I used to go to islands all the time and I forgot what I had been missing out on until I went back there for dinner tonight. My boyfriend and I were seated as soon as we walked in and our waitress Kayla took such good care of us. She was quick to bring our drinks and our appetizer. When it was time to order, I was debating between the Hawaiian burger (which I had never tried before) and the big wave (what I used to get) and she suggested that I should get the Hawaiian burger and It was the best burger ever!!! Overall I had great experience at islands and I will definitely go back there for dinner soon and ask for the brunette named Kayla!

Don’t get me wrong… the food here is good however when you have a «lunch specials» menu that you hand out and you see all 4 of us at the table ordering off of it… you should probably go by those prices when ringing us up. I brought it to the attention of our waiter and he said that the jungle caesar you had to add 3.85 for chicken. But in the description it said chicken and nowhere did it say for an additional amount. He did change the price for my sandwich was 3 dollars more on regular menu and apologized. My family didnt want me to push issue but i read the lunch menu on way out and chicken was listed in the 3 caesars that they ordered. We were coming back after the last time my husband had a piece of glass in his salad that he almost swallowed. Not sure if we will be returning.

I think the food here has taken a serious turn for the worse. Salad was wilted and burger tasted like drive through quality. Limited gluten free options and I’m pretty sure they cross contaminated me.

I give this place five stars not because I think their food is that amazing. Actually I think it’s pretty decent but not crave worthy. I give this place five stars because it’s honestly one of the best family friendly restaurants that we have ever been in. I’m a mother of two toddlers (2 & 3… save your judgement). It’s not easy taking these monsters anywhere let alone a sit down restaurant. Food comes out quick perfect for the impatient little tots and the ambiance and décor is somewhat amusing for the little ones. Service has always been great from the handful of locations I’ve been in.

I had a very poor experience today. I went to Islands to order food to go. The estimated wait time was about 10 – 15 minutes. I got there within 15 minutes and still had to wait. I’m not upset at how long it took to get my food, however, once I paid for my food in cash, it took about 5 minutes for me to get my change. I had also asked for a water which was forgotten, and brought out after I got my change. I felt like the employee helping me was also very rushed to do other things, which surprised me because of how slow she was to help me.
All of the time issues aside, I still was not satisfied. I got a burger with two cheeses on it. Normally when I go to the islands in agoura i do not get charged for that extra cheese. well i noticed while i was driving away that i was charged here, but thought it was worth the money. when i finally got home, i opened my burger to find out that they did not even put the cheese on it, and i was charged extra! At this point it was too late to go back, so I just had to deal with it. Will most likely NOT go back to this location. The Agoura Hills location is FAR better.

Feedback to the restaurant. I’m a fan and will very likely eat at your establishment again. Could you please take a hard hard hard look at how much salt is being used on the patties. Today was basically inedible because of the salt level on the hamburger patty. In retrospect I should have sent it back.

We came here to meet my daughter’s boyfriends family last night.
Our waiter was great, especially when he asked why I was taking pix I mentioned I was taking pix for Unilocal.
I personally like the Malibu with extra bacon little1000 island dressing and that’s the one.
tonight, everyone in our party got the Malibu lol I started a trend!
The food was good, but not as good as Simi. It was however cooked right and correct except it had too much mustard.
The manager brought out the endless fries really quick
all the staff was very attentive and friendly.
I’m not really sure what was different but it seemed more bland here in NewBury Park.

Great food, great ambiance, and great staff. Stopped here for a quick bite during a road trip. Our server Melanie went above and beyond to give great service. Clearly the only word I use is great. Ordered the Mahi Tacos and they were delicious. Sit on the front patio on a nice day, order some wings, and enjoy the reggae music. Definitely worth the stop.

My best friend and I visited this Islands Restaurant many years ago when they first opened. I honestly have not had a bad experience to date.
My co worker took me out for lunch today. I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos. I took my first bite into it and was rather not sold on it at all. I tried pouring the juices from the Pico de Gallo onto it to mask the taste (which you shouldn’t have to do to enjoy your meal) but it wasn’t working. The cooks themselves did a very good job with the meal, I realized it is the fish itself I do not have a taste for. The waitress, Amanda, was more than happy to get a different fish taco meal made for me asap. It was brought to me in less than 15 minutes or so and it tasted AWESOME. The service is quick, the waiters and waitresses are respectful and considerate. The manager took very good care of a dissatisfied customer today, I was impressed. Walked out full and happy.

We ordered fish tacos-​it wasn’t good. The only good thing was the sweet potato fries that you need to pay extra for.
The service wasn’t good either. Pretty slow to refill our drinks and we waited long for the refill of the fries.
We asked for a desert to celebrate my sons birthday we got it without a candle (no big deal but when everything else sucks…).
All in all this place should be out of business!!!
Don’t go there! There a Denny’s, Habbit and Chippotle, any of these are BETTER.
This place should a major update to their quality of food, menu and standards of service.
In all fairness I have to say that every once in a while one of the managers came over to check on us but I just didn’t know where to start because this place is simply hopeless! Sorry.
Their iced tea is good (real-​freshly Brewed).

