«Like a Rootbeer Cowboy… like a feller on a horse in a star spangled ro-de-o.» Why oh why am I singing a modified«Rhinestone Cowboy» song? Because I put the Danziesen Rootbeer milk in my Cowboy coffee that’s why. It’s like a highly caffeinated and well sugared Arizona baptism of a new day. Why is this little Milk n More — sorta convenience store attached to the Arizona Dairyman’s plant — garnering a five star review? 1. There’s Milk! The plant behind sends trucks out several times a day to local dairies. Yes, all those cows you’ve seen(if you’re driving a bit south, usually) aren’t just sunbathing. Several local milks are carried in this here store. 2, One of the better known local creameries — Danziesen — uses glass bottles(thank goodness! I love this) and creates many unique flavors like«Creamsicle» and yep«Rootbeer!» The Mocha is delicious and I’ve yet to get Strawberry. Can’t wait, actually! The flavored milks are 2% but I swear they’re like cream(I’m a devout skim drinker so the specialty milk is a treat.) 3. And there’s More. Curds! Jalapeño and regular — made on site, every Thursday. Arrive between 1230 and 1PM and you might just score a sample of the freshest curd. They also sell a curd batter so you can deep fry ‘em if you desire. 4. Even more convenience store type items are offered here for example: hot soup and chili, sodas, monster drinks, milk t-shirts, candy etc.(Note, you can get the Danziesen milk at Milk n More, but you I went here for the ROC cowboy beans: ) 5. I think that the«more» feature that puts the store over the top has to be one of the employees, Denise, who welcomed us, told us all about the plant and local creameries, as well as how the curds are made and basically made us feel like we were regulars there all our lives. You can’t beat a friendly, knowledgeable employee who is passionate about her work! It was also cool to have one of the younger plant workers come in while Denise was pointing out the curd machine in the photo up by the cash register and the young man pointed to the photo and said«that’s my dad.» What a great family feel in this place. We’ll be back for more! More! PS — do I get any kind of award for not using any kind of milk pun in here? Curd it be? If not, not that’s udderly useless! Sing to me you rootbeer cowboy:

Milk n More is THE resource for all things local dairy! This small shop is located right in front of the enormous dairy plant in Tempe and is a great place for the people working at the plant(and other cheese enthusiasts like myself) to grab fresh milk, cheese, butter or a snack. The customer service is friendly and genuine making this a fun and easy shopping trip. They carry locally made butter, cheese, cheese curds, and milk as well as what you’d typically see in a general store like ready made sandwiches, snacks, drinks, sodas, etc. What I like to come here for is the Danzeisen milk which comes in your standard whole, 1% and 2% as well as flavors like strawberry, chocolate, orange and mocha(definitely try this one!). Danzeisen is special because as far as I know, it’s the only single source dairy in the Phoenix area. This means that all of milk that they produce comes from their farm and their farm only unlike other milk producers that source their milk from a variety of farms meaning that your one bottle of milk could have come from five or six different dairies. My only complaint is the confusion on their bottle return policy. I brought in an empty Danzeisen dairy bottle to get a refund on a new bottle of milk and was charged $ 2(instead of discounted) for bringing the bottle in. After looking at my receipt after I’d left, I called the store back to have them clarify their policy. The woman I spoke to said that it was their policy to charge for the bottle and then refund it back to me when I brought it back. WHAT? So I’m charged for the bottle that I brought in? Either their policy changed(I exchanged a bottle and received a refund from them about 3 months ago), or there’s something I’m not understanding about the policy. Either way, I hope they clear it up because I’d rather spend my milk money(heh) here than at a Whole Foods, but I know that Whole Foods for sure gives me the bottle refund without any confusion. Policy or not, I’ll still be back for the ‘n more parts of the store(i.e. fresh cheese curds).

Fresh local milk? And cheese curds? This place can’t be missed! I first saw this place on the news because they carry Danizien farms(that’s definitely not how they spell it, but just go with me here) and I knew I had to stop on my way home. The milk is… Clean tasting? It’s so good! I had to get a strawberry also… Which is amazing. I will say the price is kind of expensive. I think I spent 10 dollars on milk the first time, and then came back with the bottles for the deposit, and it was still 8 bucks!

