I am a sucker for small-town experiences, and Swarthmore community center is no exception. This houses the Swarthmore Public Library (I have a separate review for that), the town administration (I think, not sure), and the fire department. There are also meeting rooms that can be reserved. My favorite thing about this place is that there is, every 6 months, a large book sale. The amazing $ 5-a-bag sale. Oh many of my friends swarmed this place and got themselves some good picks. Always a lovely place when something is happening here. Everybody is quite nice. The hall to the bathroom also has artwork or drawings by local artists? that are a good touch to the building.

For my second Pennsylvania wedding this year, the rehearsal dinner was inside at the Swarthmore Community Center since it was a chilly October night. There was a large open space with ample room for long tables and chairs, a small kitchen for the caterers, a raised stage with a free jukebox for entertainment, a little patio out the back, and the game room upstairs complete with foosball, pool, ping pong, and air hockey. It had so much to offer for family gatherings. Also, having the parking lot shared with the church made it readily accessible (not that there’s a parking issue in Swarthmore, but it’s still nice not to have to walk a few blocks).
