajun in my blood so spicy dishes are what I look for.) For the average consumer, it might be a little too much wasabi, so if you order this and you can’t take the wasabi, better let them know to go easy or only put a tiny amount in. So I loosend my belt after about a half hour of goin at it. I was literally stuffed by the meal. Took a few minutes to let my stomach settle, and tore into the last two piece of chicken to finish off. All told, the bill came to a little over $ 26 with tip. I highly recommend this place. It’s a little hard to find off El Camino, you really gotta be looking for it, but man is it worth it! This was possibly one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten all over the world. Just so you know… I am not related to any of the owners or employees, I do not work there nor am I being compensated in any way for this glowing review. I truly appreciate this place and I’m happy to give an unsolicited opinion of great little places for my fellow travelers looking for something different.

Table got Crispy fried and Von’s special sauce oven. Crispy wins over the oven chicken, no doubt. I didn’t really care for how syrupy the special sauce was. Also the oven chicken came to the table luke-warm, which is probably a product of having to make the oven chicken in batches well before people order it. The fried chicken can get popped in the fryer as the orders come in, so it tastes hotter and fresher. The crispy fried chicken was amazing and hot and juicy and savory and om nom nom you should get it. If you order the fried chicken, you can also get some sauce on the side — just ask.

DAEEEEEEEEETOTHEBAKKKKKKKK!!! Okay, so I had a massive craving for some crispy fried chicken, and while Bön Chon and 99 was within split distance of my drive, some friendly coworker recommended this place. Hunger kicked into overdrive, and opted for the Large tub of some inhumane calorie count of chicken. The Crispy and crunchy chicken, goodness it was amazing! Their chicken had a hint of sweetness, which I enjoyed. The wings and thighs, OHDANG! What have I been eating back then? Perfectly crispy and very juicy inside, almost as if you couldn’t ask for a better bite! Sink your teeth into that perfect skin(my favorite part)! This is VERY close to the quality of chicken I had back in Sincheon and Myeongdong while abroad in Korea, and just had to Unilocal this amazing place to the community. TRUSTME. Crunchy or crispy chicken. Grab a six pack of beer, forget Netflix and Chill, just Chicken and Chill. It’s worth it.

My go-to for crispy chicken. Ssam chicken is great, too. Delicious and guilt-free. I like that they close later than most restaurants in the area for those late night cravings. Great staff and fast service.

Oh Von’s. It’s is good it makes me want to scream to all my kpop idol oppas! Aigooooo. #joking But no seriously, Von’s has become one of my go-to places to satiate my KFC cravings. Ever since my trip to South Korea last autumn I find myself craving quality Korean fried chicken on a weekly basis, and with their convenient hours and almost non-existent wait time, Von’s is definitely at the top of my KFC list for the South Bay. While they specialize in roasted chicken here, I am caaarraaaazyyyyy about their crispy fried chicken. Crisp skin, juicy chicken… takes me back to Hongdae. If you’re going to order the crispy fried chicken, get it hot! Even if you’re not too big on spicy, I find the hot to be waaaaaayyyyy more flavorful than their mild. Be sure to also ask for their side of dipping sauces for an extra kick of flavor. If you’re in the mood for something different, the ssam chicken is also really interesting. Roasted chicken cut up into little slices accompanied by sides of veggies! You wrap up the chicken and veggies in thin slices of radish before dipping them into a side sauce of your choice. An order of this easily feeds 2 – 4, so make sure you have the stomach space. As for their roasted chicken, I’ve tried the house special and the wine and onion flavors. They are a litttttleeeee too saucy for my liking(and I’m not too big on roasted chicken) but both savory flavors were on point. Service is okay; they usually only have one or two folks running around so it may take sometime to get your servers attention. The chicken makes every visit so worth it though! Kyle approved.

