Stayed here while in town for a wedding. Not the worst place I’ve ever hung my hat but certainly not the best. I frankly would probably recommend the Purple Fiddle first but this place was cheap and the folks running it were nice.

Stayed here with some friends over the weekend on a mountain biking trip. This place is like every mountain town motel you’ve ever stayed at on those skiing/climbing/kayaking/biking trips. It was clean but not spotless, friendly but minimal staff, few frills. What it did have was all the hot water you could want and kick a$$ water pressure in the shower. Plenty of outdoor balcony space for bikes or kayaks to be locked up. Cheap, clean, good shower. What’s not to like?

I’ve stayed here twice while attending shows at the brewery 50 yards away. Its proximity to the venue is its sole attraction for me and my fiancé, because the rooms at the Tallyho are usually not particularly comfortable. The Tallyho is basically a cheap motel with a nice log cabin built around it. While the rooms are indoors because of said enveloping cabin, they all have huge windows looking into the rooms, which intruded a bit on my privacy. The interior does not look like it has been upgraded since the exterior’s remodel; the carpet was fraying and the bed was too hard. While the location is convenient, there are several less-than-convenient aspects of this lodge. First, there was no shampoo in the room, necessitating an extra trip to the store. Second, the lovely porch on the upper level has a superb view but is very hard to access. On the plus side, the internet is free and fast and the staff is friendly. This is not a fancy or very nice place to stay, and it’s a little overpriced when there’s a show at the brewery. However, I’ve never had a particularly bad experience here, and I imagine I’ll return, so I’m rounding up to three stars.
