Was looking for a place to grab a quick bite before work and Unilocal brought me here. Place looks very clean and well decorated, with a laid back kind of atmosphere. My wife had«Mums Curry chicken» and I had the pulled pork sandwich. Both were under $ 10 each. The curry was amazing. Chicken was nice and tender, curry was well seasoned and not too spicy. Curry comes with roti on the side. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good too, well seasoned juicy chicken and not smothered in bbq sauce.(Wish the sandwich came with fries) Place also has great coffee/latte and pastries. Will definitely come back again when I’m in the area.

I called in an order, and picked it up. Simply said the Bacon Egg N Cheese with Arugula was AbFab. So Delicious. If such an important staple as a Brekfix sandwich is done this well, it has to be indicative of the quality of the rest of their dishes. The Café/Restaurant was very welcoming & clean inside. It was not packed at 10:45am on a Sunday, so it could be a down-low brunch spot for people like me that are up early on the weekends. The service was friendly with a smile. I will definitely be back to eat-in at Breakfast and/or Lunch, maybe even with laptop to get some work done. It’s on the quiet beginning of 8th ave after the south end of Greenwood Cemetary, but it’s breakfast sandwich was well worth the journey north of 65th st.

Approve of this place: came here to just get some work down and drink some coffee and it was a pretty cool space. The coffee was reasonably priced and really good– a bit weak and mellow but in a good way. I also liked how there were people from the hood: construction workers, young immigrants as well as your more hip crowd. Seems like a good spot for the community.

Decent food. I enjoyed my curry chicken a lot. My mom and grandmother really liked the pancakes they have. The pulled pork was a bit on the sweet side. I would have preferred if they balanced put the sweetness in the pork with a fancier slaw. The red cabbage slaw was sweet too making it seem almost like a meaty dessert. I suppose go for it if that’s your thing. But I usually like meat thay tastes a bit more like meat. Atmosphere is nice. I really like the dark wood they use and a place like this is hard to find in the sunset park area where my parents always go to get there viet coffee. I see an outdoor patio but haven’t sat outside yet maybe in the summer. I will come again and try rhe other dishes.

Breakfast is decently priced. Try their Eggs Benedict with a cup of cappuccino. Their breakfast sandwiches are great as well. Lunch/dinner: they had spicy wings that were really good. Too bad that’s off the menu now. Their Mama’s curry is delicious but if you like spicy, you would need to ask for some Siracha or chili since it only has a kick. Their pulled pork and beef brisket is good too; A little messy to eat and yummy. Try everything. Their menu is small compared to other places, but good to start. I would like to see a special menu every month to see or try something different.

Parlay is a great addition to the neighborhood. Previously, if you wanted to get coffee in Sunset other than at a chinese bakery, you would probably have to travel to another hood. Parlay was greatly embraced by the people in Sunset for being the first of its kind. However, I feel that it’s high reviews partially comes from the lack of cafes of its kind in Sunset. I’ve been here 2 times and each time was just a-ok. The first time I came in, I ordered an americano. The americano was weak and tasted incredibly diluted(I know americano is just espresso + water but it tasted just like water). On my second visit, I asked for a soy latte since my partner cannot have milk. I’m not sure if the barista actually gave us soy since my partner had some problems after drinking the latte. However, I can attest that their food does taste pretty good and it’s a great place to get brunch in Sunset. While I don’t not like this café, I don’t love it. Parlay has such great potential but I fear if another café of its kind open in the neighborhood, the patrons of Parlay might move over.

Parlay is that coffee shop that deserves the support of both the Borough Park & Sunset Park community. Not only are their workers very pleasant, ex. Michelle. But the coffee and food is also affordable and taste great– a little strong(just the way I like it, plus I get to pour exactly how much milk I want in my coffee every time); I stop by Parlay often at different times of the day/week, I’ve witness families enjoy a comfortable brunch together and a student study with his/her MacBook along with their ‘to stay’ Lattes or tea. The location is most convenient when rushing to work, the bus is right across the street and D train is 2 blocks away.