Von’s has been on my bucket list for 2 years now. It’s hard to convince your Bön Chon loving crew to venture to another Korean Fried Chicken spot… so, I took my favorite meal companion and hot tub buddy with me(she’s a Bön Chon Virgin). There were 3 of us. We ordered: *Ssam($ 23.99) *Crispy Original Fried Chicken Mild(Half $ 11.99) *Kim Chi Fried Rice *OB Beer Well, there was way too much food for the three of us! The leftovers made yummy fried rice, though. Hands down, Ssam took the gold. The pickled daikon wraps were delicious, and made the food refreshing rather than heavy. And the arrangement was beautiful… the rainbow of veggies tickled me. The KFC was satisfying, but not amazing. I’d eat it again, but opt for a specialty flavor, and maybe the oven baked chicken over the KFC. The interior was cute, and it helped that there was awesome customer service on a Sunday night. It was nice to hear Fetty Wap sprinkled in the background, while The Simpsons were playing on the 2 flatscreen tvs. The night we went, I was craving tea. There are no hot drinks here. However, some lemon in hot water was soothing enough. My Bön Chon virgin friend LOVED her introduction to Korean fried chicken… and overall, I was pleased, too! ***If I just gave a rating for the Ssam, it’d be 5 stars!***

Vons Chicken is a solid Korean fried chicken choice. My boyfriend and I shared a half order of mild crispy fried chicken. With a half order, you can choose between ten wings, five drumsticks or two drumsticks and six wings. We opted for ten wings, but we were pleasantly surprised when they generously served us nine drumsticks and one wing! I personally prefer drumsticks over wings so I was a happy camper. Their chicken had a hint of sweetness, which I enjoyed. The wings were perfectly crispy and very juicy inside. If you prefer more batter and extra crunch, their crunchy fried chicken is made with a flour batter. Their chicken comes with a side of daikon and cole slaw — pretty standard but a refreshing complement to the fried chicken. On the other hand, I wasn’t a fan of their kimchi fried rice. They use bell peppers, so it reminded me more of a Spanish rice. Service here is great. I believe our server’s name was Linda and she was incredibly sweet. I was clumsy and spilled my water — she graciously helped clean it up and brought me a new glass. I would love to come back to try their boneless ssam chicken. Based on the juiciness of their fried chicken, I’m sure their oven chicken options are just as good. On a side note, I loved their music(got me Shazaming every so often, can I get a link to that Soundcloud playlist? Lol.) Overall, Vons Chicken is on my KFC list and I’d definitely return.

Very addicting korean fried chicken Obviously over ordered Nomnomnom So good!!! Vons. No, I’m not talking about Safeway/Vons Grocery Store. This is some serious korean fried chicken! Unlike Bön Chon, they’re open EVERYDAY for your EVERYDAY cravings! :D Ordered: — ssam boneless chicken with veggies!!! — crispy fried chicken(full order) Yes, I was that hungry! haha I loved the ssam! It was fun making little tacos out of the thinly sliced daikons and filling them with boneless chicken and sliced carrots, bell peppers, cucumbers, cabbage, and some sauce. It was so refreshing to eat this! It can definitely feed more than 2 people! LOL! The crispy fried chicken was super crunchy and addicting as well and satisfied my fried chicken craving!!! I really LOVE it that they’re open everyday! We did takeout, so I’ll definitely be back for more fried chicken and dine at the actual restaurant next time!!! :D

Fried Chicken! I shiver at the people that don’t love it. Vons chicken was pretty tasty and competitive to Bön Chon and 99 Chicken. I ordered the half size crispy mild and it was yum. Very savory and crispy, just the way I like it. Their sides were just average though. The kimchi fried rice was bland compared to Daebak’s and Kami Korean Kitchen’s. The coleslaw has a great start taste but a strange after taste. The radish was average, nothing out of the ordinary. Of course, you should come here for the chicken and not for the sides. And if so I highly recommend!

