Well placed for passers by to stop and pay respects to World War I veterans of Tarrytown. Although Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow is best known for the tales of a Headless Horseman there’s much history here related to its veterans. Although the monument may be moderate in size it is done extremely well and is worth visiting after having a meal at a local restaurant or going to and from the famed Sleepy Hollow cemetery and Church. With the significant shade the trees provide it would seem reasonable for the city to place a bench or two beside the monument so locals could enjoy a coffee or lunch outside while remembering those they will never met but gave so much for them.
