I used to go to winchells in Covina California before it became California donuts. I remember I was a regular on Friday nights and the guy in the store brought us some fresh out of the oven ones on the house. Such sweet sweet memories. I was sad when that one closed down. It should be noted that it is now yum yum donuts but they keep the old signs for nostalgia value. And as far as I remember they taste just as good so I guess they got the recipe.

This place gets five stars for the memories. My dad and I were regulars on Sunday mornings. I would get a chocolate covered chocolate donut and a hot chocolate and he would get some kind of glazed or old fashion something and a coffee. When my brother joined us he would get a chocoate covered donut… but those long ones not the round ones. And we would sit and eat and watch the people walk by. Oh yes, and my dad always had to ask for ice for our hot chocolates… too hot. Always nice people working there. And we always managed to find parking on the street right next to it.
