Rude service. I was indecisive about what to order and the waiter girl was just not pleasant. Seemed a lil racial profiling was the issue because I’m African American. Food good service sucks.

Small little restaurant, not much ambiance, but the service and food was great. The owner served us and they have a deal where you get a sake sampler for $ 12.99 but if you order a bottle, it’s only $.99. We ordered a small bottle and he brought us a big bottle for less than the price of a small bottle. I will definitely come here again if I’m in the area.

The worst ramen place in LA. Quality was terrible. I had to leave the restaurant still being hungry. Service was bad, too. I don’t understand why the server put a bowl of ramen on my table and left without saying anything did’t care to bring a small bowl and small utensils for my 4 year-old kid. Ramen did’t taste authentic. lack of flavor. A Store bought one was way better than this. Gyoza was partly over cooked and partly still under cooked. Fried rice was not edible. Even I can make better fried rice at home. Apparently cooks work there don’t know how to cook properly. There’s so many good ramen restaurants in South Bay Area. I really don’t understand why they dare to open a ramen restaurant with that quality. It was waste of time and money. Such a disappointment.

We had ramen from here delivered via door dash. The delivery part was great. The food itself? Not so great. My husband and I both got the custom ramen, and I really liked the spicy miso broth. But the shrimp my husband added was not edible. And i had added chicken breast with the note to hold the pork. We were both not sure if the meat I got was bad cuts of sliced chicken or if it was pork… either way I didn’t eat the meat. I would have given this place 3 stars but my husband less so we averaged on 2.

I got to try out Ko-Ryu thanks to a groupon that I purchased. Dining here, I didn’t realize that it was the sister restaurant of Ko-Ryu that is on Crenshaw. As others have stated this Ko-Ryu Ramen Grill is the location of the old Golden Camel Mongolian BBQ. Walking in though, one would not realize it because the whole place has been revamped and looks so much cleaner and nicer! Diners still have the option of getting Mongolian BBQ but now also have the option of getting ramen too. The ramen menu has various ramens. You can choose from a miso base, shoyu base or spicy miso base. Aside from the set ramen offerings, one can make a custom ramen. Ramen prices vary in price from $ 8.95 to $ 9.50. For my trip here, I chose to get the fried chicken ramen. It is basically ramen with some karaage. I’ve always been a fan of karaage and was looking forward to seeing their version of it here. When my ramen came out, there were two things I noticed right away. One was the ramen soup base did not fill the whole bowl and two the size of the karaage. For this dish they served the karaage on the side. The fried chicken pieces were pretty small. I’m used to seeing big tender pieces of karaage but their version here was bit more like popcorn chicken. There seemed to be more fried chicken skin versus chicken itself. The soup base I got was miso and i found the soup to be a bit salty. It turned out good perhaps that they didn’t fill the whole ramen bowl because I ended up leaving some of the soup and stuck with just eating the noodles because of the saltiness. The karaage also could have been a bit better. Aside from being like popcorn chicken in size, they seem to have overcooked the little pieces as well. I think it’s great that the former Mongolian BBQ place now has more options for customers to choose from since they now offer up ramen. The groupon was a good way to try this place out.

THEFOODISTERRIBLEHERE! I cannot express enough how terrible the food is here. We wanted to stop in for a quick bite. Ordered a bowl of ramen, veggie gyoza and for addtl’ $ 2, lunch special, ordered shumai. To start, the ramen bowl, shaped as a toilet bowl, was a perfect example of how shitty the greasy broth was. The veggie gyoza were flatter than the dish, and saturated in grease! I lifted one piece and grease was dripping from it. Took one bite, and found more grease than filling in it. Oh man!!! It was indescribable!!! The ramen broth looked like an oil spill in the Pacific Ocean. The pork shumai was humongous and unappetizing. The young female waitress was pathetic, unfriendly and no one ever checked on us to offer more water. I told the male waiter the gyoza was nasty, and he just said, «okay». Really? Not what was wrong with it? Well, it’s pretty evident. This place is a sorry ass place for a Korean owned ramen Restaurant.

