The four stars if for the view and the atmosphere. Very cute café and nice staff. I’m just not a big fan of the taste of their espresso, or coffee for that matter. They’re specialty drinks are good but pricey for what they are. The syrups they use are really good.

Talk about a brew with a view! Power Plant, located just under The Edison and ‘energized’ by Catalina Café, is a gorgeous little coffee shop right in the middle of Cascades Park. With both inside and outside seating available, you can enjoy your coffee beverage of choice either while basking in the sun or hiding behind a book. There is something for everyone from espressos to cappuccinos and chai lattes to cold brews. Their kitchen is open until 4 if you’re looking to grab a bite as well. The Lox Bagel is to die for with an explosion of flavors coming at you all at once! They also have a variety of other sandwiches and pastries to choose from. While it may get a little pricey depending on what you purchase, the ambiance and location is well worth the visit. The tables are also large enough to spread your books out on and spend the afternoon studying. Personally, after spending a few hours studying, a nice walk around the park before I get back to hitting the books always makes me feel refreshed(along with the coffee of course!). If you’re a coffee lover like me, I would absolutely recommend heading down to the Power Plant to energize your day! P. S.FREEWIFI!

A great place for some of the best coffee and scenery in Tallahassee. Overlooking cascades park and part of the new Edison building this is a great place to study or for a romantic date. The coffee and coffee cocktails are excellent. The baristas are extremely knowledgeable and love to talk coffee as well.

Outstanding coffee, baked goods and sandwiches. The settings, indoors and outdoors are second to none! The staff is courteous and they go out of their way to make you feel«at home». Great place!

Great coffee, great view, great place to work, and great service. Can’t really ask for anything more. There’s plenty of seating around inside and outside. Outlets are a bit harder to find outside though. Its quiet enough that you can work, but not so quiet that you feel like a jerk if you’re talking with a friend. There’s great food options and snacks if you get hungry. I think I found my new favorite spot to study!

This has definitely become one of my new fave spots in Tallahssee. If you love coffee and also running in to every dog you could ever dream of, you should come here. The lavender latte is my favorite drink, especially since all of their syrups are home made. The atmosphere is perfect for studying or hanging out with friends. There are a few seats inside, but there are so many tables outside that are perfect for drinking their craft coffee and people watching while you pretend to study. I also love trying the different pour overs they offer here. They never disappoint.

I love being able to grab a drink and relax outside with a great view of Cascades. I have been to the Power Plant a few times, and I just love the coffee that Catalina brews. Power Plant also offers some really great smoothies, and though they are a little pricey, you owe yourself a treat once in a while!

So cute! This place had a great atmosphere, and of course if you like Catalina Café you’ll love the coffee here also as it is run by them. I really like how they have both outdoor seating and a good amount of indoor seating as well for those who either want to catch up with friends or get some work done.

My wife has been raving that this is one of her favorite study spots in Tallahassee so I had to check it out. It’s very hidden, tucked away at the bottom of The Edison. As soon as you walk up, you know this place is going to be special. The inside is nice and cozy. They’ve got one large table to work at, then a few small tables with two or three chairs. However, if you’re looking to stay, there’s plenty of outdoor seating. The coffee and food and looked and smelled delicious. I ordered a cold brew coffee straight up. I figured I could taste how great the coffee is, or isn’t, without all that extra stuff. To my surprise, it was fantastic. One of the best cups of cold brew coffee I’ve had in Tally! We stayed there for hours, working, enjoying the atmosphere, the weather, and I can’t wait to return. If you’re looking for a coffee shop to study, to talk a walk around Cascade, or simply discover something new, this is the place to visit!

Power Plant has elevated itself into one of the finest coffee shops I’ve set foot in. There’s no hesitation on my end when I say Dustin(GM) makes the best cappuccino in the Capital City. The effort to launch the brand here at Power Plant clings tenaciously to the Catalina Café management. It’s been a joy to watch the space mature into what it was truly intended for. In addition to the clever implementation of craft cocktails, I’m most impressed by the willingness to improve among the staff and ownership. The sign of an outstanding management team is when they recognize the room for growth and refinement. Now only if we could get the space upstairs to do the same.

