We had a great time here, and left with MANY wines. I also got a Basil infused olive oil, and some amazing preserves. All three of the staff there Sunday were very friendly and helpful. The Old Vine Zin is just outstanding. I was amazed by the Dry Reisling. Both dessert wines we tasted were delicious. We went on the advice of one of their employees, Marissa, who we had met in Volcano. I will definitely be back, possibly even for the Grape Stomp in September!

There is a Unilocal check in freebie! What made our experience great was our server, Kelsey. She was very happy, with and bubbly personality and very knowledgable. She was very patient and had a great attitude because we had 3 very young children with us.

Perhaps our expectations were too high. We saw mostly five-star reviews on Unilocal and had seen other high ratings for Scott Harvey wines. But honestly neither DH or I found our experience to be more than A-OK. It was convenient to taste on main street in Sutter Creek. Kelsey was friendly and informative. I had the standard tasting($ 5) while DH had the reserve($ 10). Between us we sampled at least a dozen wines. We prefer reds so only had a couple of the whites. Our impression of the reds was that they were too young. Kelsey kept assuring us that they were different that what we usually taste(Napa, Sonoma, Carmel Valley) because they were made in the German style. Still not clear what that means … only that it is not our taste preference. What we did like was the Forte. Not only was it in an unusual bottle, but it was delicious. Looking forward to enjoying it on chilly winter nights.

We purchased WAY more wine than originally planned, because EVERYTHING we tasted was absolutely amazing :) The four of us entered and were greeted with really nice service. We were offered the two wine tasting menus– including the reserve menu. Since my husband and I are wine club members, it was free, including our parents. At the end of our experience, our parents also joined the wine club and after trying the ice wines, they added the dessert wines as well! We actually went home after that since we loved the wine and purchased enough to make us more than happy. Highly recommend visiting this tasting room. Thank you Muffin for your great service, you made our visit so much fun!

Our first time here definitely deserves five stars. The knowledge that Kelsey had was almost overwhelming but its wasn’t because it was well prepared. She was very very humorous and friendly and not to mention their wine is quite tasty. What a wonderful Monday afternoon for my boyfriend and I. We cannot stop talking about how fun and cool and informing Kelsey was. That is my mian point for this review. She was amazing !!! She and everyone else needs to know that. Their wine is delicious. Very good barbara, syrah and the one last kiss are amazingggggg. Thank you. Alicia and Dustin.

Awesome tasting of professionally prepared wines. Our guide was expertly prepared to take us through the list. Mary is a real professional! Whites and reds are wonderfully done. This is a spot to visit.

Great wine tasting bar. Enjoyed the varietals they poured. People are super friendly. Good conversations. They offer wine club membership. One perk is free wine tastings. They have fun events monthly to go enjoy with other locals and members. Grapes stomp in September sounds really fun ! Hmmmm… may haves to go back.

My in laws live in Volcano so we have explored Amador wine region at length. After many years of going to the wineries we ventured in here during an afternoon in Sutter Creek. My mother in law promptly joined the wine club and she has become their number one fan. When she goes in to get her shipments everyone knows her and they are all so friendly. The last kiss wines have become our staples but we have honestly loved almost all of the wines we have had from here.

Friendly and knowledgeable. You can either do the complementary tasting or the Reserve tasting for $ 10. We did the Reserve tasting. We ended up buying 3 bottles of wine so they didn’t charge us for the wine tasting. Not once did they try to pressure us into buying any of their wine. They just poured and explained what each one was. Very cute little tasting room.

Walked in and got a whiff of something woodsy. Saw bags of some round balls of wood called«Scott’s Balls» and thought. ‘ahh. Scott has fragrant balls’. But, at closer whiff of those balls, it wasn’t them smelling up the joint. it was something else. but I never figured out what it was. We got Kelsey as our taster of the day and boy was she detailed and meticulous in describing the wines and honing in on our preferences. I know we grabbed 3 bottles. one was a varietal called One Last Kiss, which was a California White blend that tasted like apricots. good stuff. I cannot for the life of me recall the 3rd bottle. Sad. I know we liked a lot of what we tried, but after 3 wineries at this point, things were a bit hazy. They also had a jar of something called Frog Balls, which were basically pickled brussell sprouts. One thing we can say for sure, Scott’s tasting room has a lot of balls!

