Sal’s looks very clean and has a friendly staff that makes it very inviting. But unfortunately I could only give it 2 stars because they could not get my order right. It is good eats but if you cannot get the order right it’s not worth my time.

In my world, 3 stars automatically goes to a place that prominently features a build-your-own-salad. Another star stops by when the salad ingredients and dressings are fresh and flavorful. One more star makes 5 when that mixed greens salad you created is a LARGE and it comes in at under $ 8. Nowhere on the NY side of the Hudson can do all that with salad at that price. And if I’m proven wrong, it won’t come with friendly service. And that Boylan’s Soda fountain makes Sal’s Good Eats a Jersey legend. One day I’ll stray away and dig in on their entrees but not yesterday, today or anytime soon. And I’m OK with that. I can only hope any plans for another location takes them to Cliffside Park, Edgewater or Fort Lee. places sorely needing Sal and his Good Eats gang.

Perfect sandwich! In an area with few options for easy and quick food, Sal’s is a rockstar standout. Good people, and good eats.

Place is awesome. Huge variety of food and prices are good. Come here pretty often for lunch. Only issue I really have is the person working the salad. Don’t know what her deal is but she’s always giving me an attitude like she doesn’t want to be there.

BESTPLACEINTOWN! The owners are amazing and always SO friendly. The hostess, Jo, is great and she loves her job!!! Love that George… his smile will make your day! If I could go there everyday for lunch I would! Food is fresh, made to order and delicious. Overall I give this 5 stars. Prices are reasonable too!!!

Basing this off my first visit at their location at the gym… Awesome! I hesitated trying it because. well, I’m at the gym to work out, not eat. I grabbed sweet potato pancakes on the way out and I’m totally glad I did. Got three nicely sized pancakes for about $ 5 and they’re delicious. Definitely will go back and looking forward to trying other things…

Put in an order and after two hours… still a no show at the door from the Sal’s delivery guy. Called in, was hung up on the first after they put me on hold to check the order. Called in 2nd time and was put on hold again to go check if they made it…5 minutes go by on hold… finally come back to tell me they are making it now. No apology, nothing. Food is OK nothing special but a convenient place to order food at my work. Won’t be ordering from here again. Terrible staff taking care of the place.

Have only had the pick your own chopped salad twice and it was awesome. Fresh products and friendly staff. Only 4 stars because of limited seats at lunch.

The food is good. The salads are the best. I went in there at 3pm for a fresh«make your own» salad. Although, they close at 4pm, they had packed everything up and directed me to the pre-made salads. I didn’t give them 5 stars because I think it’s ridiculous to Not serve a customer when you have an hour left of service. I would be more understanding if they only had 30 minutes left before closing

I’ve been going to Sal’s for a couple years now and have had an amazing experience every time(20+ visits). The quality of the food and awesome service is apparent by the many regular diners here. I get the tuna melt and you can’t beat it for a filling meal at that price. I would suggest Sal’s to anyone for a great breakfast/lunch. Family owned too — you can’t beat it.

So from what I have heard and tasted the food is pretty good! I tried this the last time I was in the Humc fitness and wellness center and enjoyed it very much! I’m a build your own salad kind of a gal, and that’s what I had last time. I feel like they could include more choices to go into my $ 9 + salad, but that’s just me… I had a smoothie that was awesome and will be trying another one next time I’m there! All the hot entrees look amazing, it kind of makes me guilty to lust after all this glorious food after a hearty workout lol. Damn you sal’s stop with that frigin temptation!!!

Very easy to order from online. I love the build your own salad option. Pair that with soup of the day and good to go. Everything is always fresh and delicious!

