Bi-Mart is really like an inflated drug store. They do carry a lot of items that rural Oregonians need, and it may be the only store in town. In the case of The Dalles, most of the items should also be at KMart or Fred Meyer. So why shop Bi-Mart? They came in as #1 in some chain pharmacy satisfaction survey recently. They are headquartered in Eugene, Oregon and employee owned so almost all the money you spend stays in Oregon(and Washington). It’s $ 5 for a lifetime membership and depending on the location they’re not particularly picky about looking for that green card. My trouble is that the store seems targeted toward older consumers, so I rarely find everything I want — whether that be a more environmentally friendly cleaning product like Method or a stylish new rug for my house. Items Bi-Mart sells: Prescriptions Pet supplies «Drug store» cosmetics /health & beauty Office supplies Greeting cards Pantry foods Beer & Wine Camping gear Guns and hunting related items Automotive accessories and repair related items Home improvement and hardware items such as paint, light bulbs, drills, etc. Toys Cheap do-it-yourself furniture Small electrical appliances for the kitchen and home(including vacuums) Basic home electronics, such as flat screen TVs, stereos, phones CDs and movies, although this selection shrinks by the year Pet supplies Household cleaning basics, such as paper towels, cleaning solutions and mops Seasonal pool and garden supplies A few pieces of clothing basics such as off-brand jeans and sweats, inexpensive athletic shoes Prices at the store are very fair if you can deal with the hours, clientele and the curious product mixture. I tend to pick up great deals on local Oregon/Washington microbrewed beers at Bi-Mart. They also can take bottle returns and count by hand if you’re like me and hate the machines most grocers use.
