Great Greek food, a go-to for our family. We order here at least every-other week. Delivery is decent in timing, pick up is timely, food is always great. Some of our fav starters: Foursome,(extra pita a must for a group!), hummus or eggplant dips… the gyros are flavorful, chicken philly is uniquely«sweetly spiced» and a favorite of mine, all are plentiful. The small Greek salads are fresh, typical Greek, generous & plenty to share. Also like the shrimp Souvlaki.

This is always my to go place when I am around. With friends, coworkers. it is a very casual, service is very fast and staff super friendly! I have tried most of the menu(yes I know. ugh) and have never been disappointed. My favorites are still the lentil soup or the moussaka. Portions are huge so watch out! Platters and entrees come with a salad and pita bread before. So be ready! Prices are very decent, they take credit cards(except American Express) and we always get seated very fast. Quality is very consistent. Nom nom nom!

The best Greek food outside of NYC. It was a cool Sunday afternoon, got a table outside. The service was good, the Frappes(Greek coffee drink that is a perfect perk UP) were huge, the appetizers were tasty and the salad and dinners were excellent. It was well worth the detour to have a little feast here.

Best Greek in Westchester. I love the friendly staff & outdoor seating! It is rare to find octopus that is cooked the right way. They do it right every time.

Let me first say, in general, I have long been a BIG fan of Lefteris. That’s why I decided during a short visit home that visiting this restaurant was a priority. It was a nice night, so my friend and I decided to visit the Tarrytown location, with hopes of sitting outside. I normally frequent the Mt. Kisco location and have not experienced any of the following issues at that establishment. After a short wait, we were seated outside, right by the entrance. You would think this spot would encourage our waitress to check in frequently. Wrong. We went to order our food– hummus and eggplant dip to start. First off, the waitress brought the pita shortly after we ordered, which was fine, but frankly just a tease. In my prior experience the pita comes with the food. This wasn’t a big deal, but a little irritating. Both my friend and I ordered Greek salads. I also asked for grilled shrimp with mine, and dressing on the side. When the food finally arrived– the waitress brought the dips and salad at the same time. This was also a little odd, as our table was overflowing with food and we weren’t able to really enjoy the dips as an appetizer. My dressing was not on the side. I do very much enjoy the dressing at Lefteris, but since I asked for it on the side, I was annoyed. I called the waitress back and asked for a new salad. She didn’t apologize or show any remote remorse. The man who I assume is the owner brought back a new salad shortly after, and asked if I minded that they threw the same shrimp back on top. No, I didn’t mind, but you also didn’t really have the courtesy of asking appropriately. After all of this, the waitress would barely look at our table, and we had to flag down the hostess and bus boy to refill our water and bring us more pita. Normally, at the Mt. Kisco location, this is not a problem. I’m really disappointed in the service here. I can say with certainty that I will not be back at the Lefteris Gyro Tarrytown location. Again, I have never experience anything like this at the Mt. Kisco location. The food is still great, but the service needs a TON of work.

So good! I love that there is an online order option, it really alleviates the anxiety of having to go on the phone. Also, you get amazing food. Can it get any better?

On a random Wednesday night, you’re not going to find people crowded outside waiting to get a table… in Tarrytown. But we did! And the crowd wasn’t misleading, this is simply an awesome little restaurant. We had to have Greek food last night and decided to try this place. We didn’t have anything fancy — just some chicken gyros, a couple of bottles of Mythos. But I haven’t had such a nice dining experience in a long time. It felt really familiar and warm. Outdoor and indoor seating(we sat outside on a windy night, and it wasnt cold because of the way they’ve arranged the tables). The owner was talking to the customers like we were long lost friends. The staff is funny and attentive. The food made it to our table in minutes and was delicious. Best of all, we now know the story about why the sign above the window had to be changed after 16 years. Loved it. Can’t wait to make it back.

I would order appetizers only, they truly were delicious! Great grape leaves and pita pizza! Main entrée was bizarre– falafel and gyro platter was fries/rice and meat only. No veggies or pita. Stick to appetizers!

The Ambience: We sat outside and the weather was nice so it was great, save the loud sounds of roaring cars and trucks passing by on the street. The Food: We all ordered gyros and portions were large enough, food tasted fine, but did not leave a lasting impression nor the feeling that we would rush back soon to try other dishes. Overall, it’s a fine place if you are hankering for a bit a Greek.

Update, so I don’t think that my review was that bad, I complimented them on the food and all, but then I got this rude message from someone who obviously works there– click on the picture to see full message

Had the chicken gyro and fries — fresh, fast and delicious! The chicken gyro was $ 7.95 which I thought was a good deal, but the steak fries were 3.95, which I didn’t think it was worth it for the price, since they don’t give you very much.

