The tripas plate is my absolute favorite! Such an awesome portion, and the tripas are cooked just with the right amount of crispiness! Great taste for just the right price! It’s definitely a hidden gem within Texas city! Great spot for authentic Mexican food!

Talk about bang for your buck!!! I had the Posole’ and it was outstanding, delicious and spicy and all that hominy yummy. They also have the best cheese enchiladas the absolute best!!! You will not leave here hungry or broke. Always clean, expedient and friendly service. They have a constant stream of people so you know they are working hard.
I call this my hangover go to place you cannot go wrong.

The Jalisco burrito! Is amazing. A must order. The nachos are also a winner. Authentic Mexican. None of that tex mex nonsense. Great owners. Hard working staff. When I lived in the area I would eat here very often.

Always fast and cheap, Not a fancy place. The food is consistently good and the portions large. Service is always friendly.
If you’re going to get upset because there’s no valet parking or linen napkins; this isn’t your stop.

This is one of our favorite places and we go often. The food is well done and very reasonable priced. I have a tendency to judge Mexican restaurants on the basics. This restaurant does a great job with with corn tortillas and re-​fried beans.
You can order off a very extensive and fairly priced a la carte menu which includes most any street taco or Texmex favorite.
This is not «a night out» kind of place. Simple atmosphere, attentive friendly service, solid food — not fancy.
Recommended dishes include carne guisada, tamales, chicken chimighanga (hugh), tacos.

Honestly I love coming here because the waitresses are friendly and helpful when placing your order or picking something tasty. Today I ordered the enchiladas plate, a lengua taco, and a carne guisada taco. This was the first time I ordered the enchiladas and they were tasty. Definitely a good place to enjoy delicious food and don’t be shy to try different items on the menu.

It was a spur of the moment decision. The food was excellent, and the staff were very attentive. The prices are very good for the portions.

The most positive thing about this restaurant was our server. She was very nice and attentive.
The food was just so-​so. Reminded me of our visit to Sylvia’s Mexican restaurant in Houston, very bland. Although I have to say, the ground beef crispy tacos were pretty good. Great authentic Mexican flavor. But that was it. The cheese enchilada was just a tasteless hunk of cheese inside a corn tortilla and the fajitas were, again, bland. I’m pretty sure the tortillas were not homemade.
My other complaint was that I love a skinny margarita, but they don’t offer them and the regular one wasn’t worth getting another.
We will continue going to Gringo’s. It’s a tad farther, but excellent tex mex and great margaritas, skinny and regular.

One of the better Tex-​Mex restaurants in Texas City. This location reminded me of Taqueria Vallarta a couple of blocks away, and I heard they may even be the same owner. They have similar menus, white board of daily specials for 4.99 right when you walk in, and Mexican candies near the register.
That being said, we came here for lunch and found the place packed with mostly younger adults and high school students. Due to its location near the high school, I don’t blame them.
I ordered the Jalisco burrito with fajita beef. The menu clearly states it was 5.95 and came with chile gravy, but they made mine with queso drenched all over it instead. I didn’t complain, instead just ate the insides, the rice and beans. When I went to pay, they tried charging me $ 6.45 (not sure why) and I had to show them their own menu to get them to charge what it stated. For that, I took off 1 star. The customer is always right!

I would have given them 3.5 stars but they did not get my take out order correct. I ordered 3 supreme burritos with chorizo and eggs a la mexicana. I received ham instead of chorizo and regular eggs. Taste was good but I have had much better.

Really enjoy coming to this place. Considering I use to go to the Terrace Drive-​In when I was young and living in LaMarque it always brings back happy memories. This was a date night location. The food is really good and the price is right especially if you are feeding a family. Really recommend you give this place a try.

Awesome food here! I love love their flour tortillas, flautas, and beef fajita meet. It helps to know a bit of Spanglish when ordering and paying. Very relaxed atmosphere, gets pretty crowded for weekend dinner, so come early.

Consistently fast, cheap, and delicious. The service here is excellent. Their menu if extensive. This place is everything but fancy and highly recommended. You’re guaranteed to leave satisfied.

I’ve been eating here for 10+ years. Great food! This is a must go to place when you’re in Texas City.

If you want no frills and the real deal Mexican food then come here! I’ve had the Pozole and it was very good! Just the right amount of Hominy with chunks of pork, it comes with cabbage, onions, tomatoes and crispy corn tortilla on the side. Make sure to get some salsa picosa on the side. Super hot!
The kids plate are also good. They have tacos, quesadillas and if they don’t like Mexican food, they offer chicken nuggets and fries for under $ 5.
Don’t forget to try the fried tilapia! It is delicious!

My favorite Mexican restaurant! Tons of food with authentic flair at great prices. Oh! And really good strawberry margaritas! Can not go wrong with any dish! Go hungry!

Awesome Tex-​Mex joint in Texas City, tucked away in an H-​E-​B parking lot. On Friday & Saturdays they are open until 3am!!!
Generous food portions and very reasonable prices have made this one of my favorite spots. My favorite dish is the beef flautas… and their margaritas are quite good too. I’m also a big fan of their fajita beef tortas.
Taqueria El Jaliciense is worth the drive if you live in Clear Lake or South Houston.
