I always love to give my favorite corner store in the neighborhood some love. Way nicer than the 711, as far as beverage choices go alcoholic or non. I went here for years, moved out of town for a couple years, moved back and they still remembered me. Always friendly and fast as far as a corner store goes.

I only go to the Big Value store for beer runs. However, if you are going to make a beer run than what better place to go than a cheap corner store with a large selection. The shelves are often bare or limited if looking for substantial food, but I don’t know anyone who would grocery shop here. What makes this place the ultimate is when Bridgette is working. She is a north end icon who is a friendly face to see on any night you need beer. She is always there to offer a tidbit about the weather or a whimsical story about what the UPS kids are coming in to buy.

A locally owned convenience store with the usual assortment of snacks, drinks and beers. Interestingly, they also carry some more exotic smokes here — like Nat Sherman and djarums. This is an old corner grocery… bestill my little vintage heart, just that alone makes me wanna walk around in here. OK — they don’t have anything going on beyond the aforementioned and some cup o’ noodles, but still… wanna see what a store looked like before Walfart and all the mega chains??? Here ya go… The main key is this is a mom and pop store that loves your business and will remember you… your business is important to them. I avoid the predatory, company owned 7−11s that popped up in anticipation of the dismantling of the state liquor store system. I love Big Value… stop by if you’re in my ‘hood and need a soda or somethin’!
