We’ve been bringing our son here since August of 2008. Not only is our son developing martial arts skills, he’s also made a nice group of friends. We visited 3 other places and were set to join one of them, when we discovered The Way of the Shadow. The way our son was introduced to the classes was the key for us joining. Our son received a private lesson to learn the ropes and then was led to class by one of the instructors. The other places left it up to the kids to join the class on their own. The owners, Tafan and Shasta, as well as the instructors are extremely nice and very personable. The style of training is designed for practicality and every day use. In Spring of 2011, three of the teenage boy students were able to use their skills to fight off five muggers at Del Amo Mall and helped the police arrest the muggers. The muggers were 17 – 19 years old, while the three students were 14 – 16. All five of the muggers were prosecuted. Also, one of the adult students is a police officer. They teach self-defense, punches and kicks and grappling. Training on many types of weapons is available including swords, escrima and ninja stars. The training is primarily ninjutsu, but Soke Tafan is very knowledgeable about many styles of martial arts. To promote a sense of family, the dojo usually has an event each month. Some of the events include broomball, a weekend in the mountains, an annual Christmas party, picnics and overnight sleepovers for the kids. One of the sleepovers is Valentine’s weekend, a nice plus for the parents. We’ve been very happy with The Way of the Shadow and never thought about taking our son anywhere else since we joined.

Terrific martial arts studio for kids and adults. A family run business and very evident that they put their heart in soul in this place! All the instructors are fantastic with the kids. They do games as they incorporate ninjutsu training. They take kids starting from 4(Mini Ninjas) on up. Great for teaching kids discipline as well as self defense techniques. They have a section for parents to watch or parents can kick back in the lobby on the couch while sipping on coffee. The pricing for the classes are very reasonable. Much cheaper than other chain kids karate studios. They also put on FANTASTIC private ninja birthday parties for the kids! They give free week trials. Highly recommend it!

Been training since 2005, had a couple of prior martial arts training, but I find this one works best for me, I like the physical part of the training, the practicality of the art, and the people I train with. I highly recommend it :)

My wife and I have been attending this school for several months now and have been nothing but pleased every step of the way. We have been regularly attended their Cardio and Ninjitsu classes and love the results we’ve gotten. The Cardio classes will get you in shape faster than you can imagine, and they have upbeat music to keep your energy up. The Ninjitsu classes are very defense oriented and I now feel safer having been there. I have also been to the Yoga classes and I can tell you, it is harder than it looks. :) Highest marks!