Dine50: Day 12(I was here on Day 5 for the same bowl.) Ko-Ryu Spicy Ramen FINALRAMENBOWLFORTHEDINE50CAMPAIGN! Came in around noon and there were plenty of seats available. Since I’ve been here before and had the same bowl, I decided to compare it to my first experience. With the side of soft boiled egg, I also went for their 2 pieces of pork shumai. The service was much better. I was tended to quickly and was checked on periodically. The shumai was bigger than what I’m used to, so it’s a good thing I only ordered 2! My bowl came with a little less bean sprouts(that’s a good thing) and it was a tad bit spicier than the last time(that’s not a bad thing.) It was great. The manager didn’t even bother looking at my pass or ID. He said he trusted me. And like the last time, he was all smiles. It was almost infectious. Definitely a better experience than the last time!

I ate here last night with three other friends, and we used the DINE50 Pass I found under Unilocal Events. Such a good deal! The interior of the restaurant is very clean and spacious with a nice, minimalist layout. Each table seats about four people, with a few others that accommodate larger parties. It has way more space compared to Shin Sen Gumi in Gardena. My group and I ordered the Spicy Ko-Ryu Ramen(that’s the only plate the Dine50 pass applied to). It was delicious. My palate doesn’t run too spicy, so I ordered the level 1 spice. It was still a bit spicier than what I’m used to, but it made the broth more flavorful. When the food came out, it seemed like we were only getting a little bit of content, but it was surprisingly filling! All the noodles paired with two thick slices of pork belly and the usual bamboo shoots and green onions made for a great dinner experience. We had a hard time finishing our bowls. Our server was extremely accommodating. When it was time for us to pay and we noticed that one of the Dine50 passes was mistakenly left off an order, he very graciously apologized and fixed the receipt to reflect the discount. I’m definitely coming back here to try the other bowls. There’s also a Mongolian BBQ station where you can pick and choose your meat to be cooked. TIP: 2 free toppings on your ramen when you check in!

Jay and Ivy are the best owners. You’ll find them most of the time at their Torrance Crossroads location. But, you’ll find them once in a while at their second location here on Hawthorne and Torrance. They opened this location by merging businesses with Jay’s father at the old Golden Camel. Their renovation and expansion pays homage by keeping the Golden Camel’s grill and still offers Mongolian BBQ on their menu. Since their opening, this has been my go to ramen place because it’s so close to our home. Their Koi Miso ramen noodles and broth is my favorite. Although, I have to say I love their garlic and spicy ramen when I’m in that kind of mood too. Shumai is really large. Very tasty as well. Can’t wait for them to add a ramen and Mongolian BBQ combo on to their menu.

I love this place for my Ramen fix. Happy they opened this location as it is right next to my office and I used to have to drive about 10 – 15 minutes to the other one. There are other good Ramen places around but I like this one best. Consistently good. I like that they add the Bamboo Shoots, egg and meat with no extra charge. I get a little frustrated when I go to other places and all of a sudden, I am paying $ 16 for a soup lunch. Happy they are here :-) I wish them all the success in the world with their new locations.

For a Mongolian BBQ grill place that has Ramen, it’s really good. Rich in flavor I got the koi Ramen which is the the first one considered a signature. We actually walked in past 9PM but the staff was nice enough to let us in. And the owner expressed as long as we got our order out they don’t mind how long were in the dining room for, just so long as his/her employees got to go home. Bonus points for staff that enjoy being here. It seems like they’re getting the ball rolling, but I’ll be back to try their $ 13.99 Mongolian BBQ buffet!

Wonderful Mongolian BBQ food and very nice owner. He’s been there forever and always has a huge smile on his face. The staff doesn’t speak much English, but they do their best and the food is always tasty. Recommend the extra spicy sauce on your BBQ order if you like it hot! Dinner service much slower than lunch, but clearly a family-owned and proud operation. I’m a lifetime regular!

