Sorry, folks… Computer issues. The place is small. but cozy… I don’t usually expect much from a strip mall BBQ joint, but Dickey’s really delivered. The folks there are great… and the food… it’s fantastic. We got to sample the chicken… which so many places overcook… but this was tender and so flavorful… top notch… The pulled pork… also, tasty… But the brisket, especially the pieces with the bark, was sensational. Perfectly seasoned and smoked and so melt in your mouth good. And they are really smoking here! They have great choices of beer, including Leffe, one of my favorites… and the place just has a great, positive vibe. Will be back soon when I need… I said NEED some more of that brisket!!! Thanks to Chelsea for always welcoming us with a warm and friendly smile… and the whole Elite gang. Thanks!!!

Mmm Texan-style BBQ at Dickey’s Barbecue. What a delicious time! I didn’t realize how invested Dickey’s barbecued meats were until the owner explained that they get cooked up for about 14 hours! That’s some serious dedication to slow-smoked BBQ: O My date and I enjoyed the dinner which included pulled pork, chicken and brisket with sides of mashed potatoes, mac n cheese and a bread roll. I tried their original and spicy BBQ sauces on my tender slices of meats and they tasted the same but one had a kick to it lol I liked the spicy sauce best! They also serve soft drinks and beer. Everyone who attended the event received Dickey’s beer koozies and free pizza & drink coupons for the nearby pizza shop. We were tempted to go get our free pizzas after our meal with John T. and his wifey but we were too full lol And to top it all off, soft-serve ice cream in a cone really hit the sweet spot. It was just good food, good people and good vibes all around. Thanks Unilocal for hosting another successful Elite event :)

Another successful Unilocal elite event! Thanks to Chelsea and the others who planned this event. I’ve never been to a Dickey’s BBQ chain before and had no idea what to expect. They had buffet style serving which was a great way to taste their pulled pork, brisket, turkey, mashed potato, Mac n cheese, and bread rolls. They welcomed everyone to go back for more. I was full after the first plate. The drink tickets for alcohol were more than enough considering it was a Tuesday night. I enjoyed the brisket and respect the fact that they actually smoke their meats! The sweet BBQ sauce went well with everything. Their pulled pork had good texture but I think it came as is. I am not sure what seasoning it had but it felt more complete after adding the BBQ sauce. I personally prefer some onions ans tomatoes to mix with my pulled pork ;) Their mashed potatoes were on point. The Mac n cheese is very homie — meaning it’s cooked comfort food style rather than gourmet with the crumbs on top. It’s the kind of Mac n cheese the kids will enjoy and us big kids can appreciate. Yummy BREADROLLS!!! The set up of the event was Halloween themed which kept it very homie and fun! Beer, BBQ, and candy… what’s not to love! They gave away Unilocal water bottles, pizza coupons and more pizza coupons. They also gave out beer bottle holders. They just kept on giving away goodies! The employees and manager did a great job! My husband and I will be back for more :)

Such great food! Thanks, Dickey’s, for hosting a Unilocal a event so that we could try a little bit of everything. We’ll be back! My favorite was the brisket — it fell apart with the touch of a fork! With a little barbecue sauce(house, sweet or spicy) it was wonderful. Or maybe my favorite was the serve-yourself soft serve! Next time, I’m going to make a root beer float :) Great food, a great team who obviously take a lot of pride in their product and food, and a location near my work. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

Barry and his staff threw a fantastic event! The BBQ chicken was really smoky and I don’t want to admit how many times I went up for refills on the mc & cheese. Everyone was really warm, attentive, and friendly, and the food was delicious. There are 3 types of BBQ sauce(house, sweet, or spicy) and they were are great. Great beer selection as well! I didn’t miss the soft serve in the back either. A great experience all the way around and I’ll be back for more BBQ soon.

Thanks to Barry(the owner), his staff knocked us off the cow with terrific service and generous amount of glorious meaty grub. I ate at Dickey’s last week, so this was a double delight…2 times…2 times…2 times… but this time, it was freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Served community style, Unilocaler Anthony and staff were serving up the goods: brisket, pulled pork, chicken, mac n cheese, mashed, and a roll. Brisket and chicken were sliced thin, of course, the pork was pulled-style. Each was ultra-fantastic, smoky, and tender, which meant — packed with flavor. As Barry told us, the meats are smoked for 14 hours. I couldn’t, but 2nd helpings were offered… so generous(I loved that!). We each got two tickets for alcohol: Belgian White by Shock Top was for me… always great, but they also had a nice selection of bottled beer if that’s was not to your liking. Unilocal garb, candy, and candles adorned the tables to give it a Halloween theme… and this was awful nice. If you are in the area, check this place out. Also, be sure to order some of the out-of-this-world Spicy Cheddar Sausage. Thank you to Brittany for organizing, and Chelsea representing Unilocal management and hosting us.

Dickey’s on Forest Lane used to be a weekly lunch outing with the guys from work when I lived in Dallas. Funny we’ve not been to one out here yet. Must be due to LA’s ever growing foodie list of places to try. We did grab a loaded bag to go last time we had a layover at DFW. Thanks Brittany for organizing this event & reminding my Texan hubby & I of Dickey’s out here. Of course there are top notch stellar BBQ I’ve enjoyed in Dallas and Austin. Dickey’s may be a chain but it is my In-n-Out of Texan BBQ ^_^ Their Redondo or Pasadena may require a visit in the near future to keep our Texan BBQ cravings in check :)

I’ve passed by Dickey’s Barbecue in Woodland Hills while I was grocery shopping and always wondered what it was like, so I’m glad I got to check out this one in Thousand Oaks. Yay for Unilocal Elite events! :) The restaurant was festively decorated in a Halloween theme with candies and stickers and cobwebs adorning the tables. We also got a cool new Unilocal swag of an aluminum canteen, and I added another koozie to what is now my 2-koozie collection. ;) I liked the wood paneling on the walls and the old-timey photos of original Dickey’s places. All the meats are smoked, and my favorite was the beef brisket. The pulled pork and chicken were a bit dry though, so I needed the regular and sweet BBQ sauces to moisten them up a bit. I also tried the spicy cheddar sausage and the Polish sausage, which I found to be tasty but pretty salty, so one piece of each was enough for me. The mac & cheese was covered in a thick sauce so orange that I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything so bright. If you like ooey gooey mac & cheese, then this is the place for you. The baked potato casserole was the bomb – like a chunky mashed potato bursting with yummy goodness. An unexpected standout was the bread roll. It came in a little nondescript square, but when I bit into it, I was surprised by the pillowy softness and excellent mouth feel. Is it high-gluten that makes it so chewy and Q?(If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then look up the Taiwanese Q texture.) I LOVE things that are Q! And this bread was totally Q!!! It totally rivals any bread from Asian bakeries. Finished off the meal with a soft-serve cone from the back. Randy B. from my table thought it was frozen custard at first, but then we were told that it’s actually non-dairy. Oh. Whatever was in it, it was still creamy and sweet. Oh, and I forgot – I also tried a Shock Top Belgian White for the first time. It was slightly sweet and very delicious. They had a couple different kinds of beers in the cooler to choose from, and I was told the Shock Top is popular with the ladies. So I guess it also suited this lady just fine. ;)