Whenever my Greek friend brings me to a Greek restaurant, I expect an amazing meal. I want my tzatziki to be creamy and tart, my hummus to be freshly ground and my dolmades to be hand rolled like in the old days. I expect to see someone’s grandmother with olive oil stains on her shirt and feta cheese in her hair rolling out pita dough all day long. Sadly, my fantasy ends here. I arrived at Lefteris Gyro with 4 friends on a rainy Saturday in April around 12:30pm. When we walked in, we noticed that every table was full, people were happily eating and the place was fairly tiny with only about 10 – 15 tables. Thankfully, there was one table left in the back corner that we were immediately escorted to less than a minute after arriving. About 3 minutes after 4 out of 5 of us sat down, a man came over for our order. Nicole(the Greek one) mentioned that we just sat down and one of us was in the bathroom. After he insisted on taking our order anyway, we shooed him away to look over the menu. It seemed like he was in a big rush to get us in and get us out. We ordered 2 appetizers: The Foursome: 3 out of the 4 were very tasty. The tzatziki was runny and overly garlicy Appetizer Medley: Lots of deep fried foods. Nothing spectacular. For lunch, 2 of my friends shared the aegean platter, 1 had the chicken gyro in pita, 1 had a chicken stick with pita and I had a large Greek salad. I didn’t hear much about the platter or chicken stick, but I did hear that the gyro was nothing great. Nicole assumed the meat was frozen before cooking. She also was dissatisfied with the the dolmades. Authentic Greek restaurants should be making their own and not getting them out of a can. As for the salad, which was my main meal, it was drenched in a very vinegary dressing. The lettuce they used tasted like random vegetable ends and were rough and hard to swallow. The potion sizes were very large, but taste beats size any day of the week… unless you… forget it. The best part of the meal was watching the helicopter mom at the table next to us who was chewing off the ends of her french fries, sucking out the soft potato inside and feeding it to her baby. Good work mom. Sorry Lefteris, I won’t be back.

The Food: Larger portions of desent food, but the tuna that we had was tough and gamey. It was not that enjoyable so I would definitely not order that again here. Seems like the beef being ordered by others was better. By way of comparison, I just had tuna in a sandwich at the Oyster Bar in NYC and it was so good and not overcooked at all. And the Oyster bar lunch is less tha $ 11. It really put this place to shame in terms of the tuna. A Greek friend who was with me ordered a spinach item in filo dough, and noted that it didn’t have much spinach in it. It could have been better. The Venue: The place is very small, and our server was really rushing us to order. It made it kind of uncomfortable. The place is small, so you are going to inevitably feel rushed as they want to turn the tables over. This has much more of a diner feel than a restaurant. The server was not really helpful, but rather just took your order and brought your bill. If I remember right it had checkered plastic table cloths, something like that. We tried to talk to the the older guy, probably the owner and he really didn’t seem to want to talk. It wasn’t really that welcoming. So it’s a bit impersonal once you are seated. They do have outdoor seating on the main strip in tarrytown if you want to sit in the sun, but I caution that you will likely feel rushed as they do seem to want to turn the tables over. Parking: Street parking is based on meters. There were two meters that we tried across the street and both were not working. We couldn’t enjoy the meal while we had to keep checking on our car. Overall — kind of 3 to 4 stars if you are okay with a diner feel. I am rounding up to four stars because the portions were on the larger size.

For a quick fix this place is just okay. It could be so much better. 1. They don’t use yogurt in their tzatziki sauce. They use sour cream and you can absolutely taste the difference 2. Their Greek salad is not traditional but that’s fine because the dressing is delicious, if they would only crumble the feta and use a bit more lettuce 3. The chicken is so dry we’ve ordered several different dishes and have never gotten around this.

Let me first get the limited criticism out of the way. This place is super small. It’s crowded and cramped. And sometimes the service seems rushed, impersonal, and indifferent. But there are three reasons why we’ll happily brush those downsides aside. 1) They have the best vegetable soup I have ever had in my life. Not a by a little; by a LOT. If I was about to be executed was given my last meal request, I would ask for vegetable soup from Lefteris. If you don’t like their vegetable soup, chances are you’re a bad person. 2) Once we went in there with a small baby. We were tired, and we probably looked it. With hardly a word(and yet totally with our permission), the host took the baby from us, and carried him around for the next 20 minutes. To actually be able to sit down like human beings, catch our breath, and have a moment of relief was beyond amazing. No lack of touchy-feely service since could ever take away that precious memory and our appreciation to Lefteris for the compassionate gesture. 3) Their Greek Dressing is legendary. It must be made using the same narcotic magic that goes into the vegetable soup. When we lived outside NY for several years we would have it shipped to us. And when we served it to dinner guests, they would often start importing it. It’s affordable. It’s a Tarrytown institution. Unless you hate food and life, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

I quickly served meal, of pretty very good Greek food. So much more than just gyros. If you order a Greek salad off the menu, what you get will be enormous. If you order a gyro platter, you’ll start with a small salad. Great taziki sauce, & I recommend you order whole wheat pitas. Note both red and green Tabasco sauce are on every table!

Oh man, we came here on a Friday night before heading to Horeseman’s Hollow in Sleepy Hollow. I have never seen a place so incredibly packed in my entire life. It doesn’ thave much by way of ambiance, it’s a true classic diner — loud, cramped, bustling. But that’s part of the charm, I would argue. FYI, if you order the greek salad(and you totally should) it comes in a literal mixing bowl. Like a legit giant metal mixing bowl. Worth it, but don’t think you won’t be taking that home with you. The lamb souvlaki comes in a fluffy giant pita with half a chopped lettuce head and some tomatoes and white sauce. The lamb was perfectly cooked, like divinely juicy and flavorful. But honestly, the gyro is the way to go. It is the pure definition of a gyro. Juicy, spiced perfectly, sliced just thick enough, nestled inside a fluffy pita with all the trappings. Coming from the Greekest neighborhood in NYC, this place is legit. Also their french fries. holy moley. My only beef was the server fed us a BS line that the pipes were being flushed so they couldn’t give us water or tea. So we all ordered a beer. Maybe 10 minutes later he was like, «You can have some water now.» [major eye roll]. Don’t let them pull that stunt on you.
