At breakfast for two days in a row: first I really loved it, and it was good and the bill was just under $ 10, but the second day my bill came out to be like 12 bucks for an omelette and a cup of coffee, which I find that kind of pricing annoying. Maybe if the quality was perfect, but the eggs were just slightly over cooked both days. The hashbrowns were excellent however as was the coffee. The people working there were very nice.

It’s a cute little café in downtown Tampa. Parking could be an issue, but luck for us, it was within walking distance from our hotel. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and told where the menus were and that when we were ready to order to just step to the front to place our order. After that, they gave us a number to place at our table and then they brought the food out. We were here for breakfast and I ordered the Gyro Breakfast… which came with egg, gyro meat & feta, pressed inside Cuban bread. Coming from Kentucky, I’m not a Cuban sandwich connoisseur by no means, but I have had a few gyros in my day. The gyro meat on that sandwich was disgusting! The egg between the feta and the meat was thick and had a strange texture to it. I ate a few bites and picked off the rest of the egg and meat. I just couldn’t even eat a small portion… maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but my daughter’s meal didn’t look any better and she wasn’t impressed either.

We stopped by this cute café on a whim. I’m so glad we did. The Cuban and tornado sandwiches were huge and tasty. The stars, though, were the salted caramel ice cream and the brownie. That brownie. I mean… chocolaty, gooey, rich, decadent… just divine. If they have some when you stop by, buy one. Or two. You won’t want to share.

To the fellow Unilocaler who left me a comment«why did you return to a restaurant you said had spoiled food ?» I wrote this review several months ago it was stuck in the Unilocal queue and I had to repost to get rid of it so it may seem I returned to this place but I have not so I do not know if they improved on quality control I won’t be returning to find out !

The atmosphere is industrial café chic and the staff engages lively with the customers :) the food is unbelievable. Bring on the Cuban, and a drink from Lisa is a must! No matter what type, she is the mixologist of the non-alcoholic beverage world.

I came to Moxie’s for lunch with some coworkers on Friday, March 4. While I have heard good things, Moxie’s did not quite measure up to my expectations once I actually ate here. I ordered half of some sort of roast beef sandwich and a cup of their chili. While the chili was decent, I was unimpressed by the sandwich. Their choice of bread is odd and the sandwich was quite plain — I did not care for it. My meal wasn’t exactly cheap either, especially considering how underwhelming it was. Service-wise, the woman who took my order was nice and friendly. My food experience at Moxie’s was so-so. Perhaps other menu items are more successful than the ones I ordered.

Two stars because the food is decent. However, the delivery aspect is poor. I work less than half of a mile from the restaurant, and was appalled at the $ 10 delivery fee on a $ 19 order. Such a shame. Our company will no longer be customers of Moxies.

Saw this place had good reviews so decided to have breakfast here while staying the weekend in Tampa. I was a bit disappointed. We waiting about 25 minutes for our food and my Cuban Pressed Sandwich was cold. I can say the Café Con Leche was amazing.

When I saw the menu, I couldn’t decide what I wanted cause everything looked so good! I ended up with a breakfast burrito that was average. I was disappointed that the spinach and green peppers were raw. The eggs were cold and the salsa had a little kick to it that I wasn’t expecting. The portion was a nice size so I left feeling full, but was slightly disappointed at the mediocrity of the burrito. Not to mention, we were a table of 3 and the food took 25 minutes. I might give this place another shot when I’m back in Tampa and order something from the lunch menu.

Finding a table here can be difficult if you have a big group and you are going at lunch time. There is no actual table service as you must order your food at the counter and wait for it to be brought to you. Portions are big and the food is good. I ordered the Mediterranean wrap with chicken. They offer breakfast on Saturdays but sadly not on Sundays. I definitely need to go back and try some other items.

Fantastic service at this independent downtown favorite. The breakfast sandwiches are huge. Try the quiche of the day it’s always good. My girls love the Cinnabon bun pancakes. I admit that I sneaked a few bites and they are light and yummy! Next time I might try a peanut butter sandwich.

