They stepped up and revamped the entire experience from what I experienced 5 year ago. I will certainly come back for more.

Best service of any Japanese restaurant I’ve been. On a cold day, the waiter served me warm soup while my food was waiting to warm up. Little things like that make this place great.

Went there for lunch. $ 6.95 chicken teriyaki lunch special was delicious and large. Good sauce, tender chicken that was not over grilled. Also got cherry blossom sushi roll. It was very tasty, but compared to but I’m used to in the Portland area, very small and expensive. $ 10.95 for 6(or 8, can’t remember for certain) tiny pieces. The picture on the menu mix the pieces look about twice as big as they actually were. Also got free miso soup and a very very warm greeting when I arrived, and a very sincere thank you when I left. If I happen to be in the area for lunch again I will be back.

This place is great! The food is always hot, freshly cooked and delicious! The servers are always super nice(and patient with my indecisiveness). The orange chicken is the best I’ve ever had, with actual orange slices in it and the sauce is a nice saucey texture, not sticky goo. Icing on the cake: delivery is free for orders over $ 30!!!

Chicken teriyaki was good. Fried rice was okay. Overall though, just run of the mill type of food. Maybe that is why we witnessed this… Right after we received our meals, a guy brought in bags of outside food from somewhere else. Set it up on the table and our waitress and others sat close enough to us slurping their outside meals. That was annoying to hear. I understand they have a right to eat too but, in front of your customers is unprofessional and not appealing when you’re running a restaurant. Water refill would have been appreciated but, she was busy eating and slurping her meal. I’m not sure we would return to this one, the slurping was a real turn off and the food wasn’t something I’ll be craving anytime soon.

Great food, fast and friendly service. I definitely would recommend this place. While there is not shortage of teriyaki in this area, this is one of the best I had while I was there. Sushi was great and presentation was exceptional.

Came in here excited to eat authentic Japanese food. The service was ok, could have been better if we could get refills on our waters. The place was not busy at all so there is no excuse. The sushi was disgusting, the avocado was brown and my California roll was warm. Go across the street in the mall for better sushi, or just 2 blocks down sushi revolution. This place was also more pricey than it was worth.

The reviews had me thinking I’d found a new favorite Chinese/Japanese lunch spot while working during the week. The taste test turned out much differently :( Called in my order, super easy, showed up about 15 – 20 minutes later and it was ready. The younger gal up front was super nice, no wait and back on my way to work. Once diving in, I quickly realized this wasn’t life changing by any means. First off, the rice was kinda dry, not crunchy dry or sticky dry, but somewhere in between and very bland. Honestly, just had a weird taste that I couldn’t quite place or agree with. The general tao chicken was different as well. Half of it was«good» and the other half was cardboard good. I felt like half of it was leftover from yesterday and the other half was fresh. So every bite was a surprise and I just wasn’t in the mood for it. I finished the food, tossed the menu I brought back to work with me and will write this one off as a learning experience. The search for Tacoma Mall area Chinese food holy grail continues…

This is one of the most delicious happy teriyaki I been too. Very close to my work so I gave it a shot. Great friendly staff. Food came out in 10 min and it was exceptional. Everything was cooked perfectly. Perfect spices. Will be coming back for lunch with my fat friend Andy.

Now that Dennis has sold the place and moved into retirement, things are not the same. The food portions are smaller and the quality is not the same.

Food was good. Customer service was good. Its a small little restaurant in the plaza were a bunch of other restaurants surround it including Red Robins and Five Guys. I got the avocado roll because that was the closest thing to a vegetable roll. I also got the chicken teriyaki combo which was served with white rice and a side of salad which went well together. It’s a nice little cozy place seems like they had a lot of their regular customers there that day too.

Over ten bucks for Sesame Chicken like it’s God’s Gift to Sesame Chicken. Granted you get more than enough but they skimp on the rice(one scoop). You can get comparable Sesame Chicken at a different Happy Teriyaki on Pacific near UWT for two bucks less. They must clear several grand a month but insist on doling out tiny single scoops of rice out of their tight fists. You would think rice would be plentiful in a freaking Teriyaki Joint. You would think they have a room with nothing but rice in it. Are you saving the rice for your wack sushi no one’s buying. QUITSKIMPINGONTHERICE. They certainly take advantage of their prime location by overcharging and underserving and dazzling white folks. The crux of this review, however, is not their stingy rice practices. It is the utter disdain the cashier lady showed me by slapping my debit card down like it had an STD on it. I HANDEDITTOYOUDIDN’T I? Most times I’m fast enough to rip it out of their hands but this time she got the better of me. Every time someone hands me my card back I thank them. Gave this one a sideways look that said hope you get replaced by a robot someday.

My first time here and the wonderful, sweet, helpful lady at the register suggested a few popular items for me. I went with the sesame chicken, which she said is made with all white chicken, and wow! It really is amazing, I’m not sure if it’s the chicken itself or the sauce but I love it. The sauce is a lot lighter than others I’ve had but still so flavorful. I will absolutely be back to try other items on the menu.

We have made this a regular restaurant in our dining rotation. I have yet to have a dining experience, I’ve eaten off their main and sushi menus. The service is always friendly, when they are busy the wait isn’t too long for food. The only draw back is the parking situation, the city allowed to much development in the strip mall without adequate parking, so during busy times it can be a pain to park.

Been here 3 times … This place is clean, has consistently great food… And the service is great(when those 2 ladies aren’t over busy)… Love this place! It is our new«go to» for Chinese or teriyaki … Yum!

I have been coming here for years, their food always seems really fresh and delicious. The servers are very friendly, I have never had a bad experience. They have the best sesame chicken in town in my opinion.

Bottom Line: Adequate teriyaki in a super busy strip mall just north of Tacoma Mall… HOWEVER, it is overpriced. I paid $ 46 for 3 teriyaki plates, 2 drinks and a side of gyoza. What? Call me a cheapskate, but a teriyaki joint where we average $ 15 a person for very middle sized, average tasting portions is a joke. I think we may have been overcharged… or maybe because it was 3:00 we were on the cusp of the dinner service… but still, I can’t justify the cost. No way! Oh well, at least my son liked his balloon hat!( )