Thanks to Unilocal,I finally found my new favorite coffee shop hidden in Brooklyn’s Chinatown! I love the vibe. It’s totally hipster and they serve all day brunch, which is AH-MAZING because I’m one of those people who loves brunch but can never wake up early for it(guilty). My bf and I arrived early afternoon and surprisingly, it wasn’t packed at all. We were seated immediately. I noticed the matcha latte from a nearby table and it looked pretty good so I decided to order a latte too, but a caramel latte instead. I also ordered Eggs Benedict which came with homefries while my bf ordered scrambled eggs and french toast. Both were incredibly appetizing but it was definitely the latte that added the magic touch. It was so yummy that I would probably come here all the time just to get it. If it’s not obvious enough, my experience here was beyond great. The last thing I want to add that another Unilocaler has previously mentioned, is that the ladies at the counter double as the waitress. When it started getting more packed, it was difficult to get their attention for service. It would probably be a good idea if there was a waitress on the floor. Regardless, I’m still in love with this place and it’s no doubt I’ll be coming back soon!

This is for sure the best coffee shop in Brooklyn Chinatown area. I always have good experience there. They are packed during rush hours, however u can always grab a take out drink if you ever pass by. I’m addicted to their mocha, I will say it’s definitely better than Starbucks and dunkin donuts. I hope they survive in this neighborhood forever.

After coming by here a couple of times, I finally got to try this place on a weekday morning. I never thought a spot like this would open up in this part of the neighborhood, but it’s certainly a nice addition! It’s a small place so I don’t recommend coming here with a large group. My friend and I walked in and grabbed a seat. We were a little confused as to if we wait for them to take our order or if we order at the counter, it’s the latter. We ordered the sweet potato fries, blueberry pancakes, Sriracha jam grilled cheese, latte and coffee. The sweet potato fries were served with Sriracha mayo, I’d recommend them. The pancakes were good, pretty fluffy and not too heavy and went well with the fresh fruits. My friend liked his Sriracha jam grilled cheese too, but the jam was more sweet than spicy, still a good grilled cheese sandwich. The coffee here is good and the latte was made perfectly, go for their coffee! I like that the customers here are diverse and it’s not like they cater to any particular niche. It also seems to be a popular place for parents to bring their kids and have a nice breakfast beyond the bakery options in the area. Overall, a good option for a quiet, simple and hearty meal. I would love to come back and try their other menu items; so, how about that curry?

I loved this new, cozy addition to the neighborhood. Came across this spot on Unilocal and I thought why not give it try! The place is really small, but very open space so you don’t feel stuffed. It’s has about 6 tables and a bar like counter with maybe 3 seats. The place was packed so we sat and ordered at the bar until a table cleared. We ordered the pulled pork, which was good but would have loved if the pork was a bit crunchier(Spanish thing), w/French fries, eggs benedict(nothing major but I enjoyed it), and banana pancakes. The banana pancakes were great. Overall, the service was ok. they could definitely use a waitress on the floor, the young lady at the counter doubled as the waitress. Because of that you might feel neglected at times lol. Still, I would go back I love supporting neighborhood joints.

Had a house burgers and it was delicious, so juicy and with caramelized onions, ohh! Cash only. The place feels new, renovated environment, amazing music, decorated with vinyl records and antlers from a local artist. Very hip. So happy to find this place in Sunset Park. Full coffee menu, sooo good!

Cool coffee place in Sunset Park that sprouted out of nowhere. If you’d have told me five years ago that there’d be a gourmet coffee shop in Sunset, I’d thought you’d be crazy as would countless other residents. The sprawl of Asian stretches from 65th all the way to the very end of 8th Ave. and it would have been inconceivable then. Fast-forward to 2015, and Parlay opens, a welcome addition to an area sorely lacking in diverse businesses. After checking the menu, noticeably, there’s an ample amount of choices for brunch, light snacks, or simply coffee. As I had stopped in one early Friday evening with friends, we decided to meet up for some pre-dinner coffee/snacking. Fries with sriracha mayo hit the spot as did my cortado, which was done correctly. Added bonus for latte art. In the evenings, it’s dimly lit for ambiance, and other tables were occupied by laptop hoarders.(This is to be expected) A lot of good promising things to give me a reason to return to try the food(entrees).

