Super friendly service! I went here with my parents while on vacation in Taos. We ordered the Benedict and Breakfast Sandwich, both were great!

We have eaten there several times. Every time the food has been wonderful, the owner and her daughter are so nice. Highly recommended!

Very bad attitude of server/owner(?), so we left before ordering. My husband ordered decaf as three of us ordered regular coffee. My husband was told that he would not get a refill without paying for each cup. We politely said we changed our mind about having breakfast and we left. All other restaurants in Taos offered free refills on both decaf and regular. Not very accommodating or friendly!

Gabriella was our wonderful server! We walked in about 20 minutes before closing and she as well as her mother treated us like we were the first and most valuable customer of the day! My mother had the Bearclaw Breakfast and I had the Blue Corn Pancakes both were equally amazing! Don’t let the«Organic» coffee scare you, it’s just as good as that other stuff, guaranteed you can’t even taste the difference. Looking forward to making it there at least one more time before we leave!

Stopped in for lunch. Kind of a bare bones local place. Super friendly staff. Food is all high quality ingredients(e.g. organic, local sourced). The food is really good.(I had the chicken pesto sandwich and a brownie.) It didn’t blow my mind which is why I give 4 stars instead of 5.

Our family found BEARCLAW Bakery and Café here on Unilocal and were so happy we did! The food was delicious! We ordered the granola with yogurt and fruit and the french toast. Excellent food and great service, we’ll be coming back for sure. I must now add that we asked if it would be possible to have a carrot cake made specially for my sisters birthday. Since it was the very next day, the owner came in early to get it to us that day. It was beautiful and seriously the best carrot cake we’ve ever had! Thanks again!

Delicious breakfast with excellent food made from scratch with service to match! Perfectly cooked eggs(probably best in town). One of the specials, eggs benedict, was a great portion with perfectly poached eggs and skillet fried ham on a green chile scone with sautéed spinach. If your looking for a healthier option go for the breakfast stir fry with plenty of veggies on a bed of rice with an option of two eggs on top. Can’t go wrong with their blue corn pancakes with a blueberry compote either! A must try breakfast/lunch place if your are in Taos!

Stopped by for a pastry and coffee. Both were very good. The lady serving us was super friendly and made us feel right at home. Must be a favorite of the locals also as she seemed to know most of her customer’s.

Originally tried to go to Michael but the line was out the door. So walked a half a block and found this gem! Delicious breakfast. I had a spinach and Bacon benedict which I loved. Good coffee, good ambiance, nice staff. Skip Michaels(I tried it the next day and was very disappointed) and walk the extra half block. You’ll be glad you did.

This is a great little place to grab breakfast in Taos. When I visited the morning of Oct. 16, there were 6 tables and a constant stream of customers getting pastries to go. And all were being handled by one person. I can’t remember her name, but she handled it beautifully. She was as attentive as one person could possibly be given the situation and she didn’t let the stress show. On to the food. The breakfast burrito was huge. I got it with red and green. I liked the red better, but both were really good. The waitress also suggested an apple bear claw, made with local apples, because they don’t always make them. It was delicious, and I’m not even a big fan of pastries. I will definitely visit the Bear Claw next time I’m in Taos, and I hope all of its employees are as great as our waitress/hostess/cashier/pastry-ologist was.

It was a bit pricy– but well worth it. My omlette was spectacular. If you are on vacation, treat yourself to some really good fare. The added benefit is that there was no big line like at Michael’s down the street.

Down the street from my shop in El Prado(taos fur styling) I love this place great food and service too ! Pancakes and croissants are so good. Lunch salads or the lamb gyro are a don’t miss. Nice little shaded patio to enjoy your food too.

We stumbled upon this place by accident. My husband and I were in town for a wedding, and I had a hair appointment next door. We had planned to eat lunch after my appointment, and decided to just eat here after taking a quick glance at the menu and deciding it looked pretty good. I had the lamb gyro, and my husband had the breakfast stir fry. We both loved the food, and the homemade salad dressing is amazing. The service was friendly, but there was only one lady up front doing everything(taking orders, delivering orders, manning the register) so I don’t know if they were short staffed they day or if that’s the norm, but she was working hard to attend to everyone. We didn’t try any of the pastries because we had stopped at another restaurant/bakery for dinner the night before and had bought some baked goods there, but the next time we’re in town, we’ll have to come back and try them.

Awesome organic egg and bacon croissant sandwich. Kelly our server was super friendly and greets everyone who enters. Husband got the polenta and eggs– like eggs Benedict — with greens instead of potatoes. Had to get bear claw to go cause we were so full. Will return for sure

Spur of the moment choice for breakfast as we were walking down the street, turned into a really nice experience. Food was freshly and simply prepared, and beautifully presented. The huevos rancheros were done in a layered enchilada style with green chile, corn tortillas and potatoes. The bear claw special breakfast is a straightforward egg dish with potatoes/vegetables/meat options. Good coffee and pleasant service.

Good bakery, we had a bear law and and almond croissant… Unfortunately the coffee is bad. Actually there seems to be a pattern here, Taos coffee on the whole is pretty average.

Good plain croissants and chocolate scones. Almond croissant too sweet and sticky. Opens very early. Yay! Not easy to find in a car. Tiny storefront with small front patio. Not dog friendly. We were staying just up the street at El Pueblo Inn, which is good value and very quiet, in addition to being dog friendly. It has a decent breakfast, so pick up your croissants and scones to eat either with your motel breakfast(get there early) or for dessert. There are many more items on the menu at Bear Claw that we will consider next time we’re in Taos.

After a non-stop streak of awesome food in Taos, we finally hit our speed bump with Bear Claw. We were leaving town early today and instead of eating at our hotel restaurant, we decided to just grab some pastries to go at Bear claw. On the plus side, the place is very cute. The woman working there was also extremely friendly. The pastries, on the other hand, were not so great. My wife got a bear claw. You would think that given that this is the place’s namesake, it would be well done. Nope. Flat. Bland. Not fluffy. Very little taste. I got the apricot scone. They should rename this item to «dust ball with apricot flakes.» It completely lacked flavor, and it crumbled into dust as soon as I took my first bite. Such a cute place. Such friendly people. It’s just a shame that the bakery doesn’t bake well.

This is a clean and bright restaurant, but the waitstaff and food is average. Prices are ok. My blue corn pancakes were warm-ish, not hot. The same was true of my sausage. I ordered coffee, and never got a refill. My wife’s eggs, toast, and potatoes were hot and flavorful. She liked her cappuccino that was made with soy milk. We also bought an almond croissant and a bearclaw(to go) from the bakery counter. The almond croissant was good, had a sweet almond filling; the bearclaw was just sad. Very small and dry, with none of the nut filling found in this traditional pastry. Really? Your namesake pastry? Avoid.
