We’re so glad they opened back up after a long hiatus. This place has some of the best ribs I have ever eaten, and I’ve eaten my share of ribs around the country. Their beans and potatoes salad are also top notch.

All I have to say is TRASHCANPLATE! I’ve moved away from Temple and that«trash can plate» its definitely one of the main reasons I miss Temple! But aside from that the meat is definitely of quality, and The people that work there won’t try to gip you!

Now, I’ve only been here once so far(that will soon change), but take my review for what it’s worth. My companion first heard of this place through co-workers and ate there for lunch. He raved about it and now it made me curious to try it as well. When he brought me here, I was seriously thinking… wtf? This place looked janky as hell and a bit sketchy. But, what’s the ol’ adage? «Never judge a book by its cover» … right. I gave a side-eyed glare to my companion, and he tells me, «just trust me.» Fine, in we go. Place was small with limited seating. There was already a family eating at one of the benches and another family ordering ahead of us; which I figured would occupy the other side of the bench. That’s ok, I was kind of intimidated by the burly-looking men staring at me with a serious expression behind the refrigerated raw meat showcase anyway. I’ll just take my food to go, please. At least the friendly young man at the cash register was the only one smiling, which put me at ease. I ordered the combo plate with brisket and sausage. I think they called it a trash plate? Didn’t sound too appealing, but it was somewhat fitting given the appearance of the building(an old converted gas station). It included: two slices of bread, potato salad, beans, and raw onion slices — all for around $ 10. What a deal! Driving home, I was salivating from the wonderful BBQ aroma. Hope it tastes as good as it smells, I wondered. Finally arrived home and dug in. Hot diggity damn! Everything tasted GUUUD!(YouTube BarbecueWeb aka BBQ Pit Boys to hear that expression for effect). I’m a Shoepf’s BBQ kinda girl, but this is definitely comparable; cheaper, and maybe a bit better. I dunno. I’m going to have to keep coming back for more of a fair analysis; with my companion to hide behind, of course. Anyway, why haven’t I ever heard of this place before?! And, I’ve been living here for about 7 years. Must either be word-of-mouth, a best kept secret, or just poor advertising. Well, I’m glad to be now, in-the-know. It definitely is a hidden gem.

I stopped in today to get some lunch and meat for dinner. The guys behind the counter were not friendly at all, but the young man serving the prepared food was very polite. The raw meat was overpriced but lunch was good. The trash cup was delicious!

I don’t know how long this place has been around, but I only noticed it recently, and today I finally decided to stop in and give it a try. I was really very pleasantly surprised. I got a combo plate with brisket, ribs and sausage to cover the basics. The brisket was cut from the leaner end, but still very juicy and tender. The smoke was absolutely perfect, not too strong, just really delicious. The ribs were just the right texture, not falling apart, but easy nibbled off the bone in juicy bites. The sausage had a nice balance, not too fatty, and not dry. Everything was smoked to perfection. Maybe I just hit it on a good day, but ithe plate I had definitely blows away anything in Temple. The only brisket that comes close in the area is Miller’s in Belton, but I give BQM a slight edge. Ribs come close to those at Schoepf’s on their better days. The beans and mustard potato salad sides were also good, particularly the beans. The price was also very reasonable for the quality of meat. I’ll definitely be going back soon. The décor isn’t much to brag about, but I’m really excited to finally have a quality barbecue option in Temple. One of the best kept secrets in town.

It’s garage station BBQ, and if you’re not careful — you’ll drive right by it. Not a lot of space inside, may hold about 10 – 15 at the most, but it’s like a convenient store /deli /BBQ joint. The prices are extremely reasonable, they have a plate either called the trash can, or the garbage plate. Not sure what it is, but sounds interesting. Now to the BBQ: it’s pretty good, not the best, but good enough. It’s not well seasoned, a bit on the bland side, and that’s why they have seasoned salt on the table — cuz you’re going to need it. But the highlight that makes this place a solid 4 stars in their sausage. They make it in-house, they have several flavors for sale(in the deli), and the cooked sausage they sell is really good. The sausage sandwich is popular. They also have several BBQ sauces in a bottle that you can buy, about $ 7 per. I bought one — it was a bit on the runny side, not what I expected, but there’s a habanero sauce that tastes really good — I’d go for that. Garage station BBQ w/that nice hometown Temple feel — — it’s definitely one of a kind, and the sausage here rocks!

Whether you’re buying fresh meat to prepare yourself at home, or stopping in for lunch, Best Quality is truly that; Best in Temple. Let them marinate your steaks for you while you wait. Stop in for lunch and order the roast ½ chicken! I manage to get through about half of the breast then take the rest home. The roasted bones make for a fantastic homemade stock afterwards. Consistently beautiful quality all the way around; best beef briskets, best pork loins, wonderful bacon and fantastic chicken. If you’re buying meat for a backyard barbecue, shop for it here. Anywhere else is just disappointing. Small, in-house dining is available around lunchtime. It’s a bit too cozy for my general liking, but one bite and I no longer care about my proximity to someone else eating nearby or standing in line to purchase meat. They also cater events, and my office has had them cater a ginormous event a couple of times — it was seamless and fantabulous.
