I was very happy with the surgery and outcome, however I do not endorse people in the medical field that try to overcharge, especially when there’s insurance involved and an explanation of benefits with the patient responsibility outlined. So, if you want good oral surgery and don’t care about flushing money down the drain, then go here! I went to my consultation and my estimate for my portion of the surgical removal for 4 teeth and an hour of general anesthesia was $ 896. When I awoke from surgery, I was told by the tech that I needed some extra anesthesia because the surgery ran long due to a difficult root, and that she added some extra gauze on one side because it was bleeding. When I checked out, my final price was $ 1050 with an itemized bill. Several weeks later, I receive my explanation of benefits from my dental insurance company, saying that the amount I am responsible for was $ 844, and that’s AFTER the adjusted extra anesthesia. So, I overpaid by $ 202. I contacted the office and my call was returned two days later. The woman(Anne) tried to tell me that the $ 75 deductible on my EOB isn’t included in the $ 844(completely false as I verified with Delta that the patient responsibility includes everything). She also told me that they had to use something called Collaplugs because of excessive bleeding, so she only owes me $ 28. WHAT?! I argued with her about it not being on my bill when I checked out and she said they didn’t put it there because they knew my insurance wouldn’t cover it. Again. WHAT?! After researching what collaplugs were, I found out that they are dissolvable white plugs that go in the open socket and dissolve over time. I know for a fact that these were not used, as I removed the gauze shortly after and the blood clot came out, exposing the bone. So, that’s a lie. I sent a lengthy explanation of my issue, which was basically that my insurance company said that I should pay one amount with them covering the rest, and I was charged over $ 200 more than this. I got a letter in the mail, in which it is rather clear that no one looked into the details, and I’m told that I was not overcharged(even though Anne told me on the phone I was overcharged), my insurance paid the max and I had to pay the rest. They did send me a check, but also basically said they won’t serve me or my family again. Nice, right?! Exactly what you want in a provider.
