I really wanted to write a great review for Phyllis at Image Electrolysis, but sadly I cannot. Prior to my visit, I had been seeing an electrologist in San Diego for over two years. It had been about two months since moved to this area, and therefore was on the lookout for a new clinic. I read the great reviews about Image electrolysis and decided to give it a go. Phyllis was extremely kind, accommodating, and experienced. She was a great conversationalist during the treatment and helped me to concentrate on her and not the little burning sensation I felt while having the treatment done. She also provided a lot of recommendations for products and referrals to different clinics/dermatologists in the area. So why only one stars? If it wasn’t for her winning personality, I would give zero stars to be honest! The morning after treatment my face was completely swollen. I had a pimply rash/burn marks all over the treatment area(see photos). I contacted Phyllis who said that this occasionally happened to «people with oily skin» and that the rash would subside without scars in a day or so. I am only oily in my T zone and this wasn’t the area that was broken out, but I decided to wait it out and see what happened. After four days of the«rash» aka broken out skin and swelling, I contacted my old electrologist to find out what I should do. She told me that the pimples were caused by bacteria entering the pore where the follicle had been and it was not because I «had an oily face.» She said this was NOT a normal reaction, citing the two plus years of treatment I had had without ever having a breakout. My skin was by no means perfect prior to my treatment, but I hadn’t had a single pimple in weeks, so this experience has been incredibly disappointing and a true waste of money. Having paid twice what I pay in San Diego and now having to seek out professional treatment for the scars that this has caused, I caution you to do your research before you seek treatment.

I have been seeing Phyllis for a little over a year now and she is great! I am always a little hesitated to trust my skin care to «professionals» but by my pervious dermatologist retired and I was in the search for someone new. I have no regrets not only does she work with you to get the best results; but she truly cares about her clients and the overall success of your skin goals. I would defiantly recommend her to friends and family.

I’ve been seeing Phyllis for about five years now and she is the only person that has been able to help me control my acne. I’ve been to every dermatologist/facialist under the sun, only to be sent home with a ton of creams and of course, medication to control acne, which I refuse to take. Phyllis is professional, up to date, and is just all around amazing!!! Her place is quiet and relaxing and her service is impeccable. My acne is significantly reduced and my skin looks better than ever. And she will never pressure you to buy products, something that I’ve experienced before and just bugs me! And don’t go anywhere else for electrolysis to save a few bucks. It is not worth it! I have a lot of experience with electrolysis and going cheaper is never better. Many other places have older machines that just hurt! Her machine is state of the art and it doesn’t hurt. You’ll never have to worry about scarring or anything of that nature, which you have to consider when doing hair removal. Laser is a waste of money! Electrolysis may seem more expensive initially, but it is permanent, unlike laser. After trying her services, I would never go anywhere else! I had laser done on my face, but what they neglect to tell you is that on certain skin tones it not only doesn’t work, it makes the hair grow in worse. What a nightmare. With Phyllis’ help and time, problem gone! Thanks for everything Phyllis! You’re a gem!!!

I have been coming here for the last 5 years, and Phyllis is incredible. She is extremely well read and knowledgeable. She know an incredible amount of information on skin care, and I trust everything she says. Her facials always make my skin glow for several days. I am a full believer in «skin health», and part of maintaining healthy skin is to have frequent facials. Initially I needed electrolysis more frequently, but now I just go every 2 – 3 months, for some stray facial hairs. I have been to multiple electrologists over the last decade, as I have moved around, and she is by far the best. She is pleasant to talk to, and her office staff is also excellent.

Be prepared to spend a lot of money. Many places won’t tell you how many session you’ll need. I got the impression it would take 4 – 6 session but I’ll tell you I’ve been getting electrolysis for a year now(going every 3 – 4 weeks.) I didn’t have much underarm hair to start with so we aware if you’re fuller. At this point growth is lighter but definitely still there. I feel like I’ve put this much into this that its hard to consider switching to laser. Phyllis is wonderful, her equipment is state of the art and less painful than older equipment. She’s very knowledgeable and hygienic. She’s also fast and doesn’t dilly dally(she works quickly while still chatting with you.) I would’ve kept going to her but I had to find a cheaper place. A one hour session is $ 90! My new place is only $ 62/hour but they use an older machine that’s more painful and talk too much during the session(thereby working slower.) Although Phyllis likes to schedule you every 4 – 6 weeks, I’d say try going every 3 – 4 weeks. The longer you wait, the older your hair gets and its not as effective(not to mention higher settings would be required.)
