It really is 1.25 a scoop and for that price what do you expect? It’s cafeteria style/food court style so you can get whatever types of food all in one box. Would be an easy place to get goods cheap takeout. And these aren’t small scoops either. They are large, filling, and taste pretty good! Also a large selection of food.

We drove by the area and its our first time seeing a $ 1 chinese food sign, what went through our minds are huh we gotta check it out ! lol There was a queue when I went in but the line moves pretty fast, and the lady behind the counter is awesome ! They definitely hook you up! I had a scoop of half rice and noodles my total was $ 3.50 Now lets talk about the food, obviously this place its a quantity over quality place but I was surprised that my food actually taste pretty decent. They do use spaghetti noodles for lo mein noodles and their fried rice is sorta mushy. The sesame chicken was pretty good too! After I finish my food I was so full and felt like a sodium overload. I wouldn’t eat here everyday but definitely will visit once or twice a week if I was nearby.

So you know in advance the 4 star rating was after a huge 3 vs 4 debate… upfront, as the others have said this place I good for a scoop place. Please note that that is relative. Is it the best ever Chinese? Nope, but it also doesn’t claim to be. The sesame chicken and mushrooms with chicken that I had(with fried rice) were both very good and a lot more than I expected from a ‘cheap place’. The sesame sauce was quite sweet though… Of course based on format they were quick. The reason why I’m considering/considered 3 stars is because the soup. the hot and sour soup could best be compared to mop bucket water and I hate to say that since the rest of the visit was very good! But I couldn’t even have more than a spoonful or two before throwing out the rest and I –hate– wasting food, like spiritually I hate it but it was that bad. So do me two favors — one, please try this place, and two, please please please don’t try their soup. if you follow both you won’t be disappointed!

Great food at a great price! Little hole in the wall place, was fairly clean. Fast friendly service, will definitely be back

Just left there and this place is right strong. Decent scoop selection. Donuts were on point. And the price was good. Portion big enough for the eventual after nap craving for Chinese left overs. I’ll definitely be back.

This is my first experience at a scoop restaurant and to my surprise I was very happy with my experience here! This place is a trek for me but for the price per item, it’s such a good deal I can’t help myself. I got the chicken fried rice, sesame chicken, and BBQ chicken. The BBQ chicken had a premium price add on($ 2.25) but it was not what I was expecting but it was still very good. I really enjoyed the sesame chicken though. It was salty and sweet and quite crunchy! For $ 1.25 a total steal. My wife got the chicken fried rice, broccoli beef and cheese rangoons. She liked the broccoli beef and she said it was really juicy and flavorful. The crab rangoons were really creamy and crunchy and also super fresh. We also got a mango smoothie which was fresh, flavorful, and refreshing. Definitely check this place out, it’s inexpensive but very tasty!

For the price this place is amazingly good. The only Complaints I have are some of the people that work there are really rude.

Great place to go for cheap Chinese food. The food can be hit and miss. Last night the soup was really watered down and had no flavor what’s so ever but the orange chicken was really good. Last time I went the beef and broccoli was horrible but again it’s hit and miss.

1.25 and Up a Scoop(hey, the name might not be creative or cute, but it gets points for descriptiveness) is fantastic! It’s in a strip mall along Washington and looks fairly nondescript, albeit clean, on the inside. It’s right near my work, and after reading about their lunch special on here, I knew I had to try it. $ 3.99 + tax will get you fried rice, 2 entrees with meat, an egg roll, and a Pepsi product or bottled water. I challenge you to find a better deal anywhere, especially for moderately healthy food that’s hot, fresh, and flavorful. Especially when comparing it to New Asian Express, another scoop place several hundred feet away, 1.25 and Up wins by a mile. It’s much cleaner and the food is simply better. In addition to scoops, they also have entrees that are a bit more expensive as well as fruit smoothies and boba.

Best sweet and sour chicken ever! Delicious large meaty chunks of chicken deep fried to perfection. This is my favorite entrée to order here, along side there egg fried rice. They also have great customer service and will hook you up with heaping portions. Best place around!

I really like this place. But when I found a worm in my food I contacted the restaurant to let them know they should check their beef and broccoli. The person that answered was really rude. I understand things happen but no reason to be rude. I guess that’s expected from a place that’s cheap.

I saw the good reviews and decided I would be brave and try this place. I got tons of food for six dollars, good thing because the egg rolls and beef were inedible. The beef was slimy and tasted so odd that I could not tell if it was beef. I really wanted this place to be decent because of the price, but I will never go here again. Good luck to you if you choose to eat here.

I just went here to get sweet and sour chicken, they didn’t give me the sauce. just the chicken. when I called back, they said all they could do is get me the sauce and a wonton. I don’t like wontons. I’m sick as a dog. YOUR employees messed up my order, and asking for a dessert is too much? nice and professional. not going back.

Wow! My boyfriend and I tried this place the other day and couldn’t believe how much food we got for less the 11 dollars! We couldn’t even finish it all. The portion sizes were huge and they also tasted so good! Really surprising for a 1.25 and up place! Also great stuff well decorated clean and smells good!

They are so friendly here, and the portions are huge. I’ve been here at least a dozen times, and I’m always happy with it.

Holy portion size. I got two scoops and I would have been just fine with one. Good quality, friendly staff, CLEAN! I’m surprisingly impressed, considering I saw the name of the restaurant and laughed, thinking it was going to be poor quality. Nice surprise. I got sesame chicken and spicy chicken. Both great.

The nicest and cleanest scoop place I’ve ever been too. Great selection, and everything was pretty darn good. Service was very friendly. Scoop places aren’t really my thing but this is the only one I will eat at. You will see for yourself.

Came across this place recently. The name alone cracked me up — it’s the«$ 1.25& Up A Scoop Chinese Restaurant!» As some other reviewers have mentioned, the portions were really generous for the price, and actually turned out to be very large for a scoop. There appeared to be a couple of items that looked overly-greasy, but the teriyaki chicken and fried rice were great. As some places like this can be on the scary side, I was really surprised.

If you like greasy Chinese take-out, this is the place to come. Scoops are very generous and range from ~$ 1.25 to $ 2. They also have specialty dishes that can be upwards of $ 7 in price(Salt and pepper shrimp, etc). The staff there is very nice and I’ve never seen a scoop place with so much business. When I need some quick lunch for work, I come here because it’s so cheap. They also make fresh fruit smoothies that are pretty much 100% fruit!

Have been eating here for awhile now. My niece would usually bring the food home. I went into the place for my first time a couple days ago. For a scoop place, the restaurant was pretty nice. I ordered hot spicy chicken with chicken fried rice and teriyaki chicken. My favorite would have to be the teriyaki chicken, although it is more like a red BBQ chicken. You’ll see if you decide to order it. With this style of restaurant you can see your choice before you decide or even try a sample since it is laid out over heaters. They have a good variety of options to choose from and can also cook to order other menu items not put out if you wish. I really liked the food here and the service was very friendly and quick. Good inexpensive food! Give it a try if you are in the area!