I like their crispy sauce fried chicken. Its super crispy and flavorful. And the chicken are huge! We got the combo(2 drumsticks and 6 wings). I got the garlic and soy sauce and it’s not as good as I hoped for, I like the soy sauce from 99 chicken the best! But for crispiness this place hits the spot. I recommend getting the radish wrap and eat it with the chicken, so make sure to ask that on the side. The chicken plate with assorted veggies are also good but too bad you can’t order half, they only come in full size! They should def do half order of that so people can order another half of other chicken dish. The service was good, they explained to me the menu and was patient. I will be back :)

I recently went on a family vacation and stumbled upon this chicken heaven restaurant in Sunnyvale. This place is BEYOND amazing! Everything from the restaurant’s cleanliness, interior atmosphere/vibe, food quality, price point, and customer service is on-point. CLEANLINESS: Being that it’s a chicken restaurant I was already anticipating the greasy and oily smell and sensation on my skin but that was far from what I experienced. The restaurant is very clean and there is no hint of lingering oils or the smell of chicken in the air. INTERIOR: This place is so cute that I honestly couldn’t believe it was a chicken restaurant. Everything is white and well lit. The white concept gives the restaurant a very modern and chic feel that I love. I also love that it’s well lit, it’s quite refreshing and soothing. FOOD: THECHICKENISAMAZING! It’s so fresh, moist, crispy, flavorful, and not heavy on oil or grease! I mean is it even possible for chicken to be all those things?! I will never be able to eat at KFC or any other chicken restaurant again! I would love to know their secret because the chicken was prepared fresh after we placed our order, it was extremely juice and tender, cripsy on the outside, great flavor, and without all the grease chicken usually comes with. My absolute favorite dish was the Boneless Ssam Chicken. You won’t regret ordering this! You have to be crazy not to enjoy this dish. It comes with fresh cut and pickled veggies, oven-roasted lightly flavored boneless chicken, round radish to wrap it all up in, and two delicious dipping sauces. It’s honestly heaven in your mouth! It’s healthy, crisp, and great to share with a group of friends. CUSTOMERSERVICE: Great customer service. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, given helpful advice on what to order based on what our preferences were, and most importantly our water was always full. Needless to say, I will definitely be back the next time I find myself in Sunnyvale California. I mean even down to the plates the food was served on was so well thought out and added to the entire Vons Chicken experience. Nowadays, it’s not just about finding cheap eats and if the food tastes good. It’s the entire experience as a whole that takes a restaurant to the next level. This is that restaurant! You can thank me later! Go to Vons Chicken now!

The crispy fried chicken was ! And I’m not even a big fan of fried chicken, but I’d go back for that. Love that this place is in Sunnyvale. I wish more Korean spots would open further up north. Get a side of kimchi fried rice, too. Wish they would put an egg on top! Definitely coming back to try the other things on the menu!

Deliciously crunchy(oops, I meant crispy!) fried chicken. If you’re in search of great Korean fried chicken in the south bay, Von’s is a good spot that will satisfy your cravings. At least it did for me as I’m definitely going back in the near future! There are two choices for fried chicken: crunchy or crispy. Apparently crunchy has a thinner fried exterior and crispy is thicker hence more crunchy. The naming convention is a bit confusing as switching the adjectives makes better sense to me. Anyways… The one to order is «CRISPY». The chicken is very crunchy, moist, and has good seasoning with a hint of sweetness. We asked for ½ mild & ½ hot. Between the two I preferred hot yet it was a 6 on a scale of 10. They should just call their«current hot» medium and turn up the heat for the«new hot». Each order of fried chicken comes with coleslaw and radish. They’re very small containers not meant as a side but more so to breakup the heat if the fried chicken is too hot. Still, it was a bit surprising to see a small container each of coleslaw and radish when we asked for a full order of fried chicken. The kimchee fried rice was good! The restaurant is a bit difficult to spot signage-wise. Just look for the large«Chicken» sign. Parking was not an issue. A walk-in takeout order took 15min — just drop by the Korean grocery store in the next plaza and time will fly! The place was brightly-lit & packed with lots of families. Looking forward to trying their ssam chicken dish(chicken, vegetables, and daikon slices for wraps). If fried chicken is too unhealthy for you, there’s also«oven chicken» that comes in a variety of flavors. Lunch specials are $ 7.99 Tues-Fri.