Two years now. Two years going to Moxie’s and asking for exactly the same sandwich and Café con Leche. When I was an Elementalist, I used to enjoy walking around downtown. I can say that I have tried almost every single place around that area that is not too new. But, I choose when, as one of mine is quite particular about his food. Very. My Finicky Eater loves this place because, he claims, it tastes almost as in a Puerto Rican cafeteria, but fancier and definitely more expensive. He loves the warm, soft Cuban bread buttered that hugs his scrambled eggs and bacon. He used to love drinking coffee as a toddler, a habit his grandfather from Ciales got him hooked on. I am glad he has abandoned that as he is hyper enough without the caffeine. Moxie’s is nothing like a Puerto Rican cafeteria. It is a small deli that offers a lot of choices of healthy eating and salads… fresh pastries and cookies… To ask for a big version of the Café con Leche is to get a bucket of sweetness one can’t possibly finish. The restaurant smells exactly delicious, unlike some places where the aromas marry and deserve a divorce. It gets quite busy at times because one can order the food on the phone and then pick it up; so the many downtown workers do know about the trick. Often times the line gets interesting, but the staff keeps cool and smiles and tries hard to move it along. We are a bad influence when we are there. A carefully coiffed lady came to pick up her lunch and ogled marshmallow double-fudged brownies… we broke into a «you know you want it… and you deserve it…» enough times that she ended up buying two«for a friend.» The Green-Eyed foodie always orders something new. This time she was enjoying her huge sandwich as we looked forward to the various cookies I had bought to share with her. We were both anticipating… salivating… when we looked around to find all of these GQ suited men sitting around us chewing on crispy salads or juicing. «You know there has to be something really wrong with them mentally if they come here to order that” – she mused. I did not wait for her to finish the thought and bit a recently baked peanut butter cookie.

Moxie’s is a great place to visit for morning coffee and snack, or lunch, particularly if you’re on foot in downtown Tampa. Car-parking-wise, its in a tough spot. They have delicious coffees, and mochas, and lattes, and espresso, etc, etc. They also have huge cuban-bread breakfast sandwiches, muffins, granola, fresh fruit, and all sorts of morning treats. For lunch my favorite is the Bleu Moxx sandwich, with turkey, bacon, bleu cheese crumbles and cheddar on pumpernickel. I’ve always devoured any brownie, cookie, or other dessert I’ve gotten here too.

I’ve always wanted to try Moxie’s but their hours never allowed that, so of course I was really excited to come in on a Saturday. They are open until 3p on Saturday now. They have limited outside seating which is great if you like to people watch. Their coffee selection is great! It’s a cute, clean place with attentive staff. We ordered the French breakfast and salted Carmel french toast. Both were good but nothing special. It has a huge variety of food so it’s easy for anyone to find something they are craving at the time. The prices are also affordable. Overall, it was decent food and good service yet super quick to the point that a person may feel rushed. I’d probably come back to try their salads or sandwiches.

I’m a sandwich fan, and they’ve got it goin’ on here. On a previous visit, I had the Old Broadway and I have two words for you: holy cannoli! Such a massive sandwich, I could only eat half(my husband proudly ate the other half, after eating a whole Old Broadway of his own.). Their Russian dressing is absolutely killer. Definitely a messy sandwich. Another visit I had the Moxie’s Harvest Salad, and the«whole» size is gigantic(aren’t you noticing a theme of «BIG» here?). Salads are super fresh and healthy. Adjusting to their huge portions, this time I got half of the Turkey in the Slaw and a side of potato salad. Sandwich was spot on– I love that the slaw isn’t too mayo-ed, and has a light sweetness to it. Potato salad is good, just make sure to amp it up with some salt and pepper. I will definitely be back here, especially after drooling over their insane PB&J menu!

A quick, affordable place for lunch downtown. The menu is never ending, with peanut butter specials, assorted espressos, salads, and wraps; breakfast is served all day. I went during the lunch rush and the process and wait was rather painless. I had the turkey in the slaw, which is categorized under their«turkey specialties.» Thick slices of turkey breast and melted Swiss cheese on Cuban bread and the house-made coleslaw. Rather simple sandwich, but the coleslaw was fantastic, not creamy, which I prefer. What I liked best about the sandwich was that there was enough turkey, cheese and slaw, which sounds a bit silly to say since the sandwich was huge(i.e.: lots of bread) but it was just proportioned well. I did not get a chance to try the coffee(already had my caffeine fix) which was a bummer!
