Winchester Restaurant

The chef and owner Enrique Borja is an amazing chef. The selection of cuisine is very large for a cook to order restaurant. He also offers and international menu that has all of my favorite foods on it. Greeted with a warm bread with handmade oil dip, most meals come with a fresh soup or salad. The staff is very professional and the atmosphere just perfect. If you like spicy, I would recommend the Oven Ki Murghi off of the International menu. If you are a little more reserved I would recommend the Beef Medallions in a red wine sauce. No matter what you order, you will not be disappointed :)

I find the food here overpriced and terrible. I even gave it a few shots… I don’t recommend this place.

i was a long time loyal customer till this happened! my grandfather bought a gift card for xmas for my wife and i. we went there for dinner last night and was told we couldn’t use our gift card. i laughed at first thinking they were joking until the owner came over and was more then rude. he told me he doesn’t accept coupons. i laughed again as it clearly was a gift certificate bought from
it even say says gift certificate on the top and has a cert# on it. also says it will never expire. the owner then says «well let me tell you the truth, i had a misunderstanding with
on those but we fixed it and now you have to spend $ 45 here to be able to use them.» however my certificate was purchased before the fix and stated non of this, so you would think he would make it right from a business point? no! how about a customer who has spent alot of money there over the past 5 years and the whole family goes there at least 2 times a month? no. even paid to have my sons baby shower there and he still would not accept a $ 25 gift certificate he already got paid for. don’t let this man steal and take hardworking americans money. spread the word about this thief

Don’t be fooled by the exterior and location of this hidden gem. Delicious made to order food, reasonably priced. Intimate, relaxing atmosphere. The Chicken Marsala was perfectly cooked. Nice wine selection. Homemade tiramisu. Prices similar to De Capo but so much better! Try it you won’t be disappointed.

Arrived after a Warner Theater show… Read reviews on Unilocal and decided to try it. Very old school exterior and a pleasant surprise! Everyone got something different, every dinner was delicious and enjoyed, particularly the veal dishes. We heard the pounding of the veal back in the kitchen while eating our salads– food is cooked to order which is appreciated, even if you have to wait a bit. Would come back again when in the neighborhood.

55 minutes from the time they took the order ’til we got our meal, and the restaurant was barely occupied. Wait-​staff seem inexperienced. Air conditioning extremely loud, ambience un impressive and unexciting. Chicken Parmesan pretty good, pork chop so-​so, and chicken cordon blue was dry. French fries cold. Serves no name brand soda. Came because we read previous great reviews, came here for the steaks but they were all out. There are better places to eat in this area. Pricing a little high compared to portion size and value…$ 18.95 for a small pork chop, $ 19.95 for an 8 oz cordon blue. Chicken parm was large and was the best value overall, $ 16.95. Wouldn’t come back until I know things have changed. Very little parking. Took 10 minutes to get change for our check. We felt like we were not the most important customer in the place (out of the 12 that were in the dining room)

Don’t judge this place by the bar side! The food is excellent there. The chicken Marsala is my absolute favorite here and it’s always very consistent. I would give this restaurant a 5 star just on the chicken Marsala alone but I am taking away one star for the service. Although it is friendly service, it is extremely slow.

My husband and I both enjoyed our meal here. Food was very good and served piping hot. It was so nice to find a place w/​o a TV! Instead, they played very calm and restful music, what a nice change! Service was pleasant and quiet adding to the calm atmosphere. I would discourage young families and groups only because I’d want to keep it as a nice get-​away for my husband and I. It was a very nice dinner!
The only problem was a nearby table of 4 was a little too loud and there is nothing to block or absorb noise between tables.

The Winchester has an unassuming exterior that you might pass by if you didn’t know what tastiness lies within.
The atmosphere is classy with dim lighting, yet not too formal. The dining room is fairly large, but is sectioned off nicely so you get more privacy. Bonus points to the staff for putting some distance between patrons during the not-​so-​busy time we came in.
Service was very friendly and super attentive. They probably refilled our water glasses four or five times.
You start off with complimentary warm, chewy bread and seasoned oil for dipping, which is very good. We had the mozzarella sticks for an appetizer, which had a thick, crisp breading. The garden salad included with many of the meals is very fresh but not really special; however, the homemade house dressing made it worthwhile.
I sampled from three of the four dinners at our table and nothing disappointed. The steak was tasty; the pork very juicy and flavorful, and the chicken very tender and good. The veggies on the side were nicely cooked and lightly seasoned. They offer healthy portions; not enough to provide most people with much in the way of leftovers, but definitely enough to fill you. We saved room for dessert, which was also very tasty and seemed to be homemade.
It’s noted in the menu that each dish is made to order, so be patient. It’s worth it – the food really does taste that fresh. I really like this place; too bad I don’t live closer.

Awesome food! Everything is made fresh and homemade. Came back again the next week to try more! Service is excellent too. Very nice inside, don’t let the outside fool you. Upscale for Torrington. Love it!!!