I was surprised to find a brunch place around my area but was excited to try this place out. Parlay is small and only has six tables but people can sit on the stools as well. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We ordered the grilled cheese with bacon & avocado, fish sauce wings, and the cheese burger. Everything was delicious, especially the wings. It was a bit salty but I still finished it! Definitely coming back again to try out the rest of the menu. :)

The food was amazing. The fries are very flavorful. My favorite was the garlic fish sauce chicken wings because they were solo delightful. You can get it with or without spice; I got it without. It was sweet and savory which is my fave. The egg benedict were very filling and the potatoes on the side were great. I must come back to try out more stuff! The store is also super cute. Has a nice modern/hippyish vibe to it. The service is also on point. Love this place so much!

First review! Parlay is located far away from the busy 8th avenue of sunset Brooklyn.(Corner of 41st st and 8th ave) Sweet potato fries $ 5.25 — We started with the sweet potato fries w/Sriracha mayo. Yummmm. Hot and fresh out the kitchen. Crispy and perfect for sharing. Brisket sandwich $ 8.75 — was super moist and packed with flavor, slow cooked with onions(I opted out for mushrooms). Pulled pork on brioche bun $ 8.25 — finger licking good. Be prepared to scoop up all of the pulled pork that falls off with every bite! Good balance of pork and coleslaw. Lovely little spot with 5 tables and a couple of seats by the bar. Great customer service and will come back. Till next time!

— - — - — - — - — - — - — - — — - — - — - — - — - — - — — — - — - — - — - — - — - — — — - — - — - — - — - — - — — — - — - — - - They had no turkey bacon or sausage to go along with my eggs as a non pork eater. They had no shade for the sun beating down on me inside the restaurant which made sitting there for too long become uncomfortable. They DON’T accept cards which forced to me to go across the street to the nearest atm to get cash. There is somewhat of a disconnect with the fruit salad that accompanies the pancakes and I had to eat each separately. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The pancakes though are very very good made with real fruit and are light and fluffy(favorite is the banana) They gave me a huge glass of orange juice(half of that glass would have been more suitable) The mexican omelet and home fries were very good. Excellent service. I look forward to trying their wings and a couple sandwiches they offer but for now I think a 3.5 star rating is suitable but I rounded to 4.

I was taking a casual walk through the neighborhood at 6:30am looking for coffee, only to run into this spot. As I stood outside looking at the menu, a nice gentleman by the name of Eddie started to chat with me. Turns out he’s the owner’s dad. He told me to go inside to get coffee even though they weren’t technically open yet(they open at 7am) and that I would have to wait just a few minutes. To make a long story short, the coffee and muffins were great and so was the service by Michelle. The inside is simple and welcoming. I really like how they have an old school turntable playing oldies and classics from different genres. I have yet to try out the food but the menu and reviews seem good. Very much looking forward to it. This could very well become my next favorite spot. Great addition the neighborhood.

Came here with my friend for brunch because she loves this place and wouldn’t stop talking about it, so obviously she picked this place. I got their banana pancakes($ 6.75) and it comes with a fruit salad. The presentation was on point. The fruits are fresh and sweet. The pancakes were really good, when I cut into it I could smell the bananas. It was full of banana flavor and it came with actual pieces of bananas. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, easy to cut. We also got a order of home fries for $ 2.75 and its a pretty big portion, definitely add pepper and salt to it! Customer service was excellent, the girl who served us was really sweet and nice. The food came really fast too. Definitely plan on coming back to try more stuff from their menu!

So surprised to see this hipster café when I was in the neighborhood for work today! Opened for just under a month, Parlay seems almost out of place in this part of town. Friendly staff and great coffee. If I had parking, I would’ve definitely stayed for lunch(they have an assortment so sandwiches and hot foods) and get some work done. Lots of tables and I think they have outlets(but don’t quote me on that!). Really love the décor and the display of vintage vinyls. They have an actual turntable too! I will definitely be back!