Best wines in the area! And very fun and knowledgeable staff! I went to this winery last year for their Black Friday specials. Ended up buying several cases of their wine. This year I showed some restraint and only left with 3 cases! Visiting this winery is reason enough to make a trip to historical Sutter Creek.

What exactly are you looking for in a winery? You need to know this before you go here, as expectations are important to manage. My group of five really enjoyed the wine and the young lady pouring the wine, and so for us, it was a great visit. You also need to consider when you go. We were here on a Thursday at noon, not a high demand time and so we were able to be the only people in the room. The most important thing in a tasting room is the taste of the wine, and we really liked the wine. An example of this was noted when we were able to taste the Amador Zinfandel next to the Zinfandel from Napa. They were both very good, but both very different. I’m no expert on wine for sure, but these bottles clearly demonstrated, for me, the differences the regions make in the wine. The second most important thing in a tasting room is the staff, and the young lady working yesterday was great. Again, we were the only people in the room, and so we got her undivided attention. She was knowledgeable, patient, forgiving, welcoming, and gracious. She made some local suggestions for lunch, which we didn’t use, but appreciated. She confirmed our already existing plan as a good one, and on we went. Quite simply, the staff at the room can make or break the tasting experience and she truly enhanced our time there. This is a tasting room, it is not a winery, and there is a big difference. You are in the middle of a very quaint town, and it invites a longer visit to see the shops nearby, but you won’t see barrels, a bottling line, or any of the other physical items you’d associate with a winery. To summarize: 1) Good Wine 2) Good Help 3) Great experience and worth the stop

We’ve been going to the Sutter Creek Scott Harvey since 2007. Back then it was a short distance away from it’s current location, in a charming old 2-story house. Admittedly, for us, since it moved to Main Street it’s lost a *bit* of it’s cozy charm, but the new location is beautiful in it’s own right. We weren’t much into wine before Scott Harvey… but the friendly shop girl(the niece of Scott) poured us everything they had and we loved it all! A wine membership and years later, we are regular wine drinkers. I love their Moutain Selection Barbera, the Jana Riesling, the Angel ice wine, all the Old Vine wines, and *OMG* the Forte Port! Super nice shop staff, super delicious wine and the super sweet shop-dog Chloe!(We haven’t been there in a while so I don’t know if Chloe still makes appearances… I sure hope so! :3)

Geology has been kind to Amador County. Over aeons there has been a tumultuous subterranean struggle taking place — like a slow-motion wrestling match between behemoth chthonic creatures — that has produced a thrusting and grinding of plate and rock, the result of which has bestowed upon Amador County’s hills gold, diamonds, and the perfect climate and soil conditions for growing world-class Barbera. Veteran winemaker and Sierra Foothill native Scott Harvey has realized the potential of this unique Amador County terroir with his remarkable 2008 Reserve Barbera. Also outstanding are his 2007 Old Vine Zinfandel(1869 Vineyard) and 2006 Reserve Syrah. Visit the Scott Harvey Tasting Room in Sutter Creek. Find Scott Harvey Wines online at .

At first we were a little disappointed wandering through Sutter Creek. Aside from antique shops, there wasn’t much there. Hardly even anywhere to eat! But then we came to the end of the street and discovered Scott Harvey Wines, and the trip suddenly seemed worth it. The tasting room was small but lovely, and they had an excellent menu of free tastings. There was also a $ 5 menu to choose from if you were looking to go a little fancier. But the free wines were all delicious and we ended up purchasing a pile of bottles. The server was also a lot of fun to chat with. It’s a cute little place, and I’m glad we stumbled upon it!