Yum! Great food. Large portions. Fun environment. Great place to go with family or friends.

ive Always drove past islands not thinking much of it, my gf and her mom wanted to go out and suggested islands.

What an awesome place this is. I love calling out waitresses that do an amazing job. One in particular that served us is named Kayla. My gf and I have eaten at $ restaurants and $$$$$ restaurants and ive always said the same thing «ill have my beer WITH my meal» and never has that happened. Either it comes before, gets warm and then food. or Food, wait until im half way done then beer. Kayla was the first person to ever carry the beer and the food and give it to me at the SAME TIME. my gf looked at me and said… «omg finally…» haha
so thank you Kayla. You rock! hope you becoming store manager one day
besides that, the service was spot on, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is great and the drinks are good.
Def a place where ill be coming to now. Glad theres one on Kanan by mulholland drive, Ride the snake then islands! brap!

As a combination sports bar and pacific-​islander themed restaurant, Islands doesn’t hesitate to add variety to the usual sports bar menu. Burgers are good, service is relatively quick and friendly, and the restaurant is a good place for small groups. The shortcomings however, lie in the atmosphere, which like the fish, was rather bland.

Good concept, poorly executed.
On a busy night, they were kind enough to bring me a second order of French fries — this one warm. I didn’t ask about getting my cold burger reheated.
Big menu, but very limited wine selection.

The service is awesome at Islands you have an incredible happy hour the Cobb salad is great and I love the unlimited basket of fries keep up the good work!

I haven’t been to Islands for a while so it was actually pretty nice coming in this evening. I was pretty disappointed that they no longer have their Islands Golden Ale anymore. Our waiter told us that Karl Strauss stopped making it for them, which was kind of a bummer.
We came in for Happy hour which is actually pretty good. I ordered a Mai tai for only about $ 4 and their sliders were also only about $ 4.
We also ordered some buffalo wings which were pretty spicy, which for me is good since I like it spicy.
All in all the service was excellent, food was great, and for the price it was well worth it! Can’t wait to come back!

As Islands go this is a good one. Good service by friendly staff. They always have a good live sporting event playing in the bar which I appreciate. Not a sports bar though as they only have one event playing on all the TVs in the bar.
Full bar with many beer options. Prices are fair, food is decent and usually served hot and quickly.

Burgers and fries… oh my! It’s always good, consistent, and family-​oriented.

My fav burgers are the: Hula (sauteed mushroooms), Hawaiian (pineapple, teriyaki), and the Point Break (Gruyère & bleu cheeses, caramelized bacon & onion relish). About 12 kinds to choose from, all burgers can be made with beef, turkey, or veggie. Price ~ $ 10.50, but carb heaven — fries (all you can eat come with each burger!).

The salads are large, the nachos are a monster (and great), and I also like the soft tacos with chicken (a lot!).
Desserts:

Kona pie is one of the best things in the world. Mocha almond fudge ice cream, oreo cookie crust, topped w/​chocolate fudge, whipped cream. C’mon now! Seriously, just pop in for one of these things (and don’t share!).

Served 4pm-​7pm, Monday-​Friday — with good options! Chips/​salsa ($ 1, made fresh, thin, and served warm), cheese quesadilla ($ 2.95), 4 sliders ($ 3.95), among other items. Drinks featured: drafts ($ 2.95-$ 3.95), wines ($ 3.95), and mixed drinks ($ 4.25).

Dinner with friends. Two of us had burgers one had the fish tacos. Everyone was satisfied with the meal.
I had the bluenami burger and it was defiantly blue cheesey! Buffalo wings for an appetizer were satisfying. Ok selection of local and popular beers.
They were running a playoff burger and beer special. Good layout of TVs.
Service was great. Solid performance all around.

This is really not my sort of place, but I have to say – I enjoyed happy hour.
My husband and I started with the Makaha Maggie (pineapple-​infused tequila, Grand Marnier, lemon, lime, crushed pineapple, agave, cinnamon sugar rim), because, really, the choice is between beer and something ultra fruity. My husband took one sip and ordered a beer. I drank it and ordered another, with less agave and no sugared rim. It wasn’t bad.
We ordered the happy hour cheddar fries. I expected a side. Turns out it’s a full-​on platter. Hello. Did we finish it? Yes, yes we did. Am I embarrassed to admit it? Not particularly.
The hula burger (mushrooms and Swiss) with a veggie patty was actually really good – savory and mushroomy and delicious.
As much as I hate to say it, I would totally come back.