If I could give less than one star, I would. Anyone who gave this more than 2 stars for their ramen has either never had ramen anywhere else in the world, or is culinarily challenged. It was awful. Horrid oily broth, over-cooked flavorless pork, ridiculous angled bowls, and poor noodles. We should have known it was bad when we walked in and realized half the restaurant is Mongolian BBQ. We also ordered the gyoza, which were OK, and the chicken karaage, which was not even close to chicken karaage — more like wok fried pieces of chicken on a plate with sesame dressing. Again, disappointing. Staff may be related to the owner, and their English is poor at best. Only redeeming quality was the Asahi draft was ice cold. I’m glad I didn’t drink the water as my wife said the water and ice tasted funny — guessing they’ve never cleaned their ice machine. There are so many places in the south bay for excellent ramen that you have to try really hard to make bad ramen. They’ve succeeded in being the worst ramen in all of LA. Avoid. If you think this is good ramen, great, as it means less people in the good ramen spots less than 5 minutes away from this dump.

Not many food places in this plaza but glad I have a ramen place that is down the street if I ever crave ramen. I’ve been to the original location on Crenshaw at the Torrance crossroads and I think they are similar. I got the shacho ramen. It’s broth is so rich making me full halfway and I got it mildly spicy. I also tried the broth of the garlic bomb and that was also good. Everything was good but the noodles texture. I felt it was a little bit over cooked. The flavored egg was perfectly cooked where the yolk was very soft. Check in for the 2 free toppings. The gyoza looked over cooked being a little bit too brown. Overall it satisfied my ramen craving on these cold so cal nights. Lol cold is in the 60’s for me. They were very nice but you will need to flag them down if you need anything. Don’t be shy.

Happy High Carb — Cheat Meal Day!!! I had the garlic bomb Ramen. The texture of the ramen was good. The spicy miso broth was a tad on the salty side for me, however very flavorful. When you check into Unilocal you get 2FREE extra toppings. I got flavored boiled egg and fish cake. My friend got the wonton ramen with Shoyu. He liked it and said he would order it again. For an additional $ 2 you can make add a side dish. We got the Gyoza and Small Chashu(BBQ pork) with rice. Gyoza was cool, nothing extraordinary. Chashu with rice — just hit the spot. What can I say, sometimes all you really need to satisfy a craving is RICE. Or maybe that’s the Chinese half of me screaming«FEEDMERICE!!!» Service: very prompt, courteous, no problems or issues. Venue: It’s in the location of where the golden camel was/is. The venue is split into 2 rooms. Very clean, tables aren’t sticky, and the water they service is clean and filtered(no chlorine scent or taste — YAY). Food: good portion sizes, left feeling content and wasn’t hungry. 3.5−3.75 stars Parking: it’s an open lot, so no issues there plus it’s walkable distance for nearby residence and people working

apparently anyone can open a ramen-ya like a Subway We decided to take my step dad here since it is really close to his house and I was thinking how awesome it would to have ramen. Let me just say the owner of this place is really nice, but I don’t know why he decided to try split his restaurant in half and pick Ramen over 100 other things he could have done. Even Japanese people don’t like to open Ramen places with maybe the exception of Santouka, since Ramen is really hard to make, since it can take a really long time to perfect the broth. Even on the menu there is a thoughtful explanation of ramen, but it is all for show. First off, the tonkotsu broth had some different flavors in it from what I am used to tasting after eating Ramen here and in Japan for the past 40 years. The broth was at least hot, not bland but different. The noodles had no flavor, a tad overcooked, and were probably old. Everything was dumped in fancy tilted bowl with a lot of sliced scallions, soft menma, and really bland charsiu. We also ordered some gyoza which came out after the ramen and looked like a little kid made it. I can make better gyoza. As I mentioned earlier, the owner is really nice, but Ramen isn’t like Sushi where you just need to learn how to use a makisu and hire a seafood purveyor to bring you fresh fish, instead to make a perfect bowl of Ramen you need to know how to make a perfect broth. I don’t think they get that at Ko-Ryu, and I hope they figure it out.