There are only three things certain in life: death, taxes, and chicken. That is a flat-out lie. Death should not be in there. So I come to Vons all hungry and stuff after a long drive expecting to chow down. My group ordered the crispy chicken, the Vons special chicken(with the house sauce), and the Ssam. CRISPYCHICKEN: Wow, the breading was really light and yet, true to the name, crispy. I didn’t feel sort of that weird filling feeling when I eat KFC at all. It was cooked really well. Great stuff. VONSSPECIALCHICKEN: I… didn’t try this. Gotta be real. SSAM: Wow, first of all, this is pretty visually spectacular. The plating is very colorful, especially with the pink daikon wraps. In addition, the chicken with the skin is very very moist and tender; the assorted bell peppers, cucumbers, cucumbers, etc. really rounded out the dish nicely. With the nice cold daikon, every bite felt fresh. Definitely a really fun experience to wrap and eat. KIMCHIFRIEDRICE: Not the best I’ve ever had, but it was reasonably good. The service was also really nice; the guy serving us as well as the sweet girl were very accommodating. Overall, Vons is super clean for a Korean fried chicken place, and I would definitely recommend the crispy chicken and ssam. Because, after all, if you’re gonna have to pay taxes all your life, might as well throw some chicken in there.

Vons Chicken does a very traditional take on fried chicken. They are known for the ‘crispy’ chicken where the skin is fried to a golden crisp and the meat is tender and moist. It is done very well and very consistently between the different cuts of meat. I think they may use a pressure cooker to fry, since the juices are sealed incredibly well inside the crispy shell. You’d be hard pressed to find any dry meat here! The Good: — Incredibly well done fried chicken — Generous portions drive good value The Not So Good: — Sauce is a bit too sweet(even the spicy ones) — Ventilation is not really good, so the fry aroma permeates into all your clothing and hair — Side were decent but not memorable; slaw was soggy and too finely shredded Overall a welcome addition to the South Bay fried chicken scene. Not a good comparison to Bön Chon since they are quite different in terms of style.

I’m so loving this place that I”m giving it a 5 stars~!!! I was so excited to try this place and after dining here and afterwards, boy, I’m HOOKED!!! 4 of us shared the Ssam boneless chicken. $ 22 price tag was intimidating BUT the portion was quite large and certainly there were plenty to share! IT came with thinly sliced small taco shell size daikon/radish … you wrap your chicken piece with the veggies, put some sauce and eat it like tacos. so so so so good! The chicken was not greasy(over baked) and the skin was a tad crispy. The chicken meat had delicious yummy smokey flavor(tasted like the marinade the chicken), so good! We also ordered the half order of crispy fried chicken along with a glass of beer and sweet potato $ 19.99 …if you are to order a beer and sweet potato anyway. buying the combo pack saves you about $ 2– $ 3. The crispy fried chicken was crispy! and the chicken meat was juicy… the flavor was not only on the skin but also the meat of the chicken(they probably brine it). Again, not greasy and crunchy. love this chicken! We ordered another combo half order of Oven baked chicken in Von’s special sauce in HOT(you can order mild) along with a glass of beer and asked them to sub sweet potato fries with Onion rings. I was a bit reluctant as there are mixed reviews about the sauce. BUT I actually LOVEEEEEEE the sauce! Yes, the HOT maybe too hot for the non-spicy eaters(so go with mild yo!) but I love spicy and this was just right! not crazy hot that burns the tongue(well, if you’re weak in eating spicy. then perhaps it does burn your tongue!) and it has just the right amount of sweetness, not overly sweet, not overly smokey… just delicious!!! By the end of the meal we were all STUFFED! We were all big eaters… and the amount of food was just right… smaller stomach, well, perhaps need 6 – 8 of your to finish what we ordered hahaha! Service was friendly(they allowed us to sit even though not all our party was already there. and we waited for them to place order)…the place got more packed around 7:30 on a Wednesday evening. I’ll come back. often!
