i have been a patient at the hour glass for more than 20 years. after a recent appointment i noticed that they got my prescription wrong the second i tried on my new glasses. the doctor told me my vision had improved and when i asked her how, she could not give me a clear answer. i noticed while i was getting my eyes checked that they were dealing with a new computer system, so something could have possibly be entered wrong. hey, it happens. when i mentioned this to the associate helping me, he told me to wear them for a couple of days to «get used to the new prescription». i have been wearing glasses since i was 6, i think i’d know if something was wrong. i still took his advice and it was still just not right. the floor just shouldn’t look like it is 20 feet away. came home to NYC, and got my eyes re-checked by another doctor, and discovered that the hour glass was completely off on my exam. what else? they take walk ins so even if you have an appointment there is most always a 20 – 30 minute wait. after this visit, i unfortunately will not be back again. disappointing on several aspects. what happened to you, hour glass?

Walked in here after Vision Works treated us horribly. As I said, we were walk-in customers. They were all very nice and appreciated out business. It was both my wife and I and I was in the back being checked within 20 minutes of arrival. This was as new patients. I really appreciate a business that appreciates MY business.

No one likes going to the doctor. That being said, I hate going to the eye doctor. Dilation sucks, although painless, it sucks. My eyes are pretty special. Thank you, mother and father. Therefore, when I had a check up at the Hour Glass, they noticed I wore gas permeable contact lenses and wanted to show everyone and their mother what they looked like when on a human eye. I know Tallahassee is small so there is less exposure to different situations; but come on, this is the 21st century. Please. Then, once my eyes were fully dilated, they noticed a scar on the back of my eye that I’ve had for over a decade now, which my usual eye specialist has been monitoring carefully. But of course, this was a rare occurrence for them, as well. They had the audacity to ask me whether it would be ok if they had the intern come in and look at my eye. After spending an hour and a half at the office already, I was getting mighty impatient, and did not appreciate being a lab rat. After waiting an additional five minutes for them to find the intern who was in another examination room, I left Hour Glass very disappointed in their service and the way they treated me as a patient. As a customer, the experience is not as bad. I bought a pair of glasses here, and they took me through tens of twenties of pairs to find the perfect frames. My salesperson was very honest and helped me find a great pair to fit my face and style. There aren’t many options for eye doctors in Tallahassee, so I recommend looking elsewhere. If you want a place to find nice quality frames and lenses, the Hour Glass is a good option.

I read the other reviews before I went and was a bit concerned that I would have a negative experience. However, I had a great experience at the Hour Glass! I had no wait for my appointment, no wait for getting glasses, and no wait for picking up my glasses. The doctor was wonderful, probably the best optometrist I’ve seen in years. All of the staff was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly! They also have a great selection of glasses. I highly recommend the Hour Glass!

I can’t say about the service. We had an appointment for 4:00. We left at 5:15 when we hadn’t been seen. It seems to be a trend with this entity. Pass.
