One of my favorite sandwich spots ever. Ive had almost everything on the menu and everything is amazing. My favorite is the Turkey Reuben, the Sauerkraut with the home made Russian dressing… LOVEEEITT Im getting hungry thinking about it. If you want a true NY style deli sandwich this is the place to go. A true hidden gem in Torrance and you will not walk away from here hungry. If I lived closer I would be here almost everyday for lunch. Their meats are freshly cut and you get a lot of it. Not to mention everyone who works there is super friendly and attentive. LOVEEEITT!

Had the pastrami Reuben and it was the best I’ve had since my visit to Katz Deli in New York. Kudos to New York Deli. And they serve up the biggest Matzo Ball soup that I’ve ever seen! Great service and ample dining space too. Two thumbs up from this guy!

I love this place! I get the cabbage meatball soup every time. My coworkers always get sandwiches. They are so big they could easily be split.

Ill be generous and give it 3 stars. I give a negative star to the young lady who was the cashier. She was impatient, this was my first time here so first impressions mean alot, and kept glaring at me. Odd, really odd. I ordered three matzo ball soups to go and got a fresh rye bread also. The food, great. Bread so fresh. My styro soup container was wrapped in Seran wrap thank goodness because the lid completely cracked in half and the bowl section of the styro had a hole. As soon as I unwrapped, the soup started leaking out! Booooo! The soup tasted awesome tho. But back to the cashier. Major faux pas is NOT speaking English around your customers. That and the glares, glad I got it «to go»!

The décor is tacky and the food is very average. I got the tuna melt with fries and the fries were cold and greasy. You can tell they were low quality frozen fries too. Same with the tuna. You know when you go to the grocery store and buy a can of tuna and see white albacore tuna for $ 1.99 and then other cans that are $ 0.49, well these guys use the $ 0.49 tuna. You can tell by the grayish pink color of the tuna, which a quality tuna would be a pinkish white. The bread was good, which is the only reason to go to this place. Order toast and you’ll be fine.

Tried this place yesterday… Was bad from the go… The pierced nosed cashier was rude as frack. I saw sandwiches on the table after I’d ordered and asked if they were mine — she gave me a dirty look and scoffed — excuse me. I then almost walked out with my sandwiches when they were ready, without paying because when I tried to pay when I ordered she said to wait till they were ready, and then I forgot I hadn’t paid. In any case, she says to me «we’re you planning on paying for those?» Major B attitude. To top it off, the sandwiches are average(had rueben and pastrami). And to really top it off, gave both the wife and I severely upset stomachs(writing this from the throne.) In conclusion, a definite pass/stay at least 1,000 yards away from this place. Send an enemy, perhaps?

Great little hole in the wall spot with a real family feel. It’s tucked into the back corner of the strip mall. I have never tried anything I didn’t like here. The triple decker sandwich is gigantic. The weekends are usually busiest and around lunch time. But service is quick and friendly. If your looking for a good sandwich and friendly staff this is the spot.

Great place to stop by for some delicious triple decker sandwiches. I will usually order a large matzo ball soup and share a sandwich with my dad. I love their brisket, pastrami, corned beef & even their salads! Big plates, fair prices & good quality, you can’t go wrong with coming here.

The matzo ball soup is AMAZING. The ruben is good, their portions are on the larger side. It’s in a strip mall and has been there for decades. Bless this place and its matzo ball(massive) soup, can’t buy that anywhere else in the Southbay. You can eat-in or take-out.

I heard this deli had good pastrami and matzo ball soup, so I had to hit it! New York Deli is located on Sepulveda just east of Crenshaw in Torrance. They offer basic sandwiches, «New York High» sandwiches with cheese, coleslaw & Russian dressing, and Triple Decker sandwiches. I ordered the matzo ball soup($ 6.95) and hot pastrami«New York High» sandwich($ 11.95/ inc your choice of salad). The matzo ball soup was excellent. It contained a soft ball sized matzo ball, noodles and a lot of chicken. A lot of places like Katella Deli charge you for rice or noodles, and don’t have much chicken. NYD’s version ate like a meal, so I only consumed half. In addition, it was very inexpensive: 5 Stars. Secondarily, the sandwich was very good. It was stacked with a ton of moist pastrami, and the coleslaw added nice crunch to it. I only ate half because the soup was so filling. However, I would have a hard time eating the entire sandwich and potato salad, and stay awake in the afternoon. The only downsides were the bread was just OK, it included cheese, the pickle could have been crunchier, and the potato salad was a bit too sweet for my taste: 4 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, it is old skool. It looks like an East Coast deli you see on TV that you wish you could visit. There are cakes at the entrance, and a deli section for take out items: 4 Stars. Likewise, the service was friendly and efficient. My soup came out quickly, and the sandwiches followed shortly thereafter. The waitress and server were super nice and attentive: 4 Stars. I can’t wait to come back here and try the reuben($ 12.95 — one of my co-workers said is was bomb), the french fries, and perhaps some coconut cake for take out. NYD is definitely on my list of regular places to hit by my office!