I was beaming with excitement when I saw that this Ko-Ryu opened up less than a mile away from me. I anticipated trying it for a week! But. what in the world? The other Ko-Ryu was amazing! I loved everything about that Ko-Ryu on Crenshaw. What happened the night I was there was unacceptable. Now, Ko-Ryu has very distinct flavorable broths that are so thick, half of your ramen meal is in the soup your slurp. We ordered the large hot sake(awesome don’t miss it), the Koi Ramen, and Shacho Ramen. Don’t forget to checkin on Unilocal for 2 free toppings! But… Koi Ramen: Waiter– Asked for no bamboo, got bamboo. Asked for corn and fresh garlic, didn’t get either. Asked for extra spicy miso, not a drop of chili powder. Looked back to see if I can get somebody’s attention, no body in sight. Found waitress– Asked for fresh garlic and corn, brought back water garlic paste. Asked for corn again, brought back fried corn. Asked for corn again, brought back garlic cloves. Googled corn picture for her, got corn. Shacho Ramen: super thick broth and ok flavorful but not close to the Ko-Ryu on Crenshaw. We asked for extra Chashu and flavored egg but not in there either, but we were starving so didn’t bother to ask again. Charged for the 4 toppings and we felt so defeated that we brought up the Unilocal Checkin for freetoppings anyways even though we didn’t probably receive our toppings of choice. I do NOT believe that this is the real Ko-Ryu quality of food and service and I WILL come back because I’m hoping to Buddha this was just a blue moon night.

At first I was confused… I could’ve sworn I’ve been to this place in Torrance, but at a different location. Then we asked, and they told us they were in two locations now. Sorry, it was late, and I was tired. The other location was a great experience, so let’s see what this one had to offer. The ramen was pretty good… but they got our orders wrong. Several times. I mean, the staff was very nice, but it was like… four or five times in a row they got our orders wrong. They definitely couldn’t speak english. Here’s how it went. When you check into Unilocal, you get two free toppings. We showed this to the waiter, and ordered corn and garlic for the toppings. Girl server brings our ramen out, with zero toppings. We ask for corn and garlic toppings, since we had the Unilocal coupon. First time: Brings out crushed garlic, no corn. «Thanks! Can we have the corn as well?» She smiles, nods, and walks back. Second time: Brings out fried garlic. «Thanks… but can we have the corn? We’re good on garlic.» She nods, walks back again. Third time: Brings out chopped fresh garlic. «Um… we’re okay with the garlic? Can we have corn please? She looks confused. We try explaining what corn is in english. She doesn’t get it. So we google«corn» on our phones and show her some pictures. She nods, and finally brings out our corn. When the bill came, we were charged for ALL our toppings, despite the coupons. We called the manager over and it all got cleared up. Look, I have no problem with people not being able to speak english. They were all very sweet and the confusion with the bill got cleared up, but c’mon. They need to learn a BIT more than that to be able to take orders at the very least.

This place is awesome, the«mother» store of the location on Crenshaw. This is the original home of the Golden Camel Mongolian BBQ where many loyal patrons have come for over 20 years. It’s back now and better than ever. The original owner sold it a few years and it went downhill temporarily, but he has since bought the place back. It’s had a mini-extreme makeover and now serves both the Mongolian BBQ or Japanese noodles which are very decent by the way. Tip: for the Mongolian BBQ, use the wax paper to press the meat down or the sauces will run all over the bowl. This is a great place to go to when you can’t decide on what to have. Dinner is a great value as Mongolian BBQ is AYCE. The service from the lesser experienced(and maybe some language barriers) younger staff needs some gentle guidance from the original owner, but overall, our experience here is always great.

