I love this shop, and have been going faithfully for over a year now. I have gotten compliments on my hair from day one from the traditional cuts and highlights to my wild and hot colors. Young and old love my hair and my coworkers take bets on what Dee will do next Dee has a great heart and is a perfectionist in all that she does. Yes at times she runs over to the time for the next appointment but thats because she tries to give everyone the best cut and color possible She always puts forward her best effort and I have never seen anyone leave her shop not looking great. I have never heard her make a negative comment about some one of a different race In fact, there are always people of different races in the shop waiting to get their hair done Its a fun laid back shop with a great fun and talented laid back owner I have paid a lot of money for hair cuts and styles and never walked out looking and feeling as good as I do with Dee She always consults with each client and I have seen people bring in photos and walk out with the hair cut and color looking like the picture. She is a perfectionist with each cut and color

I had a horrible experience at this salon. Dee is very unprofessional. She talked about everything from the size of her boyfriend’s you-​know-​what to racial slurs against immigrants and people of color… «Immigrants take all our jobs». She even used the N-​word at one point to describe how she talked to friends when she was younger (to clarify: she is white). As a stylist, she misused her time and sent me out the door with wet hair and bleach still in my roots. I had to miss work to go home and wash it out myself. I returned to the salon later that day to ask for changes in the coloring of my hair. She responded by adding thick brown streaks underneath platinum, essentially turning my hair into a zebra striped mess. When I requested that she find a way to blend in the highlights, she responded by saying, «You don’t know what highlights are». Um, I’ve had highlights for years. I know what they are. I asked her to trim my hair, and instead she cut one side of my hair to my chin while keeping the back of my hair to my shoulders. AKA she gave me a mullet. She then chose to style it how she liked (without my consent), which meant that she gave me a bump-​it on the back of my head. If she had made any effort to ask me what I wanted, I would have NEVER asked for that. She made it very difficult for me to stand up for myself throughout the entire process. When I went home that evening, my boyfriend pointed out that the brown streaks she put in my hair did not even reach my roots, and instead started about half an inch away; leaving the roots platinum and having a definite line of brown. The next day, unhappy with my hair, I went back to ask for a refund. She insisted that I allow her to cut my hair again, to which I turned down. She refused to give me a refund (I paid $ 150 for the cut and color), and instead pulled $ 30 out of her wallet and handed it over to me. Realizing there was no point in arguing with her, I left the salon. Later that day she sent me a series of passive aggressive texts, angered with my request for a refund. It was incredibly unprofessional and I will never go back to this salon. I advise anyone who wants a classic cut and color to stay away.

Picked this place on a whim when I saw a mention that you could write on a wall. I called and spoke to Therisa, who informed me they took walk-​ins. «I’m the one with the pink hair.»

I can’t say enough good things about this place. As the namesake would suggest, the theme is very automotive and eccentric. Absolutely love it! I was informed the owner is the artist, a labor of love. A 7 and 9 year old were completely mesmerized, couldn’t stop pointing out all the cool stuff. There’s a huge chalk wall in the back lounge area, artwork, robots and cool stuff to discover in every nook and cranny. What a gem this place is.
The staff here was absolutely amazing and friendly! Therisa did an amazing job on my 9 year old’s haircut, the best he’s had yet. Usually, for him a haircut isn’t pleasant… but Therisa changed all that. He couldn’t help but smile when she was done. How awesome is that.
The price of the haircut was $ 10, so I definitely didn’t mind tipping! What a great deal!
I came during the middle of the day, so parking was a breeze. Their location is a stone’s throw to PLU, walking distance to coffee shops, PLU bookstore and eateries.
If I haven’t mentioned how awesome this experience yet, let me convey this further. When we were leaving, I requested a business card I was also handed an envelope… marked «free gift». I waited until we were in the car to open it, to find we were given a coupon for our next visit. Day made.

