Absolute worst customer service from a place that we ordered from almost every single day! They make a mistake and then make u feel bad about calling for them to correct it. They should be ashamed of themselves, especially the owner Joey, he is a complete asshole! NEVERAGAIN!!! And everyone we know will will follow suit and not order from them again! Go to Ponderellis pizza and kitchen it WAYBETTER!

My husband and I stopped by for the first time earlier this evening, we are new to the area. We had yet to find great pizza in the area until we stopped by Joey D’s this evening! The pizza was excellent ! We had half meat lovers and half buffalo chicken and was not disappointed. The staff there was so nice especially our waitress! We highly recommend you stop by. Cannot wait to try this eggplant and other delicious options!

God forbid this place get an order right. Unless I’m pointing out the slice in person they get it wrong. It’s a bit ridiculous at this point. My gf called in an order tonight slice of BBQ chicken, sausage and pepperoni, and a provolone sub. Well we wound up with a buffalo slice and an American cheese sub. I’d give them 0 stars if I could. 9 times out of 10 we order from Manga down the road witch is his brother from what I’ve heard and they never gets our order wrong. Idk how this guy stays in business!

Staff was extremely friendly, we had the pepperoni pizza(good but a bit more oily than I like to see), cheese steak pizza(was good), vegetable pizza(was good) and the sausage pizza(was good as well). The garlic knots was yummy loved it. The apple tart was great as well.

This place is phenomenal. The Muscles Marinara are to die for. The veal is killer. I live In California and make it’s point to drive 30 miles to this place when I visit NJ. Aside from the dishes, pizza is unreal, not to mention the selection. Looking forward to my next visit.

Ok we use to order Pizza whenever I visited my Mom. At the last visit we ordered delivery and as expected was very timely. The pizza was of very low quality hardly any cheese or sauce. We called and complained finally Joey called back and offered us to call him next time. Lesson: The customer is always right. He should have apologized and sent a new Pizza that’s its. Well there are plenty of other places to order from in Toms River. So I just removed this place from my list.

Just bad, wouldn’t be open if it wasn’t next to a movie theatre and an overcrowded Ruby Tuesdays

I’ve only ordered from there twice and of the 2 times, I ordered a plain pie and a sicilian pie. Their sauce has this nice kick to it to where you’re not reaching for your drink to wash down the yummy taste in your mouth. And my friend who had a slice said it was one of the better tasting sicilian slices she’s tasted ever. For the area, I will say their sicilian contends with Italy’s Best’s Sicilian as to «who tastes better» because IB’s cheese is better but not their sauce, vice versa for Joey D’s but their cheese isn’t terrible compared IB’s sauce, so I’m favoring Joey D’s at this point.

So, I order pick up at 9pm and am told 20mins. Get there at 9:23 and the doors are locked. Employees see me and do not open the door. But call me an hour later to see where I am, when your doors should be locked then bc that’s when you close. I will never order from you again.

This place is awful. Don’t eat here. It used to be good over a year ago. Now it gets worse and worse. The pizza was barely cooked and cheesesteak had no meat on it and the bread was soggy. 40 $ order in the garbage. The pie gets smaller and smaller. Stay away.

I got a reply from Joey D about my original review. He told me it was libel. Haha. He offered no explanation for all of the bad reviews, no apology, no offer to come and try again, just a mild threat to sue me. That’s the kind of guy that owns this dump. Last time I was in the strip mall I walked by this place and it was full. Joey D sure did do one thing right, he rented a space in the hottest strip mall in Toms River next door to a busy movie theater. The foot traffic alone keeps it going. So who cares about the food or service when uninformed people just keep coming through the door like robots. Too bad Joey D, with that kind of traffic you could have really done something and made a name for yourself. What an opportunity wasted. Instead, your known for the worst pizza in town that people are stuck with when they need a quick service meal before a movie.

I’ve given it 6 chances in the last five months. The worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. You can stand at the counter and wait 15 minutes before someone acknowledges you. Take out order? Joey D, wherever you are, you better get on your staff before you have no business to staff!

Terribly managed. The first time I called, they lost my order. Next, they explained there were no meatballs at 5pm during a weeknight. Finally, the large pie was small and charged incorrectly. There are so many choices, I will pick elsewhere.

I really wish this place didn’t suck, because it is the closest pizza place to where I live, and they deliver. However, unfortunately they do… Been there I think 3 times now and will not go back again. The service is bad, they have at least 2 people behind the counter and half the time they’re just standing there while I wait for one of them to come take my order. The first two times the pizza was mediocre and the cheese was all stuck to the box. The first time I got garlic knots, which were basically cold dough balls. Last time I went and just got a single slice. The girl asked if I wanted them to warm it up, which I thought was weird. Like I would think if it’s not hot, you shouldn’t have to ask before heating it up, right? Well, maybe I should have said no, because when I finally got my slice it was burnt, but I wanted to eat something before I went to the movies next door, so I tried to eat it. Ended up burning my tongue and the roof of my mouth. So, yet another awesome experience at Joey D’s. If you can screw up PIZZA – THREETIMES – you’re doing something wrong… like I said, not going back.

I’ve been here once & never again. It was a slower night so there is no excuse for what went down that evening. I ordered 2 slices of white pizza & a calzone. Well, they burnt my pizza, then gave me 2 free slices(i hear they do that alot) which did NOT make up for the calzone. It was just a ham calzone. It took 40 minutes just too cook the damn thing, I finally get it and it was FREEZINGCOLD on the inside. Disappointing.

By far the worst pizzeria in the area. I swear that the food comes from the Senior Day Care next door. Ordered a chicken parm sub, pretty simple thing to not mess up. I was hoping that it was better than their«Brick Oven» pizza since it took so log to cook. I guess my expectations were just a little too high. By far one of the worst sandwiches that I have ever had! If you think back to elementary school on chicken parm days, you will have known a Joey D’s sandwich. Terrible canned sauce over freezer burnt chicken. The cheese was far from fresh. It was more of sliced mozzarella that you would get from a deli. And the bread was like a sponge. I took one bite and threw it out. Thank you Joey D for making me throw away my hard earned money. Next time I’m going to Saladworks next door!!!

The pizza is awesome especially the Grandma Style, but they need to have more knowledgeable people taking orders when you call in. The girls taking the orders by phone mess it up 9 times out of 10.

The food and pizza here is great, but the service needs some serious attention. I have walked in and stood at the counter for near 10 minutes before being acknowledged. Everyone was busy, but on 2 desperate occasions while waiting someone came to the counter answer the ringing phone and continued to ignore me. Finally I was acknowledged, I had my order pulled up and paid for it. I was told my order«wasn’t quite ready». My order was for a sandwich and 2 plain pies well done. I noticed a sandwich on the top of the oven when I arrived, multiple plain pies came out of the oven and went out on deliver orders. I waited for 15 mins after paying before once again asking someone about my order. I also asked if the sandwich on top of the oven was mine and was told«yes, we’ll make you a fresh one» I waited an addition 10 minutes(25 minutes past the original 35 minutes I was quoted for my order) When I finally get home I realize my sandwich was incorrect, and my one of my pizzas was actually cooked normally(not well done as ordered) and the second pie was raw. Then on my way out as I’m getting in my car I have a waitress yelling out at me across the parking lot«Sir, we need you to pay for your pizza» I guess they forgot as it was nearly a half hour between when I paid and when I got my pizza. This was very disappointing, it was night that everyone knew would be a busy one. There is no excuse to be short staffed at a constantly busy location.