A little convenience store built into the front of the dairy processing plant owned by the Arizona Dairy Association on Broadway. I stop in on the way home and they have great prices on fresh milk and eggs, great pepperjack cheese, made at the plant and, when they have it cut and packaged, the European butter is to die for so I hope that returns in the next few weeks. I’ve never gone on Thursday for fresh cheese curds but the lady at the register says it was worth a visit to get them fresh. Oh, and if you brew beer, easy place to stop by and pick up a few gallons of purified water because if you are going to eat some cheese, especially fresh cheese curds, you need to have some homemade beer to go with it, just sayin’

A store that specializes in cheese curds doesn’t have any? Well, they had bags of jalapeño cheese curds($ 5.99 and less), but regular cheese curds were non-existent. Apparently, I need to return on Thursday’s when cheese curd production is higher and they fill all their Costco orders or some explanation similiar. There is a giant cheese/milk production facility right behind your store and you can’t make some more curds or make some more cheese that makes more curds available. This is basically a waste of a store. It seems to serve as a sort of a Circle K for the white coated and masked milk employees milling around at the corner of Hardy and Broadway. Ended up buying $ 2 worth of jalapeño curds, but they could do alot more with this place than serve grab and go crap like a convenience store.

I love coming here on Thursdays because of the fresh cheese curds. My step-dad got me started on them when I was young and the fact I can get them in Arizona is apart of the reason why I am giving them 5 stars. When they get different flavors and the yellow cheese curds ill be even more excited. For some bizarre reason I have had to turn down the power when I put them through the microwave because it was popping and making weird flashes if it had the microwave on the regular 10 power level. The customer service here is always absolutely awesome. I always tend to chit chat with the same lady I always see here. My step dad makes me go pick up the fresh cheese curds Thursday and then bring them up on the weekend to flagstaff for him when I decide to make a trip. That is how good these are, my step-dad will settle for these since this is the closest cheese curds he can get to Wisconsin curds we are used too. The cheddar cheese is awesome and so is the fresh milk. So Good!!!

Like other users have stated you can get Cheese Curds here. Delicious, unicorn-like freshly-made cheese curds! I’ve had Wisconsin cheese curds, which are basically«young»(see: not aged) cheddar. They are supposedly the world’s greatest and these are right up there with them. They also sell some cheap milk and many other goodies, considering the dairy factory is right behind this place. I hope everyone in Tempe can visit this location, as some of what they have here are things that require loads of special equipment to make. Not every city has it’s own specialty dairy store, you know.

I finally made it to the Milk ‘n More Store and I found out they have extended their hours. They are now open on Saturdays. Score for all you regular workday fans! Cheese curds are $ 5.50/lb in individual-sized bags or get a larger bag for $ 5.50. I think it is 24 oz! They also sell European style sweet cream butter. So, you know I will be making cornbread muffins. :). Unfortunately, they also sell stress balls in the shape of cows for $ 5.35 each(and up). My daughter had to have the cow with the barbecue gear and the milking cow so… yeah… my cheese curd and butter tab skyrocketed to just under $ 26. Still, it was way worth it. Those curds are so squeaky! Yes, they also sell their plain curds at Costco. However, you may notice your expiration date on the Costco curds is about 4 weeks out. The ones I got at MnM were more than 8 weeks out and they were made only three days prior to me purchasing them. Here’s a tip: Microwave the curds for about 3 – 4 seconds in the microwave. They don’t get warm, but they do regain their squeak! Thank you MnM for raising my cholesterol. :) Don’t forget to bring cash! Oh… and if you want the Jalapeño curds(you do) and you don’t see any… don’t be afraid to ask. It can’t hurt. They are willing to check in the back for you. At least, they were for me!

Cheese Curds! They have been so hard to find in AZ. Like the Jalepeno ones too. Really good fresh milk. Worth the stop. Bring cash, not credit or debit cards

Unique little store specializing in fresh dairy goods from local AZ dairies. I first heard about this store from a guy at the Roadrunner park Saturday Market giving away free sample of cheese curds. I was in Tempe today, so I decided to stop by and grab some cheese curds. They are great! And, a coworker from WI gives them a thumbs up approval! Cool place to check out. It can be a bit hard to find, it is on the SW corner of Hardy and Broadway. You drive through a gate to the parking lot, then you’ll see the store on the left. Also, CASHONLY

So last week before heading to Arizona some fellow Unilocalers and I were having a conversation about cheese curds. Most of us had seen«squeakers» on the foodie networks/shows or seen them at Trader Joe like places but our overall consensus was that they were virtually non existent in San Jose/Central Coast(Santa Cruz). So imagine my surprise day one of our«Arizona UYE» trip we find Cheese Curds in Arizona at the Scottsdale Farmer’s Market… I cannot find cheese curds at my farmers markets back home… lucky bastards. So I immediately call Linda L with the exciting news and yes. there are some Cheese Curds in our fridge which will being making the trip back home with us. They sell at select farmers markets as well as the address above. The plain cheddar was good. the jalapeño curds were bomb!