Sal’s is a nice place to come here to get a quick lunch to go, it looks much nicer and bigger inside than outside and it is always packed during the lunch hour. You can place the order ahead over the phone or on line so it can save you some time waiting in a line. What I like the most about this place is their fresh salad, you can build your own salad and dressing, they will then mix the ingredient and toss them for you. If you don’t have any meats(that cost extra) in your salad, it will be merely $ 6.6 for a large salad. You can ask them to give you sliced breads on the side, they are free, but sometimes their salad ladies will not ask if you want breads. If you don’t like salad, they have hot dish of the day that you can pick, just be careful not to get into the wrong line, I often see people look confused not to know which line is for salad and which is for hot dish, but their manager(a very nice lady) she is always checking and make sure you are in the right line. I have tried several kinds of their soups, what I like the most is their Maryland crab coup, it’s really good. It’s not provided daily though, so I always check their website to see what’s their daily specials are(they updated their daily special on line everyday), if they have Maryland crab soup that day, I will make sure I get there earlier before it ran out. I will warn you to stay away from the lobster bisque though, they have a funny smell and too creamy to swallow it.

I work in the area and this is a staple for people looking for a soup/salad/sandwich experience. Though it resides on a street in need of paving in an inauspicious building, the staff here are friendly and the food is fresh and tends towards the healthy side. Salads are made in front of you and tossed with home made dressings. A large variety of sandwiches, wraps and panninis are available and made fresh. Most people phone in an order for delivery or pick up on-site, but there are a few tables for those who want to take a moment and eat in. We recently placed a $ 400 order for 10 people without any advance notice and they worked hard to get us out the door in a reasonable time with all the food and everything we needed, such as napkins, paper ware, utensils and condiments. They even have a decent dessert selection and free delivery.

Im being generous. Ive been to sal’s on green st.(Look out for their sign) and had breakfast and it was decent. Came to the sals at my gym and had a grilled cheese that was good, although it took forever! Today, I had a $ 10(okay $ 9.40) small salad(chicken ceaser) and it was really, really not good. I blame it on the chicken. It felt like canned, bland chicken with way too much of a spice thrown on. For 9.40 I can get an enormous, delicious, real chicken, salad with a free water at Maywood Market. Sorry, sal’s. I wasn’t impressed. Ill def. Give another shot on other menu items since it is so convenient. Hope im not as disappointed.

I work nearby so this place is great from the get-go. The service is friendly and the food is always great and plentiful. I usually get the hot lunch as it is always fresh and easy. The atmosphere of the place is great, nice lighting, clean and hip. Every time I go there the owner would come by and say hi. She’s always around asking customers if they are enjoying their meal and a very pleasant woman. You would never know that this place would exist around an industrial park. Plenty of parking and huge spinning sign with a retro truck, you can miss it if you are on Green St.

Just had lunch here for the first time and sadly, I don’t think I’ll be returning. There are 9 people behind the counter and a manager on your side of the counter. I love good customer service but in this instance it felt over the top. I felt like I had an awkward audience while deciding what to order. I ordered a tuna melt which, like someone else’s review, is considered a panini and on bread so hard it’s practically inedible. Also the tuna was very fishy. My stomach started to bother me about half way through but the whole time I was eating the manager kept staring at me like i was doing something wrong and I honestly felt too uncomfortable to complain. That’s my fault that I didn’t say something but… it just wasn’t an enjoyable experience in all respects. Also, at $ 7 and change, it’s not a cheap tuna sandwich.

Sal gets it, he pays attention to detail which is a big deal for me, his place is decorated nice. To-go sandwiches come in a little box. The sandwiches are filled nice and not skimpy. Prices aren’t too bad. I had a chicken cutlet, fresh mozz and tomato, it was really good. I’m looking fwd to trying some other things from here.

3.5 stars for now, but I anticipate raising that rating soon. Awesome menu variety with reasonable prices. Our delivery order arrived at the time promised and was packaged to perfection with everything in separate packages(for example, pickles in their own little cup so you don’t have pickle juice on everything — those of you who order lunch delivery know that this is key). Really nice on the phone too. The food was good overall(not great, but good). The hot dishes did not arrive hot though — not even really luke warm. Quality ingredients, prepared exactly as requested. We’ll be giving it another try soon I’m sure.