I used to go to the original location about a block away. This is much bigger. The seating area has expanded into the adjacent storefront. I got the pastrami on rye. It was great. The bread was very fresh. It came with a salad. I would go back again.

On Monday, September 14, 2015 for Rosh Hashanah we visited The New York Deli… SHANAHTOVAH !!! The food here was excellent. The seating is «seat yourself» and when you get the bill/check, you pay yourself at the register, so the service ‘tho friendly is «no frills» which is fine by me. The Matzo Ball Chicken Noodle Soup is excellent, as is their sandwiches, we had a Triple Decker to split which had Corned Beef and Pastrami, served hot. The portions are good, so if you go in as a couple you can spend about $ 15 per person after tax/tip and be filled by splitting a soup or salad as well as one sandwich, since half of a sandwich is filled with enough meat(and more than most sandwich shop’s full sized sandwiches) to satisfy. Very generous portions ‘tho sandwiches are $ 10 – 15 each, they’re well worthwhile. I’ve been to the typical Jerry’s, Brent’s, Langers, Canters, etc. and I’ll say The New York Deli is a great rival peer servicing the South Bay Beach Cities area, giving no reason to venture out further in search of good Jewish Delicatessen dining for lunch or dinner. Parking is easy in their lot as well too.

Still legit New York style deli. The Best Patrami sandwich in town. Its moist, and perfectly flavored. The is baked fresh daily. Meat piled high, very generous portion. I always get two meals per order. An order will come out to about $ 12 but its still cheap considering the amount of food you get. It comes with your choice of side item amd pickles. I usually get the Potato Salad or the Macaroni. I also ordered the Turkey Sandwich on Wheat. Turkey was perfect, the wheat bread was soft, and the lettuce and tomato very fresh and crisp. This is definitely my go to place to satisfy my cravings for a sandwich. I have to take one star today since the cashier at the Take Out counter was kinda rude. She must be having a bad day. When I ask for my receipt, she just looked at me like I was bothering her. Thats okay, Ill still be back.

Rating: 72⁄100 pts We already know Torrance is a haven for Japanese food, and has fairly strong Latin food, but anything traditionally American is a lot harder to come by. In fact, I actually did a double take when The New York Deli popped up in my Unilocal app. They’re closed on Sundays, which meant I chose a weekday to stop in to inspect just how authentic this deli was. While obviously not as essential as legendary Langer’s, nor as expansive as the classic Canter’s, New York Deli completely delivers on the deli experience. I was so impressed that I found myself back for a second dosage just a week or so later. Operating since 1985, all foods from this family run establishment are prepared in house each day before opening. This results in traditionally prepared meats, breads, and sides that scream of freshness, and by extension, one of the best sandwiches in Torrance. I tried both their corned beef and pastrami, and while both are excellently moist and salty, I’d more sooner recommended the corned beef, if not for the sole fact that it’s hard to find decent corned beef anywhere else. Their wheat bread is astonishingly fresh. It tastes like you’re biting into a cloud. The sourdough was good too… but man, that wheat bread was soft. A basic sandwich comes to around $ 12, and with the abundantly piled meat, combined with the side dish and pickle, I always get two meals out of it, making the prices very reasonable. Available for take out(you’re in and out in under 5 minutes) or for a leisurely sit down meal, and there’s also a bakery counter with fresh cakes. So, if you didn’t know there’s this awesome New York-style deli right in the heart of the Little Tokyo of South Bay… now you know.

It’s such a luxury to have a local deli that rivals Canter’s and Langer’s without having to drive into Los Angeles. This place has expansive sandwich selections, different side salads, plate options and yummy soups. The only thing I wish it had were in-house baked goods.(They have outside desserts available but I’ve never tried them.) What to expect? Towering sandwiches with generous portions. The pastrami and corned beef are delicious and impressive. The hot sliced beef tongue and chicken liver sandwiches are great for those who like something different. The tuna melt is substantial, «meaty» and tastes unique compared to others’ versions. The soups are big, flavorful, and feel like the best-tasting medicine you will ever have. The dining area is simple, spacious, and comes with multiple televisions for sports viewing. The servers are friendly and your food comes out hot and fast. If you love sandwiches and you’re in the South Bay, this gem hidden in a nondescript strip mall is a must try.
