I want to warn you that from my experience Alan Licht DDS is a terrible orthodontist. He pulled teeth which later I learned were unnecessary for my situation. I was 30 at the time when I was told I needed braces to correct my TMJ. Three years later when he took off the braces my top teeth jutted at a backward angle. I was shocked that this was his finished work. His excuse was that this was the best that could be done due to my age. 7 years later another dentist told me I still had TMJ because my top teeth pushed my lower jaw backwards. I was furious and had to have orthodontic again at age 40. After another 3 years my top teeth look normal and don’t push my bottom teeth backwards. I get many compliments about my smile but I have all these wrinkles around my mouth. This I learned was due to the teeth extraction which diminished my jaw size. So after all that money and time I’m left with a wrinkled mouth making my face look so much older than it should. This is quite depressing to me. Dr. Alan Light had a sweet demeanor and gentle personality which fooled me to think he was a skillful orthodontist. For years I have warned all my valley friends to stay clear of him. I wish I thought to put this warning out on Unilocal years ago! LC

Wow! I’m really surprise to be the first to write a review! I found Dr. Licht through my dentist Dr. Forrest in Woodland Hills, who is AMAZING and I found on Unilocal.Seriously, total score… but back to this review. So I’m an adult who had braces as a teen and since not wearing my retainer I’ve ended up with some crowding on my lower teeth. Not a huge deal at all, but being an actor, I was unwilling to get full braces again to fix something that I find pretty mild yet I was curious to find out what it would take to fix the problem and what procedures would work. I was so impressed with Dr. Licht(which is pronounced«Light» and totally fits his personality). What a kind hearted person! He was so impressively professional and really knew his stuff. He was not willing to sugar-coat what I would need to fix my teeth and was honest about how successful the procedure would be if I was unwilling to have full braces. He offered up a realistic solution of a retainer which I could remove when I needed to. Hey, I’m an adult here. I need to find what fits with my lifestyle if I’m going to do this. He totally understood that and gave me options. Earlier that day I had a consultation with another ortho in the area. What a difference! This woman barely looked at my teeth, told me she could only do full metal braces, and if I just wanted to fix the top(probably impossible without adjusting the top slightly too) then she would want to pull a tooth. Ah, hello, the idea is to make my teeth look better, not worse! Anyway, that appointment only served to make Dr. Licht seem more trustworthy, informed, knowledgeable and passionate about his career. Clearly he’s been doing this for a long time, but didn’t seem route or bored by his job. Anway, I still haven’t decided if I’m going for it, but I highly suggest when you’re consulting for an orthodontist you check out Dr. Licht. He’s a light!
