Oishi Japanese Restaurant

I’m not sure what happened or when, but my husband stopped by tonight 9÷22÷2015 to pick up some sushi to go… Oishi is CLOSED!!! A sign on the door indicates another (sushi) business will be coming to that location in 2016???

They no longer have the Korean BBQ short ribs on the menu. They have it marked out on the menu, but my husband looked over the menu on the website, looking forward to enjoy some short ribs, the website has not been updated I think this place may be in the process of a new owner, we saw some type of notice on the front of the door. I did not have the chance to confirm.
The location is very casual, my style, and located in a strip mall. The service was very friendly and the food was good. I had the Chicken Yaki Soba dinner which came with a side of salad and miso soup. The dinner was tasty, everything seemed to be fresh. I was a bit bummed, because they offered about 4 or 5 desserts and they were out of all of them.
I probably would give another star if they replaced their chairs. I was wearing shorts because of the warm weather. The chair lining was very warn so I when I stood after dinner I had speckle of remnants on the back of my thighs.

I only eat sashimi so I’m just reviewing on that and a few appetizers. I had the lunch AYCE and they pack on the rice on their sashimi. The fish was good, but the rice was terrible, it was hard and grainy, and good quality rice is very important for sushi, I only say that because i eat rice everyday so I am very picky about my rice I also ordered a few appetizers, The baked mussels were delicious, fried tofu — soggy, they put the sauce with the tofu, it should be served on the side to keep the tofu crispy. Udon was tasty, good balance of flavors. Their wasabi was mild, i prefer it hot.
Overall it was ok, maybe ill try their happy hour.

We love coming here for there rolls and noodles. Fast and friendly service!!!
Clean environment and excellent sushi.

Ok but nothing to write home about. Sort of expensive for the quality. Not much flavor and crab meat is not crab it is krab imitation but they are not ethical enough to spell it as imitation like other sushi places do as a moral code. They said if we want crab the price is double. Ok but no stars in my book and I am not being harsh, food wS that bad. I would swear my loaded jalapenos wet packed with refried beans rather than spicy tuna. We took it out with a fork and both agreed it was not tuna

Oishi is my favorite sushi restaurant in Temecula. The sushi is delicious with amazingly fresh fish. The staff is what makes this place worth the trip. They cater to your every need and truly care about your experience. If you’re looking for a great sushi joint with a fun atmosphere and amazing staff, this is your place.

I got sick after eating here. My food was not the best. I probably won’t go back. I don’t feel like their fish was fresh enough.

Came here after finding out that their AYCE sushi was $ 17.95 for lunch. In general their prices for that would be about $ 20+. I like their creative sushi rolls, especially when it came down to the salmon and avocado… however their rolls didn’t taste as good as I hoped for it to be.
Their sushi had a lot of rice, and didn’t really have the taste of that authentic sushi vinegar… Overall, I liked how they have sashimi salad, seaweed salad, and even udon as a choice under their AYCE menu.

The best sushi I’ve had in Temecula thus far :) The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I really like their spicy mayo and eel sauce, which I believe they put on all of the rolls. I got a fried roll this time, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The pieces are a little bigger than I’m used to, but they were just as enjoyable in bites as they are whole.

Check your bill. We split a bill, giving $ 51 cash and putting the rest on the card. They credited us $ 31 cash, then credited my card $ 20, rather than giving me cash. In any business, it’s the details that matter. Had I not noticed, someone would have received a fat tip, whether it was intentional or not.
The 50% off deal is a joke. They say it’s 50% off of their competitors. I don’t know who they’re trying to convince that sushi is $ 16 for two pieces at other non high-​end restaurants. If you’ve never eaten sushi before, I guess you might fall for it.
The sushi itself is very average. It is presented poorly and crumbles. It tastes good, but isn’t impressive. I guess when you’re 50% off of an imaginary restaurant across town, you can afford to have less impressive sushi.
I did all you can eat and with only 2 waitresses during their rush hour, taking orders, seating guests and messing up their bills, it leads to a lot of downtime in between orders, which makes you full faster and leads to a less valuable AYCE experience.
I haven’t tried a whole lot of sushi in Temecula or Murrieta, but I’d much rather go to One Sushi off of Murrieta hot springs than this place.

How does this place have four stars? This place is a joke.
I specifically decided to eat here because it has a four star Unilocal rating. After I dined here, I didn’t see how anyone would give this place a four star rating.
They have a Unilocal check-​in offer for 50% off all sushi and rolls. This is false advertising because their rolls are «50% off» all the time and you don’t need to check-​in to receive the deal. The prices listed on the order list are already what they consider «50% off». Sushi is around $ 8 for two pieces and rolls are around $ 12 – 15. I have been to sushi restaurants all over Southern California and it is rare to see sushi cost more than $ 8, which is apparently what Oishi would charge if they didn’t have the 50% off special, and the only time I have seen a roll cost $ 24 – 30 is at a high-​end restaurant. This would be believable if they served high quality food, but their food is mediocre, at best.
I cannot believe that this place can get away with claiming to offer great prices. I checked the menus of other sushi restaurants in Temecula and their prices are around what Oishi charges without claiming to offer half-​off. If they want to say that their food is half the prices of competitors’, they should show a comparison with a competitors’ menu as proof.

Best sushi we have found in the Temecula area. The fish is FRESH, the rolls are unique and delicious, and the atmosphere was great — it feels like you’re at nice sushi restaurant by the beach when you are inside. The service was also great.
There’s no «all you can eat», but in my opinion that is a good thing. Quality over quantity. I’ve seen many good sushi places go downhill once they give in to the all you can eat menu plan.
This is my new sushi restaurant in town… I highly recommend you try it.

My kids and I brought my mom here for her birthday dinner a few nights ago. Being new to town we had to rely on Unilocal to find a good Japanese spot and… this was alright.
First I’ll say that the service was great. Attentive and helpful. It’s a small restaurant and there wasn’t anybody else here because it was a bit early.
Our table ordered 2 teriyaki chicken dinners and a beef teriyaki. The soup was good, the salad dressing was delicious and the rice was perfect. The chicken eaters also said the meat was great.
I ordered the beef teriyaki and the meat was pretty gross. There was nothing tender about it and I could tell the quality wasn’t there at all! Panda Expresses Angus steak truly tastes better. And the teriyaki sauce, while alright, really lacked flavor.
Bottom line, we will keep looking for good Japanese in Temecula.