3.5 stars. An A-OK place to satisfy your ramen craving if you aren’t willing to drive the extra couple of miles to get Santouka or Shin Sen Gumi. The noodles here are the thick curly kind. Even though they are of the packaged variety, they are always cooked well and stand up to the robust broths. One thing I like about thick curly noodles is that they don’t get mushy as fast in hot soup. This is very important if you are not a particularly fast eater. The broths: Spicy Miso: 3 stars. Very strong miso flavor. Not too oily or porky. KO Spicy levels 3 and 4: This is by far my favorite. The 3 has a nice kick, but it wasn’t that spicy to me. I decided to go up one notch, and I couldn’t tell the difference between the 3 and 4. I will get level 5 next time. The ramens: Chashu ramen $ 9.50: 3.5 stars. I got this twice. On my first visit, the chashu was cut very thick so it was a bit tough and hard to eat. However, on my last visit, I ordered the chashu again and noticed that the slices were much thinner. It was very tender and though you get less protein, it’s a better eating experience. Won Ton Ramen $ 9.50: 3 stars. Not a big fan of their won tons. The shape is irregular around the filling so the thin dough tends to fall apart in the soup. Apps: Shu-mai: 3 stars. A lot of filling. Much bigger than your normal shu-mai. Very meaty, with a faint ginger/onion flavor. I found them a bit bland. Fried Chicken: 4 stars. I really like the fried chicken here. I snagged a piece from a coworker and it was very crispy and light. Again, a little bland but if you are eating it with the ramen, it’s fine. *If you order the fried chicken ramen, you can have it on the side so you can enjoy the crispiness a bit longer. Tips: #1: You can order any broth with any ramen style that has«recommended soups» listed beneath it. My next combo will be the veggie ramen with KO spicy level 5 broth! #2 The to go set up is excellent if you are in a hurry. They separate everything and the container for the broth is big enough to fit all of your noodles and toppings. #3 Check in on Unilocal for two free toppings per table. I recommend the bean sprouts.

To start off, the GOLDENCAMELMONGOLIANBBQ is still here so don’t freak out. And YES, there’s legit RAMEN made here as well! Here’s a little background on how everything played out with the initial owner of the GCMB. The older man who owned and started GCMB in 1974 decided to sell it a few years back but still kept the name of the restaurant. In my opinion, the new owner never invested on bringing the restaurant up-to-date…which brought the customers to lose their interests – myself included. I mean, you can tell the service and quality of food turned bad and the place kept looking bad. Thankfully, the original owner bought it back and RENOVATEDTHEWHOLEPLACE! Good for them. It’s much needed and to add to that… KORYURAMENISNOWAVAILABLEONTHEMENU! We’re a regular at GCMB and so we’re very happy to have him back. He shared how his SON actually owns Ko Ryu Ramen on Crenshaw Blvd(near In n Out and Yogurtland)…that’s really neat. I would’ve never guessed but what an awesome move for them to branch out! The place looks great and service have improved. The ramen is just like how it it’s from the original spot off on Crenshaw. I highly suggest that you order the Garlic Bomb Miso Ramen! Best ramen on the menu. The gyoza and fried rice are a great combo as well. If you have more room, order the chashu bowl and add some chili powder(: The Mongolian BBQ is a buffet style for dinner $ 13.99. As for lunch, it’s only a one-time trip to the buffet line for $ 8.99! If you’re on a budget, lunch is your calling. But go before 2:30pm because they close a few hours in between lunch and dindin! Overall, I’m beyond relieved that the older guy is back! He’s the coolest and everything is awesome when he’s there! Thank you, thank you!

The soup & the seafood were seriously BOMB. My mom ordered the fried rice and gyoza. The fried rice was pretty good. I was only disappointed because there were 4 small gyoza. They were also good but hard to tell when they’re so tiny lol. Portion sizes were slightly too big for a medium eater like me. My mom and I shared and we still took some home. Service: The new waiter didn’t really know what he was doing, but the owner acknowledged so before hand. The owner is actually Taiwanese(if I remember correctly) and he knows Indonesian so my mom was pretty happy lol. He was very quick to attend to our needs, pretty cool& energetic guy.

Came here with some friends and wish we went to another ramen place instead. We chose this location because it was bigger than the other one we are planning on going to. When we arrived there was only a couple there, that should have been a sign that this wasn’t the best place to eat at. The service was nice and friendly but the food wasn’t vary good. All our orders were barley warm. Mine ramen didn’t taste spicy at all, my friend had an egg in their ramen and it was cold like it had been in a refrigerator or freezer prior to being put in the soup. **** Also beware that if you ask for extra meat they will give you less noodles but still charge you extra!!! After eating here my boyfriend and I both started to get an upset stomach, this place had been the only thing we had ate so we knew it was caused from eating the food here. I won’t be coming here again.
