A lovely place! The food was absolutely delicious – the truffle oil to die for! Gracious service, fast, courteous, and very accommodating service. Liked the atmosphere – once inside it almost had the feel of a lodge with a large cozy bar(the bar was large, not much room around it) and cozy seating«areas». Loved it – the staff, the atmosphere, the prices and, most definitely the food! The only real drawback I found was that the parking situation was a bit confusing, other than that – GREAT! Will definitely be back!

Find a new bartender!!! The one for lunch is more concerned about her gossip then her job!!!

I joined a girlfriend for an early dinner so we had the place almost to ourselves! It is located in an unexpected area for me– looked to be connected to an apartment building, so it was a tad hard to find. We were greeted with wonderful, friendly staff and our food arrived very quick. When it came, it was fresh and delicious. A little on the pricey side but I would recommend for a nice dinner out. The Bar area looked fun also, just wished more people were there to enjoy a lively atmosphere.

Perfect for lunch. Perfect for dinner. No mall food here. Menu items and daily specials prepared from scratch. Cocktails expertly prepared, nice wine list. Seasoned staff who are happy to customize the menus to meet your desires which makes Julies one of my favorite places.

This place reminds me of being a kid. So it’s weird that I can go in there now and have wine with my family. The owners think it’s weird too– they knew me since I was little! Anyway, we came for lunch and they sat 7 of us in a big booth in the back. We got some dishes to pass, my favorite of which were the greens! So good, garlicy and peppery and fresh. I think a pizza dish was passed around, too. But between greens and bread, I was saving room for my burger. It ended up being a little rare for my taste but no big deal, the leftovers would be good! The service is always fantastic, maybe because they’ve known us for 25 years or maybe because they’re just awesome. I remember clearly having dinners here years ago which I think is where their menu really shines, especially when they cook some entrees and desserts out on the cart by your table which is always fun. There’s also a picture of my dad’s face on the wall so brownie points there.

I was at an event last night where Karen’s Catering provided the food. It was fantastic! They served up Cranberry-Orange chicken with rice, some very fresh bread(which I’m told came from Pastabilities) and an absolutely awesome salad with field greens, blueberries, cranberries, sugared pecans and a raspberry vinaigrette. I loved every bite of the food, and look forward to going to the restaurant to try their other dishes.

What is this thing called that people in Syracuse love… greens? You know. That dish? Holy moly, I’m a fan of that. I’m also a fan of the veal. I’m also a fan of some sort of pasta pie. Also, the bartender is pretty awesome. I don’t know much about Syracuse(apart from that I was cold a lot of the time) but I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Julie’s. Oh, and dessert! Get dessert. The bomb.

Just had dinner there with my wife. The waitress was buried, but was still friendly and everything came out hot or cold as appropriate and service was just about the right speed. The food was awesome, which is really astonishing, given how few places manage to pull it off. Had great, fresh hot bread & butter, a nice chilled salad with crumbly blue cheese, veal with lobster and pasta with broccoli, sausage, pamesean and red peppers. Both the veal and the pasta were really yummy! The pasta was beautifully balanced with just the right amount of everything. I’d have no hesitation going back anytime.

Julie’s is a solid Italian restaurant offering good, traditional dishes without being distracted by the waves of fusion cuisines. We started with the Caesar salad — it was nicely chilled and dressed with anchovy on top — definitely one of the best around. I had the Grouper special Friday night: the fish was cooked perfectly; the sauce was good and spiced properly; the seasonal vegetables were delicious. It was just a classic, hearty, and well-composed dish and all of its components worked beautifully together. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his entrée(sirloin and scallops) and the banana frosters cooked in front of us. Julie’s place has been around for a long time and there are good reasons why it is still going strong and will be around for a long time to come. After all, there is always a place for solid, serious traditional Italian cuisine with no confusing/confused identity in Syracuse.

Just had yet another fantastic Thanksgiving dinner at Julie’s Place! We have been celebrating here all but a couple Thanksgivings for the last 13 years, and every year it is fantastic. They roast a turkey for your party, carve it at your table, and serve all the delicious sides family style. It feels like you are eating around your own table, but without the cooking and cleanup. And best of all, you take your leftovers home! I can’t speak to other menu items, but I wouldn’t go anywhere else for Thanksgiving. We travel a few hours to spend the holiday with family and we look forward to our dinner at Julie’s place every year.

If you are looking for a place that offers a decent glass of water and fun service-this is it! I had broiled scallops and fries and it was terrible. My scallops tasted as though they were boiled in water laced with some sort of mildew and smelled like musty socks. My fries tasted like they had been over cooked –twice! On the upside, the service was entertaining and the décor was surprising given the quality of the cuisine. Sadly, the single star is only for the feisty fun service we received.

Julie’s Place has been around for a while but is definitely past its prime. The restaurant is located on the first floor(ground floor to people outside the US) of an apartment tower. There are no windows in the actual restaurant and the décor is dark, with some corner tables surrounded by mirrors. I’m not a big fan looking at myself from all angles while eating. We went there for a friend’s 90th birthday. Although we mentioned the occasion well within earshot of the waitstaff several times, there was no acknowledgment at all from them. You’d think that businesses these days would want to go out of their way a bit to build a relationship with their customers, but she didn’t even get a «happy birthday». I haven’t seen a Steak Diane on a menu for a long time and they promised table side preparation so I went for it. The first sign of trouble emerged when the Maitre D’ put the shallots and garlic into the pan with the butter, before putting in the filet mignon. Then he added the filets. In other words, he was either going to burn the shallots/garlic if he was going to turn up the heat to sear the steaks; or he was going to slow-cook the steak. Then he added a pre-made sauce the color and texture of thick turkey gravy. Lastly he briefly flamed the food by adding alcohol and setting it on fire. By the time we got the steaks they were cold and completely rare inside and an unattractive grey on the outside. The sauce was a thick light brown gloppy mess with half-raw garlic and shallot bits, no flavor from the meat caramelization at all. What a way to murder a filet mignon. Also, I seem to recall Steak Diane has mushrooms in it — but this version didn’t. When I ordered the price for this dish seemed eminently reasonable but by the time I tasted it I felt overcharged and very dissatisfied. Thoughts of sending Gordon Ramsey here to fix this kitchen nightmare crossed my mind. Add to that the clumsy service of a waiter who kept reaching in front of me to get to my companion across the table, when there was enough room to move behind me and not have to do that, and the fact that he dropped a large tray of half-empty plates when clearing the table. Save your money and find another place that is not such a has-been.
