Not knowing anything about this winery other than it was recommended by an acquaintance, I was surprised to find out they only do sparkling wines(which is awesome). This place was a little different from other wineries, as everyone gets 2 complimentary tastings, and then you choose to purchase flights on glasses. After tasting 2 delicious wines, my husband and I took a chance and ordered a flight of 2 different, untasted wines. Each flight comes with crackers and your choice of spread. Being there at 3 pm, we were the only guests and it was lovely to sit outside in a secluded vineyard. Although there is no view of the water, this winery is a beautiful place nonetheless, overlooking rolling hills and the vineyards. The staff so was nice and helpful. Definitely at the top of my list!

I love sparkling, and L Mawby rocks it. Plenty of nice, dry offerings so you don’t get stuck in the rut of sweet wine that seems to be easy to come by around here.

The greatest experience I had on my mini vacation in Traverse City, Michigan was at the L. Mawby Vineyards. I love my bubbles and to be surrounded by other bubble-heads in a beautiful location… it was great! I loved all of the samples I tried! My absolute favorite was the Talismon. I recommend checking out this beautiful vineyard and sampling their bubbles!

View was beautiful. The sparkling wine was good but that’s all they had. Nice place to be at peace and have a good snack

Well a visit where you meet the owner is probably never bad! Delicious bubbly and love that you are greeted with a free pour. We started with Sandpiper which is effervescent and a bargain at $ 11/bottle. Grace was new and I loved the pretty pink color and the mild and tart taste. Oldies but goodies Sex, Detroit and Fizz are hard to beat though.

Decent location but not much of a view. I also didn’t know it was all sparkling wine only. Beware of this if you do not want to drink a carbonated beverage. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. We held small talk at a private tasting we also paid for a tour of wine with some goat cheese and crackers. The pairings were really well put together. I would take some credit but the staff also assisted me in some of my options. Not sure I would go back because of the carbonation in the wine but it was a pleasant time.

This place was open on the 4th of July! Can’t beat that. It was a beautiful day to visit L. Mawby Vineyards and sit out on the patio. The man that did our complimentary pours was so friendly and informative! He knew exactly what I’d like which is sweet, sweet, sweet white wine. Their«Detroit» wine is definitely a favorite! We couldn’t get enough of their goat cheese. If you like wine and have good company to join you, go! Needless to say, I’ll definitely be coming back!

If you’re considering going to Traverse City area, know that L. Mawby Vineyards is good enough to justify a trip, all by itself. Really — I’ve stayed twice in the area, right on the beach, and both times our visit to this place was the highlight. You can purchase flights to try a few before you buy a bottle, and they’ll come with some delicious spreads — herbed goat cheese, smoked whitefish, or cherry jalapeño. Personally, my favorite is their basic sparkling wine, Sandpiper. I’m no wine connoisseur, but it’s just a fun sparkling wine, one that makes everything feel like a special occasion without killing your wallet. So, take a trip from wherever you are, and stop on by. Load up your car with a few cases(Sandpiper will run you a whopping $ 8.25 a bottle if you buy three cases), and enjoy some fun wines until your next summer vacation!

L. Mawby sparking wines do not disappoint! I first had this wine at a restaurant in Chicago, and made a point to stop in my next visit to Traverse. What a treat! Loved the surprising, Redd, what an interesting switch on sparkling wine! This will be a must stop on future vacations!

This is a Traverse City area favorite! It was such a great experience the first time there, and I will be heading back very soon. When we came in we did the free tasting and then paid for the full pours which included a small appetizer of crackers and spread. Sitting out on the patio overlooking the vineyards was fabulous, especially on a sunny day. I am a huge fan of «Sandpiper» as well as «Green.» Since we are a good drive away from the winery(Ohio), we resort to stocking up on Sandpiper by the case. Buying 3 cases(to split with friends and family) saves around 25%…so that makes it okay… right? ha! I can’t wait to go back this month!

I absolutely loved the wines and the vibe at L Mawby, it is at the top of my list of wineries to return to. All of the staff here were friendly and informative, and they had a food truck posted up outside. On the day we came we got two complimentary pours and I purchased another two glasses with cheese and crackers for an additional 5 bucks. It was cold and wet the day we came, but I am fantasizing about enjoying a glass on their porch on a nicer day, cannot wait to come back.

They have my absolute favorite wines in Michigan. I wish they had a little different set up for tastings, but overall its very fun place to go and has amazing wines. For $ 10(more I believe if you do the other line) you get two classes and spread. The spreads change — we had a goat cheese and a pepper jelly — they are always really good and make for a great little snack that compliments the bubbly. I love the way they take about the different processes of making the champagne. We normally get at least a case of the Sandpiper– which is their basic everyday drinking bubbly because its so cheap and way better than any standard prosecco or chamagne you can get out there! There best wine is by far the 2005 Miele — the flavors are well pronounced, complex and beautifully done. We also picked up bottles of the Leeland — which was a charity wine not normally sold, Jadore(amazing) and a few of their awesome rose/red blends — Sex & Redd — they are both amazing, but Sex by far is better!

My favorite sparkling wine. This winery is getting a reputation, which I hope doesn’t mean that it will become inaccessible because I do love popping over for a glass or stocking up. The service can be inconsistent as they haven’t quite figured out how to take care of more than a couple people at a time, so patience is necessary here. The views are lovely, and there is plenty of parking.

I am not a great fan of sparkling wines… but the wine here is great! They have a well-planned and executed operation. Too bad the tastings were not free like most place on the peninsula, but the wine was fabulous. I definitely would be proud to have a bottle of any of their wine to drink on a variety of special occasions!

Wait a minute… a Sparkling Wine tasting room with a food sample included with the tasting fee?! Have I died and gone to heaven?! L. Mawby was a fantastic experience. I went for the two free tastings and then picked another two with the included snack. My two additional tastings were«Red» and«Sex» and I enjoyed them with the Goat Cheese and Crackers. I loved«Sex»(ha). The«Red» was a bit sweet for me, but I still enjoyed it. The Goat Cheese was a great snack. My fiancé’ went for the Whitefish Spread and that was SO yummy too. The views were great and we enjoyed sitting outside and soaking up the beautiful summer day on the picnic tables. I ended up purchasing a bottle of «Sex» and I can’t wait to pop that baby open!

This winery focuses on sparkling wine. The free tasting includes two tastings. They have a paid option for full pours with an appetizer. We did the two pours with the goat cheese(which was awesome). The wines had fun names, though they did not tell you much about the wine. Our group liked the Jazz and the Detroit. This was a very fun, laid back stop. I did not learn much about the wine or the process, but all of the employees were friendly and excited. There was also an area to sit down and relax with you wine. A definite stop for a wine tour if you are in the area.

Yum! Sparkling wines! I thought it was great that your first two tastings are free. After that, you get 2 glasses and a snack for $ 5. The ladies working were really nice too. A must try! HOURS: May-Oct: Mon-Sat 12 – 6, Sun 12 – 5 Nov-Apr: Thu-Sat 12 – 5
