Fred’s Carpets Plus

We needed to replace the carpet in our living room (the only place in our house with carpet) and after reading reviews on Unilocal,we decided to check out Fred’s Carpet Plus. This Mom & Pops store is located in the neighborhood and offers a huge selection of carpets with very well trained staff to help you pick what you need. The best part is they are not pushy at all and let you take your time and borrow samples to take home to make sure you pick the right color to match your décor. We worked with Dick and Brian who were both fantastic. Dick helped us pick the right carpet, while Brian came out to the house to measure the room to make sure everything went smoothly during installation. Brian also helped educate us on the best place to have a seam (low traffic area) near the back of the room. The installation went very well and they even helped us move our 500+ pound piano back into the room. The new carpet looks absolutely wonderful. Some of the best money I have ever spent.
These folks have been in business for over 60 years and it is not hard to see why. They are so easy to work and provide excellent service. I highly recommend stopping by to see them if you are shopping for carpet. They were fantastic.

We checked this place out when looking for hardwood to finish off our master because it was local and had decent reviews on Unilocal.They had a good selection, and surprisingly the salesman was helpful and not pushy. We took our time picking out a few samples and decided which we liked best later that week. They came out & measured, showed up on time and gave us a reasonable quote.
It took us several months though to figure out when the timing would work out well and when we could fund the purchase. When I called Brian the salesman back he remembered us and still had the order written down, and honored the quote even though the material had gone up.
Anyway dealing with them has been a positive experience. They are very professional. Our new floor is very nice and unique. We have something a lot nicer thanks we’d just went to a big home store and it Didnt cost more.

They were recommended to me by my general contractor, who has been their customer forever.
In my house I have a combination of real & fake wood flooring, tile, and even a slate floor.
I like variety.
For the curved staircase I decided to go with carpet, thinking it would be quieter & safer.
Enter Fred’s Carpet. Their newest location (their second, formerly Westchester Carpets) happened to be just 10 minutes away at Hawthorne & PCH. Lucky for me, considering I spent the better part of 3 days carrying samples home to choose exactly the right color.
Salesman Brian was amazing throughout! He really really knows carpets. I was impressed to the max.
Installation took place yesterday. Fred’s installers are their own employees & I was told that most of them have at least 20 years experience with the company.
They know what they’re doing and this was evident.
The installers carefully wiped off minor smudges from my walls & even swept the driveway where they had cut the new carpet.
Fred’s sells a variety of flooring products, as well as window treatments. When it comes time for some window blinds, I’m heading back to Fred’s.
Now it’s clear to me why Fred’s original location (also in Torrance) has won awards, including South Bay’s Best Carpeting/​Floor Covering Store… for 5 consecutive years.
My stair carpeting looks perfect, btw. And because I upgraded the padding, it’s kinda like walking on a cloud. My tired old knees will thank me for many years to come…
