Almost three years ago, I received a letter from my hairdresser of 25 years, announcing her retirement. I had followed Jan from salon to salon, through wash and wear hair, layers, no layers, to my wavy bob. I was shocked at the news, to say the least. And I had no idea of how to find my next hairdresser. All I knew was that I wanted to go to something that would work with my naturally wavy/curly hair, so I researched and read reviews for various hairdressers within a half hour drive from my house. That’s how I found Stephanie. I read a comment on her website: «I work best with down to earth(real) people. I am the same.» She had me at that line, so I called and scheduled a consultation. At the consultation, she asked if she could work with my hair a little, at no charge. I instantly trusted her and said«Yes»(I have only done that once before with a hairdresser). Both times, I had good instincts. Over the last 2 ½ years, Stephanie has taken me from that wavy bob to my current shoulder length naturally curly hair. She improved on the color formula that my former hairdresser was nice enough to give me on our last visit; I get so many compliments on the cut and color! Not only has Stephanie become my hairdresser(I will be going to her until she stops cutting hair), she has become a good friend as well. She is not only an expert at what she does, she is a warm and positive person who is instantly likeable. Note: If you like a trendy salon where you dress up to get your hair and nails done, this is not the place. If you prefer an unpretentious salon where you can come as you are, this is your place.

My friend and I bought a package that one stylist from Head to Toe participated in, in which you make monthly payments to get«free» services and discounts on salon services. She is under the listing, Hair by Surey at this salons location. We made an appointment with her for both of us which she canceled and then rescheduled on a day we both could not make it.(It was suppose to be a «girls day»). I called to reschedule the appointments, she didn’t even have any appointment written down for us so it was more like making a whole new appointment and even then she did not take down any of my information just hung the phone up on me with a quick«ok call me that morning to confirm» click. Not wanting to be a pest, but trying to be diligent, I had to call her back a few times trying to make sure that the services were free, that we were in fact going to get what was promised and trying to confirm the timeline. I felt like a pain in the butt that as the customer I was having to nag at her to get this information. That should have been my first warning that this lack of professionalism was going to lead to further problems. We got to our appointment. Immediately she asked which one of us was going to get the color. On the phone she had told me one of us was going to get a color. We never at all told her that we were going to get a color. We figured she just must have confused us with someone else. I corrected her on the phone before we even went in, so it was odd that even though i had straightened that out with her not a couple hours before we showed up she was still insisting and saying she expected to do a color on one of us. While my friend used the restroom she took a look at my hair. She told me that there would be an extra $ 15.00 charge for my hair because of the length. Having had long hair my whole life i MORE than expect that my hair will always be more because of the length. However, I just had my hair cut to just below my shoulder blades which is still long but not considered very long hair. I told her that on the phone we discussed it was free and she immediately said that she had previously told me that there would be a fee range for long hair and that i had been okay with it and even agreed with her… WHAT?! This conversation(like the conversation about having a color) never occurred. If she had instead said«I forgot to mention there will be an additional $ 15.00 charge) I would have been okay with it. But putting words in my mouth and telling me I participated in a conversation that never happened is unacceptable. Not to mention how unprofessional everything was before that point. My friend still went ahead with her treatment because hers really was going to be free because she has a bob length hair. She asked what constitutes long hair and the stylist touched her at her shoulder and said anything past here. So… pretty much everyone would have long hair in this stylists book. The salon itself looked nice. I saw good reviews for someone named Stephanie so I hate that this review might negatively impact the salon but you are the company you keep. The stylist we had a problem with WASNOTSTEPHANIE. This stylist has great reviews and should not be negatively impacted by this review. This experience put a bad taste in our mouths when it comes to this establishment especially since the stylists claimed she had worked there over 15 years, I can’t believe this kind of unprofessionalism would be acceptable… hopefully we just caught her on a bad day, though we had trouble with her over the phone all week. Furthermore she added insult to injury by telling my friend something like, they probably assumed since you were on a college campus when you bought it that you were smart enough to read something before you signed it; when my friend expressed that the package deal was misleading when presented to her. Ouch. In print the services my friend was suppose to receive were listed, she did not receive all of these from this stylist, therefore it was misleading. She will now have to call the company who issues these package deals to complain about that matter.

Stephanie is a hair artist. How she can turn my fine/limp hair into a masterpiece that people often marvel over is nothing less than magic. She’s also has an amazing energy about her and the salon itself is warm and inviting. I typically refer my friends to her for color or color correction.

I have been going there for years. There are several different services offered. They have one person for nails and he is truly an artist. One body waxer that i am aware of and she is very professional and does beautiful work. As for the hair stylists they have several. I have been with mine for years and i have loved every hair cut & color i have received there.

My Favorite Salon! I have been with the stylists at Head to Toe for 8 years. I am a brunet, and I have in the past had Shazy Q hair dye, extensions, and now I have had highlights for the last year. I have been around the block with salons, and I only go to the finest in their industry with competitive pricing. I have and regularly see 5 of the beauticians and they are all great, and good pricing. A little honesty about their team: I see Varvara(I was going on my honeymoon the next day, and she came in at 8:30pm at night just to wax me… she is my favorite! AND I never have a hair on my body… my husband loves when I go) for a Brazilian ever 6 weeks Stephanie for my curly hair cut(Steph is a doll… always cheerful with lots of energy-I have had long and short hair since I have been coming to Steph) Ash for massages(really good, and affordable, plus relaxing) David(excellent pricing and he is fast and efficient) for french and regular mani and pedi Sarah(a sweetheart and will come in early or late just to do my hair for an event) for extensions(the best I have ever had) and a blow dry/flip bottom/up-do. I was reading about their products below, and I have always liked their products. In fact, a few weeks ago, I purchased a few Pureology products that I really like. AND Head to Tow ISTHECHEAPEST for Pureology. I have really curly hair, and I also straighten about one or twice a month. Don’t pass on the opportunity to make this your beauty secret home… I have made it mine for a long time.

My friend referred me to Head to Toe Salon. But I would not recommend this salon to any of my friends after my experience. I brought in 4 clip outs of how I wanted my hair colored and the stylist she didn’t know how to do it! She actually asked me!(All I wanted was to make my dirty blond hair blonder!) Then she preceded to tell me, «I know what you want» and gave me a head full of highlights. Which was not what I wanted. The products she used were satisfactory and left my hair stiff and dry Then she charged me ridiculously. Trying to stay positive I said to myself, at least the cut is cute! Then my mom found a chunk on the right side an inch longer than the left :(
