Complete dump. The bar tender/owner was a complete jerk to everyone in our party despite us being the only people in the place. We ended up not even staying for the food because of how much of an asshole the owner was. Looks like we’ll only be using the bait shop from now on. Truly disappointed by this seemingly friendly restaurant.

I was treated to Mullet, a type of white fish. It was smoked and melted in my mouth! The only negative thing I’d say about this fish is it’s too darn bony! This place is tucked away off the main road and right on the shore of Lake Jackson. It was a rainy day that day so not a whole lot of people if any when we strolled in. So it was quiet at the time. I would recommend this place if you just want a laid back atmosphere.

We found this place by accident, when I took a wrong turn which ultimately ended up being a very right turn. This place is down the end of a very residential street where you would never expect an oyster bar to be. When I turned around in the parking lot, the overall appearance of the place intrigued me. Shuckers has the look of either a very quirky awesome local place, or an abandoned bait shop. Either way I had to find out. Much to my surprise, Shuckers is a very cool local place. There was a crowd of people outside on the deck who were customers and yet greeted us like family. I felt like I could pull up a chair with the other guest and have a beer with friends. Once past the welcome committee, I found that the people who work there are just as friendly as the guests outside. We chose to sit outside on the screened in porch overlooking the lake. Although there isn’t much lake left, it was still a nice view and it felt good to be outside. The menu is limited to mostly seafood and some barbeque. Considering I was doing much better than I expected, I decided we should try some of both and really sample what Shuckers had to offer. We ordered a dozen parmesan oysters, an order of smoked buffalo wings, ½ lb of steamed gulf shrimp, and the pulled pork sandwich. Before I tell you how excellent the food was, let me say that the beer was ice cold. Beautifully, wonderfully, blissfully cold beer. Even if the food was horrible I would have sat there content to enjoy the breeze, the friendly people, and the ice cold beer. Rather than describe each food item individually, let me suffice to say that everything was excellent… and I ate some of everything. Rock solid food and did I mention the beer was nice and cold? Clearly, this is not a fancy place to go for dinner or a place you can expect valet parking. If you are not run off by the outside appearance, you will find a pearl inside this oyster bar. Relaxed, local, fun —

If you miss Posey’s, if you like seafood, if you like food with a view, if you like a little adventure once in a while, you have to try this place. Ok, it’s pretty much a biker bar, but it’s a really friendly biker bar, and with really cool surroundings. Great oysters, great food in general, and cheap beer. It’s a «real-Florida» kind of place, and right on Lake Jackson.