Great location overlooking Cascades Park. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel which was delicious and fresh. The coffee is also very good. A little more expensive than other breakfast cafes, but it’s worth it. Treat Yo Self.

The location! The coffee! The baristas make beautiful latte art that tastes delicious! There is indoor and outdoor seating. Last night, I sat outside and enjoyed a fire pit table and the lights and music from the water fountain show at Cascades Park. The staff is so friendly and nice. They are always willing to bring my coffee — in a real mug — outside to my table. It is so nice to be outside enjoying that view for as long as possible. This coffee shop is a gem in the Capital City — I want everyone to visit and help make it a success!

Now, after a few months have passed, it seems like the Power Plant is fully up and running, deserving an updated review and another star. The new cocktail menu is in place, as you can see by the shelf behind the counter, and more artwork and decorations have been added. It now feels like it belongs there. Just like I do.

UPDATE: Third times a charm! They’ve worked out delivering food efficiently by using table signs that use coffee related names rather than numbers(a nice touch). And the food was warm and came out quickly. One negative: they still don’t carry black tea(each of last three times, over many weeks, they say that they’re out). A great turn around in service! ORIGINALUPDATEDREVIEW: I hate to do this, but I’m taking my rating down to 2 stars. And that’s to reflect the view, which is awesome, and the food, which is good. But the service is terrible. I thought the poor service our first time was an anomaly, but sadly it seems that poor service is as good as it gets. After waiting 45 minutes for breakfast sandwiches, I’m told by person who took order that they’ve had problems with orders going to kitchen in new system. Fine. But where was the order she wrote down? Oh! She gave it to the kitchen. Well… where’s the food? Told by manager that an employee put the paper order in her pocket and then left the restaurant. Seriously? They comped some scones and said they’d make order asap. Then the order comes out wrong. Despite it being written down correctly. Sad. Even more baffling: when they bring out food they walk around aimlessly trying to see who ordered it. For every order, every time. Frequently going in and out of building to patio, and then delivering luke warm food. Maybe they could think about using table stands with numbers? Just a thought. To be a bit harsh: I think the service needs a complete overhaul. Otherwise it will doom or diminish what could be a true gem. Will check back in a few weeks to see if things have changed or improved

Went here at night after dinner to grab some coffee. Pretty solid. I’m picky about my specialty drinks and have yet to find one on their menu that I like, but hopefully I’ll find one someday. If you’re in the mood for a quirky drink, try the mazagran. It’s one of my favorites and all the Catalina shops serve it.

I really like this space, both inside and out. You can’t escape the building’s history as a power plant itself, so the naming of this café is perfect. The coffee itself is quite good — if you’ve been to the two other Catalina café’s(Gaines, Capital Circle) then you know. I ordered a Cubano( ) and I may just as well have been on Calle Ocho. I’d be nice to be able to order a Colada — but we’re not there yet. This is an outstanding location for an indoor/outdoor café.

Located downstairs from The Edison is Cascades Park, Power Plant is the a coffee shop that is open in the wee hours & till 11p some nights. They didn’t have posted hours when I was there, so this is me trying to recall a brief question and answer session with the tall bearded guy(manager?). Anyhoo… They have espresso, gluten free snacks, bottled juices, fizzy drinks, pastries, and breakfast. Indoor and outdoor seating — a couple of wifi options(xfinity hotspot and Edison wifi), and a great view! They also serve cocktails, and will soon have Tapas. Currently their kitchen closes at 4p. I had my 1st ever pumpkin spice latte… b/c they say theirs is made with natural pumpkin. The coffee is apparently Catalina Coffee, which I’ve never tried. I’m a Lucky Goat, Grassroots or Bay Leaf fan. My Pumpkin Spice Latte was warm, not hot… Fine drinking temp, but it ruined my ritual of burning my tongue and waiting for it to cool down. 5 stars for the location, potential, personality, customer service — and b/c Im so darned excited that it’s there!
