Sumits Yoga Tempe

I was really torn between a 2 and 3 star on this, and went with the 3 because a lot of it is personal preference.
The Good: Cute studio in a central location, plenty of parking, very friendly and welcoming instructors, nice and hot (103 degrees and 65% humidity), flexible hours, evening classes not crowded.
The Bad: Incredibly loud techno was played the whole class and the instructor was yelling over the music. I couldn’t hear the poses and it was more like a cardio fitness class than yoga. They cram an 80-​minute class into 60 minutes, so very fast transitions, so you don’t get the full access to deep connective tissue that you typically get in a hot yoga class. Also, all classes are the exact same, no variation or other options, which is a huge downside.
For my part, I appreciated the friendliness of the instructors, but I won’t be back. If you want to sweat a lot and get some cardio for an hour, this would be a good fit.

Tried this studio for the first time recently & was super impressed! It has a very warm, inviting & friendly atmosphere! The 1hr hot yoga classes are the perfect length to refresh & re-​energize the body & mind. The instructor was fantastic as well! I will definitely come back on a regular basis! I highly recommend for all levels!

Great class and instructors are really nice. Just wish the place was dim lit the entire time. Big glass window and is super bright during the day, not necessarily «relaxing.»

Yoga is a regular part of my routine! I try to fit it in at least 3 days a week!

Hot Yoga at its best. After moving to Tempe I was elated to see a Sumits opening right down the street (they are on McClintock and University under The Improv). The studio is compact with a great urban vibe and just fantastic instructors and friendly yogis. Parking is really easy for the area and the studio space is well laid out; it heats/​cools quickly so the instructors have great control over the environment. Two thumbs up.