Like the other reviewers, I’ve had some really crappy things done to my hair and wouldn’t let anyone touch my hair. I started going to Dee a few years ago and she is the only one who touches my hair. Additionally, my entire family goes to see her (wife and both kids). I’ve seen the amazing color jobs that Dee has done both when I’ve been in the shop and outside of the shop and she is an extremely talented and caring hair magician. Don’t listen to crap reviews from people who have processed their hair too much; go to the Deez Dooz page on Facebook and see the awesome work for yourselves!
If you are anything like me, you read reviews of a place before you try it out; Dee is worth trying.

Dee really did a great job on my mess of a mop normal people call hair LMAO. I am very picky about salons and after multiple bad experiences since moving to Washington I had to resort to going way too long in between cuts. Dee took the time to do my hair right and was very friendly. Glad to say I have finally found a good place to get a cut (and color some time down the road).

I get my hair done by Deez Dooz. Best stylist ever. When I get a hair cut, I just tell them to cut however they like to make it look good on me. She’s the only person that’s been able to do it!

I called to make an appointment and was put on hold for over ten minutes. I finally hung up and called back only for it to ring once then go to voicemail twice. I never got to experience this place which is unfortunate, it looks great. I’m going to take my business elsewhere that will take my call.

Ask for Jarod Morgan he is an amazing hair stylist! He listens to what his clients want and always does an amazing job.

I started seeing the owner, Dee, for her new client specials. I have kept going back for the last 3 years because she is amazing! Not only does she do great cuts and color, she always does her best to make sure everyone feels comfortable while there. If you want a great quality color, cut, and style, don’t bother going anywhere else!!! I’ve tried one stylist besides Dee just because the prices were cheaper. The other stylist messed my hair up and I had to go do the walk of shame and have Dee fix it anyways. Don’t bother wasting your money on crappy stylists, go see the Hair Mechanix!

Just drove all the way from Portland Oregon to get another great hair job from Dee! So worth the drive! I hope all you Washingtonians realize just how lucky you are to have her!

After moving to Washington, I bounced from salon to salon, hoping to find someone I liked as much as my hair dresser in California. Three years. It took me THREE YEARS to finally find Dee. Needless to say, I’m a tad picky.
I don’t color my hair so I’ve only gotten it cut but every time it has turned out great. I pay $ 35 per cut (my hair is fine, I think thicker hair may cost more), which is a freaking steal. Dee will tell you exactly what she’s doing when she styles it so you can do it yourself at home. Never any pressure to buy product (although she will tell you about stuff you can get and whether or not she thinks it’s worth it).
Last time I was there I brought my newest baby (brand, brand new, like eight weeks old) and I think I actually breast fed her while I was in the chair. Normally I feel weird nursing in public but I didn’t feel judged or uncomfortable, which is kind of a big deal for me.
The area is really cute and reminds me a lot of Portland. There is no private lot, only on street parking though, which does kind of blow. There is a school lot right next door. Yeah, don’t park there. :-|

If your looking for a salon you can trust this is the place for you. The owner Dee has a very original style about her and her personality makes you feel like your her best friend even if your a first time customer. I originally came to hair mechanics with a groupon now coupon and was made a customer for life. She can multi task while still making you feel like your the only person in the room. As the owner and only stylist your gauranteed to love your hair and get great customer service. Pricing is very reasonable. She charges you on how long it takes to do your hair. Because she is the owner and relies on her income to take care of her shop and adorable little son you will never be ignored or leave unhappy. The shop itself has a great 80s/​punk rock vibe to it. Everything is vintage and very relaxing while being upbeat at the same time. Theres handmade jewelry and vintage clothing for sale. There’s a wall you can sign your name on and vintage comic collages done by Dee herself. It really feels like your walking into a secret club house. Do not miss out on coming to the best place I’ve found for trendy and perfect hair color and cuts. There’s a military discount and often a groupon now deal for a 20 $ haircut and style. I really can’t say enough about hair mechanic junkies.

Deeane is a one of a kind. That may sound cliché, but when you meet her, you will know what I mean! I have ALWAYS been happy with the haircuts she gives me. She has done my color a few times, too, and it was exactly what I was going for. When you sit in Deeane’s chair you travel to a world unlike your own, or at least, unlike MY own! She is an artist in many ways — super creative, always thinking outside the box, and has fun doing it! She has the most positive attitude of anyone I know.
